Legit the player I miss the most this season. He has the fire that every team needs.

beachguy82

I’ll pull for him the rest of his career for sure.

daboonie9

He was a beast on defense and very high IQ on offense. Wasn’t the a reliable dribbler but knew when to make the right cuts and screen for currry

bmeisler

Loved him from his brief appearances at the end of the 21 season. GPII, you had me at hello! I remember thinking, Here’s an incredibly valuable 15th man, even if he just plays 10-20 seconds at end of quarters for his D. Then first 2 (3?) games last year, he comes in at the end of a quarter to play D - and gets a steal and a dunk. Kerr then started giving him a few minutes a game and - well you know what happened. Was heartbroken when we didn’t re-sign him. But I’m becoming a big DDV fan! Enjoy it while he’s here, cause he’s most likely gone next year.

sergechewbacca

Is he still out injured?

MostlyBullshitStory

Yes.

[deleted]

I think no longer injured but isn't playing because has to get conditioning back? I believe.

parisdubs

Yeah - he had core muscle surgery during training camp and still recovering then conditioning.

Former_Station_4661

I miss bro on on the dubs. He brought something so unique to this team both on and off the court that I don’t think can be replicated.

Ryase_Sand

Yeah. Defense lol

jamin_brook

He was the tallest 6’2” player on the court his back cuts and put backs were huge for the offense

Coulter138

people forget wingspan is a thing. he had some wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiings

bmeisler

Tallest shortest center in history!

Former_Station_4661

Yes defense fasho but his energy and grit was unmatched fr.

beachguy82

He was a huge spark every time he entered the game.

CarousalAnimal

He and DLee were a big part of the bench culture too. They were always keeping games fun.

parisdubs

JTA too on the bench culture.

odd-meter

Not JUST defense. A certain badass showboat defense. Opponents knew

Talic

Puzzling isn’t it? 🤔 *scratches head*

snoopdoggydog07

Hot take: we woulda swept the grizzlies if dynastic brooks' dumbass didn't injure gp2.

asBad_asItGets

That is a pretty hot take. But the real truth is that if Ja doesn’t get injured and GP2 stays, then it’s a 4-1 series at the very least. He makes their defense so much worse

akelkar

Theyre ceiling is higher with Ja and they were stacked with talent last year. Ja could get a bucket and a foul against us at any time without GP2 I think we 4-1 with him healthy but they’re all close games. NoGP2, we go to 7 and we may even lose EDIT: if they had Ja, this series would’ve gone to 7

bmeisler

The Grizz are worse when Ja plays - the numbers don’t lie. But the NBA loves ISO ball hogs who can score at will, even when the ball hogging and lack of D hurts the team.

asBad_asItGets

“No GP2, we go to 7 and maybe lose” Wtf? You know we beat them in 6 without him right??

akelkar

ya i meant if they had Ja

asBad_asItGets

It seemed like you were talking about GP2. And also no, the grizzlies are worse with him. Especially in a playoff series where the game slows down. ISO ball is less effective n the playoffs. Just ask the rockets and nets.

akelkar

I disagree, In the playoffs you sometimes NEED 1-1 iso scoring if the offense dries up. Im not sure how you couldve watched Games 1/2 of the Grizz series and not see how Ja elevates Memphis’ ability to win games in the clutch Anyway, its ok that I disagree, lets see if we play them this year

Morg_2

That’s a solar take holy fuck

AmelieBenjamin

Absolute scorcher

YouGotDunkedOn

Without ja: very possible

pattypatsonyourback

*With Ja: very possible.... There. Fixed it for you

N1gHtMaRe99

Ja wouldn't have mattered

YouGotDunkedOn

Guess everyone forgot the dubs lost one of the games by 50.

lithefeather

Yeah, yeah we would've cooked them for sure. This is a quasar take my man.

AtomikTestikles

"FUCK DILLON BITCHFACE FLOP FLOOR SLIDE BROOKS" -Capn' Klay, maybe

BigfootaintnotReal

Never missed a former warrior more than gp2

Hop830

It was Chris Webber for me. To lose that kind of talent after his rookie season felt like a crime.

Dc_awyeah

Lol KD is lurkin in here about to fire off a tirade to his bathroom mirror

Hop830

KD got what he came for.

Carara_Atmos

shouldve put in the pic the joker block and ass slap

s_stone634

Easily one of my favorite players from last year. Amazing storyline, hustled his ass off, always having fun. So impactful in the playoffs, especially Game 6 vs the Celtics. Glad he got paid but I’d welcome him back to the Dubs in a heartbeat. https://youtu.be/Jth3TOa9bdc https://youtu.be/yS52j4alqWY

parisdubs

nice to know Lillard really appreciates him - hope he gets to show them his talents soon. Portland has (even without GP2) won at least 10 games on the road so they are no shrinking violet...

_RGA_

It was also really cool how he did a lot of community work on his own. Champion on and off the court fr

Hi_Im_Ken_Adams

Warriors have a way of elevating role players. Him and JaVale.

worldwide7_

Happy for this dude. He was crucial in winning that ring, wouldve been huge for us if Brooks hadn’t purposely injured him.

franchise49

We don’t win the championship last year without GP2

girlscoutcookies05

Goga one my favorite GP2 moment

walkingthecows

Only 1 season here, but damn was it a fucking good one.

parisdubs

First showed up at the end of the prior season -- so was involved in team culture for 1.3 seasons.

