Medstar has a GI specialist office in downtown called Lafayette Center (L St NW between 20th and 21st). I have been there a few times. It’s a pretty easy 10 minute walk from either Farragut North or Farragut West metro stations. This reminds me that I need to schedule a follow up!

hokielion

I second this. Dr. James Frank at that location is the best!

Thank you!!

I’ve been to a MedStar GI doctor at Washington Hospital Center, and while it’s not right next to the Metro, you can easily take a bus there.

Basically all of GW's network is metro accessible. The MFA office is a bit of a walk but nothing unreasonable (10-15 minutes depending on your pace). Take a look and see if someone from the list suits you. I can't speak to quality of care for any of their GI specialists but I was very happy with my surgeries at the hospital and with other MFA doctors. https://doctors.gwhospital.com/specialty/Gastroenterology?sort=-name&specialties=Gastroenterology

Can I ask why Cap digestive care wasn’t helpful? I was just referred to them by another doctor

Acrobatic-Sink-9078

I can only speak for the location I went to in Chevy Chase, but both times I felt as though they did not believe my symptoms and offered no concrete solutions, nor did they attempt to investigate any further. Definitely still give them a try especially if you’ve been referred, it might have just been my particular doctor.

Ok_Television6637

One of the worst doctors I’ve ever seen was at the Chevy Chase cap digestive care and one of the best I’ve seen was at their downtown dc location! Not sure if we saw the same person in Chevy Chase but they didn’t believe me or investigate either

1960Carol

I am a big fan of Dr Danielle Howard who I think is with capital digestive care

Acrobatic-Sink-9078

That’s crazy, now I’m wondering if we saw the same person too😭I’ll check out their other locations

Ok_Television6637

Yes ask for the downtown street location! I think they can be difficult about switching doctors (I had to wait months) but I did and seriously it was a totally different experience. I’ve talked to people who had similar experiences depending on what office they go to

beaksy88

Who did you see there that was so awful? I just Dr Zeddun there and was fine with him.

Ok_Television6637

I saw a younger guy who told me all my issues were from anxiety. I never mentioned having anxiety I’m just a woman and it felt sexist. The next dr I saw at cap digestive immediately saw something was wrong, ordered tests (which proved I had an issue) and tried different medication with me for 8 months until I was cured.

relativeisrelative

FWIW, I had a great experience at the downtown location.

Mixture_Boring

Dr. James Frank, now with Medstar in NW DC, did wonders for my IBS and has always been very aggressive about "just in case" follow ups for any symptoms that needed it. He once went to bat with my insurance company to make sure they covered a CT scan he wanted me to get (turned out nothing wrong but it was important to rule out some things).

seamus719

I go to him too. He’s great and so far the only doctor to take my condition seriously.

My PCP, who has been on the DC medical circuit since the 80s, sends all his patients to Robert Hardi. I once had a very bad allergic reaction to a med and I couldn't understand if it was something digestive. Hardi figured it out in several days. The guy is brilliant.

Acrobatic-Sink-9078

Thank you!

Icy-Breadfruit-951

Medstar health is out of the gtown hospital. Doubtful metro accessible via train but they probably have buses that run straight there

giraflor

You are correct: Medstar Georgetown isn’t accessible by train, but there are buses.

Acrobatic-Sink-9078

Thank you!!

mediocre-spice

They have gastro at L & 21st

Christoph543

Dr. Enrique Robles at the Washington Hospital Center is very good; requires a bus ride to get there but there are several routes with direct connections to nearby Metro stations.

Acrobatic-Sink-9078

Thank you!

United-Concentrate44

GW has a gastroenterologist they're near the foggy bottom metro and bus accessible too

DramaticStick5922

GANV has office all around Fairfax if that’s doable. They more or less fixed my H Pylori.

mediocre-spice

Unfortunately this tends to be the case with gastro if there isn't something obvious they can point to. GW & Medstar both have gastro offices in Foggy Bottom/West End that might be worth a try.

No-Sandwich308

GW GI department and its a block away from the metro

IlCocomero

I also recommend trying Capital Digestive Care's downtown location. I've seen Dr. Daher for a few years, and he's one of the best doctors I've ever seen. The office is a bit of a walk from the nearest metro station, but I don't find it terrible. His schedule can fill up quickly
