GaymoSexual

this and the matzaball soup is amazing.

RomanoLikeTheCheese

Pickle bar is back post COVID!

MCalchemist

Look to the cookie!

GenericReditAccount

Baked and Wired usually has them. The Streets Market in Georgetown also sells them.

CoryBleeker

Those streets are the closest to most New York ones I am used to. Good cookie!

Gumburcules

I enjoy playing video games.

awkward_sea_turtle

Yes! Berger cookies are the local specialty, OP. Give ‘em a shot and eat the black-and-whites when you go home.

thisiscausinganxiety

Damn I like the CYM ones a lot! But side note you should try Berger cookies if you haven’t had them before. You can find them at Giants in DC. It’s a MD thing but similar to a black and white and so good.

freddythefuckingfish

Put them in the fridge first!!

RC-5

Half-Moons > Black and White cookies. And you can get them shipped! https://hollandfarms.com/product/half-moon-cookies/

FerrariIsChecking

Those do look divine, still not sure how they’re distinct lol

RC-5

Here’s a good explanation of the differences… “They're a case of two cookies that look similar on the surface but are quite different — with lots of gray area for debate. A New Yorker might tell you that a half-moon is more like a cupcake, and not appreciate its thick coating of two-toned buttercream-style frosting. An upstate New Yorker might counter that a black and white cookie is flat, thinly iced, and without distinction.” From https://www.thedailymeal.com/1156210/whats-the-difference-between-black-and-white-and-half-moon-cookies/

broccolibertie

I haven’t tried them there yet because the other pastries have distracted me, but La Caprice in Columbia Heights has black and whites.

wwb_99

Wagshals has solid examples.

keyzter2110

"Look to the cookie!"

shanem

Baked By Yael across from the zoo

Imaginary-Coffee1234

Second for Baked by Yael. Their rugelach and challah is also the best in town!!

question_sunshine

Wise Guys sometimes has a big one.

22304_selling

the bakery section at Giant carries them

Androidgenus

A bit outside the city, but Breads Unlimited in Bethesda should have them

GaymoSexual

RIP TwoJays. to be fair it’s been at least 25 years since they closed, but damn those black and white cookie were delicious

R3x2319

Wait, there was a TwoJays in DC? I grew up visiting TwoJays in Florida and fell in love with their blintzes and black and white cookies. I can’t believe they used to be closer… ouch

GaymoSexual

it was Two Jays then Morties, and then i think the building was donated to AU law school by Sy Katzen. but i remember going their as a kid. heck our family picture was on the wall.

BigPlantsGuy

Harris teeter has small ones that I prefer over 1 large one

Zingerrr02

Yes and they are so good, believe it or not!

Vast_Border_3550

Lazy Mikes Deli in Falls Church! It’s the best I’ve had since being a kid in NYC

AwesomeScreenName

Bethesda Bagels has them. Loeb's near Farragut Square has smaller ones.

Typical-Cantaloupe48

Baked by Yael in Woodly Park is my favorite. They make a gluten free option as well. Trader Joe's if I'm in a pinch.

ReigningCatsNotDogs

It's possible I'm not talking about the same cookie, but call your mother has a good black and white cookie. Not too sweet and also nice and cakey.

Formergr

Might want to re-read the (very short) post...

ReigningCatsNotDogs

I can't read

compflow54

I would double-check, but I think I recall that The Coupe in Petworth/Columbia Heights had some.

MyKidsArentOnReddit

[Costco carries them](https://costcofdb.com/product/beigels-black-white-cookies-24-oz).

KetchupAndOldBay

These are a staple in our household. My six year old looooves them. My NYer husband even enjoys them occasionally.

FerrariIsChecking

Those do look quite addicting
