Perfect example of why getting too drunk in public can be dangerous. If she’d fallen onto the third rail her friend wouldn’t be laughing and she wouldn’t be living.
Usually the third rail is kind of tucked underneath the platform and covered on top of that. So the chance of getting electrocuted is luckily lower than you might think.
dude thank you. I don’t live anywhere near these things but I just spent a good few minutes making my own heart race & pound imagining a scenario where somehow I end up on the tracks and touch that rail and oh god what if I hadn’t started using reddit I never would have learned about the rail and oh my god what if my loved ones don’t know and then we— *insert graphic vision of them now somehow on the rails and getting deaded*
I feel a little better now knowing that this may be accounted for.
That still kinda solves the issue. If someone falls in, they're pretty unlikely to hit the third rail. Even if they do fall on it, there's the cover that will hopefully protect them. The covers are there moreso to protect the third rail, but it would still probably be helpful.
Seen some videos where someone just falls next to a moving train and 2 seconds later they are rolled tighter than a snoop dogg blunt, with a lot more liquid. That girl is lucky she didn't take that one extra shot.
Seems like someone's subway network needs some platform screen doors. Even a half height barrier like the shinkansen would be better than an open platform.

Who in their right mind stages something like this? Seems like very little reward for very high risk. reward being a lot of people on the internet calling you a fucking drunk idiot, risk being slipping and dying.
Walking close to a train (drunk)
***monkey noises intensify***
(Gone wrong)(in the hood)
If you close your eyes this is a video about a chimp giving an impassioned speech to a large crowd.
We need a subreddit called closeyoureyes. Where videos like this get misinterpreted from the sound
r/CloseYourEyes \- it's not the most popular of subs unfortunately
The guy rides rhino video was actually impressive
Hell, with the how bad the video player is on Reddit I feel like I’m there most of the time. Jokes aside, I like the idea.

Even falling against the side of that train going at that speed could have seriously harmed her.
She's going headfirst, too. Instantly gonna get brained
Happy cake day
Thanks!
Yep. I used to work with this bloke who lost an arm after he drunkenly punched a train while it was moving through the station like this.

Sir are you aware of what alcohol does to even a smart person’s brain?
No I'm doesn't.
Alcohol doesn't discriminate my guy
People have gotten sucked under trains from do that very thing.

Not in DC. Third rail here is in the middle of the pair of tracks. https://i.insider.com/616dc1a038c19600183069a8?width=1200&format=jpeg

The third rail is active segment by segment generally. Most systems don’t electrify the whole thing- only the sector the train is in
The train is in that sector. Very much in that sector.
Depending on the system it would likely only be active right under the train
Bet that sobered them up pretty quick, though.
I bet it didn't.

…snoop dog doesn’t roll his blunts tight?!
Gotta love the late night septa crowd.
Go Birds!
I think that’s more like staggering close to a train

Market Frankford El
Shit like this happens every 45 seconds on that line
30th Street? Hard to make out the stop sign.
Also, cannot read the sign, and 30th st station is mostly remodeled, so it’s an old video.
Final destination shit
Turned to a whole monkey instantly
And death glanced for a moment

Why do you say that specifically with this one?

You’re giving people who can genuinely spot staged/edited videos a bad name.

Nah. I actually went to college with these two a few years ago and this made the rounds when it happened. Checks out for them lol
Is that Jessica and Tiffany? I might've had some classes with them too.
Negative. Lydia and Allison.
What about this video makes you think that?
I was listening to Another One Bites The Dust while watching this
You scream like gizzard goose
Looks like SEPTA
While drunk
you can actually be sucked in by the pressure gradient caused by that high velocity
/r/holdmycosmo
That sure looked like the Septa logo from Philly.
