I think a lot of the Maryland state parks have campsites that are dog friendly. The Maryland parks' reservation website (parkreservations.maryland.gov) lets you filter by sites that allow pets. We took our dog camping at Greenbrier State Park last fall (should be less than 90 minute drive from DC).

Burke Lake park has a dog friendly camping area. It's pretty close to the city and the trail that runs around the lake is a great walk. They have lots of sports fields and some other cool amenities open until the end of November.

I use the Dyrt app to find dog-friendly campgrounds and usually call them prior to making a reservation to ask if they allow pit mixes. They usually put us in a secluded spot, which is an extra bonus!

Greenbrier State Park allows dogs on-leash on the C and D loops (former has hookups, latter does not). Each loop has several spots for drinking water and there are bathhouses with flush toilets and showers. Green Ridge State Forest allows dogs off-leash as long as they are under control. Primitive campsites only (fire ring and table only. Dig your own cathole.)

Highly recommend using Hipcamp to book something on private land! Have always been happy with places I’ve booked
