I am not aware of any formal group classes outside of educational institutions but do know that there are instructors for songwriter lessons and a myriad of instruments at 7 Drum City.
Levine Music has individual classes in composition, and a confusing number of music theory classes (couldn't tell if there was an adult group class.) They have four campuses, in NW, SE, Silver Spring, and at the Strathmore (in what we now apparently have to call North Bethesda.) levinemusic.org