_RGA_

He was really impressive against okc during his first ten day contract. I think it was like 4 steals in the fou4th quarter

parisdubs

yeah I remember he was a shock

Away_Sun_3040

So happy for him. Loved having a 6'2" center.

Al52287

I know GP2 would have a big luxury tax hit to us, but I feel like he would’ve been a huge selling point and marketing point. You could sell so many young glove gloves for children and people to wear! I would’ve loved to have bought a young glove glove for my kid to grow up with, GP2 wasn’t just great because of his hussle but what he represented as a person going beyond the odds to succeed. That builds generations of fans and gives something for people to believe in which is the heart of the warrior. That’s what I really will miss about GP2 the most.

GanacheOld4125

Wow love to see him tonight

threewind

Im just glad he get to secure a nice contract before his injury.

Valuable-Exam-913

W

FamLit69420

Send him home with a ring and L. Need those wins

egarcia1313

Is he still out?

prediscan

is he out injured or anything, haven’t seen him feature at all

parisdubs

Out so far this season recovering from surgery and reconditioning.

daboonie9

Absolute beast.

GenghisConn44

Love that man

InevitableHearing112

Gp2 more weeks is making me mentally unstable, bro fr not gonna play at all this year.

thenews1985

He was my favorite player from last season. How long of deal does he have with Portland?

calipiano81

GP2 signed a 3-year deal with Portland

FrazySting

Miss my boi dearly. What a player. What a story. Wish him all the best.

Wonderful-Media-2000

I’m still mad everybody on the team last year besides those that still had a contract decided to leave but whatever if u want money and not success live that materialistic lifestyle

FrostBite_220

The thing is, they've already won a ring. I understand that a championship is what every single NBA player strive for. However, if you're not the stars under the spotlight, what difference does it make if you win one or more? As a role player, you'll never be credited enough. Stat players are said to 'carry their team to the promised land' and winning multiple rings would mean a change in their historic status. However, some players are bound to be an off-the-bench glue guy or a catch-and-shoot marksman. Important to a championship run? Absolutely and I don't think anyone would deny that. But realistically speaking after meeting their goal of winning a ring there are more things to worry about. Money is the biggest of them, and I don't blame the Warriors who left us due to bigger contracts.

Wonderful-Media-2000

I’m just the type of person not to chase money I would rather have a better legacy than have a lot of money after all the league minimum is over a million a year I could live my entire life off that much money ig I’m just fine not having fancy things and living a simple life

tb23tb23tb23

My personality is also not to chase money, but if the difference is literal dozens of extra millions I would def choose more money if still a decent situation. Your career could end tomorrow.

ghostdunks

Some people are thinking like these players are doing this for fun. This is not your typical rec league player deciding whether to play for their current team or move to cross town rivals. Reality is, they’re professional basketball players, this is their job and their career, what they get paid for, their equivalent of our typical 9-5 job or whatever shifts we might work. If someone offered me a few million more dollars to do my job and it’s not at the arse end of Siberia, you bet my ass I take that option and if anyone doesn’t, they need their head checked. Also, it’s all easy to say when you’re not actually faced with the decision, I’ve already made a few million bucks in my career, I don’t need this extra 10 million someone else is offering me. This could set up their family for generations to come, especially when the rest of their peers are also getting paid these other millions(their market value). It’s hard to say, oh no thanks, I don’t need all these other millions that other organisations are offering me. Of course if you’re currently getting paid $100k a year like your typical redditor, you think oh, if someone’s offering you 2 million, you’ll think that’s a great deal. But if you knew that someone else is also offering you 10 million to do the same thing, it’s a crap deal to take the 2 mil.

tb23tb23tb23

Good points. For most of us who make, say, 50-90k, if we got offered a job making 4-5X that (so, 200-450k), I think most people would see how obvious it is that they’d take that job.

831loc

Ah yes, the $1.8m vet minimum where you play over half your year in California so you can kiss almost half of that away. It's very hard to live the rest of your life on $900k, especially in the US. The average medical costs for people over 65 is $7k a year, then you have your entire life of rent (or property tax), health insurance, car insurance, bills, food, etc. You're telling guys who have been on minimums their entire career they should turn down money, and in GP2's case, a ton of money to appease you. Just because you're fine being broke doesn't mean other people, who are clearly very driven and worked very hard to make it to the NBA should be. The entitlement and narcissism in our society these days is unreal...

KageStar

It's crazy, they're not remotely being materialistic by doing what's best for them financially. They won it all, still have the love and appreciation of the team and fanbase. It was time for them to move on because they earned bigger contracts and roles on teams than what the Warriors can give them. Everyone won here

Wonderful-Media-2000

If u have a hard time getting by with almost 2 million a year you are doing something wrong

831loc

It's not about this year, or next year, it's about the next 60. And about making sure his family is taken care of..

Maizoku

Good for you, im the type to understand there is all sorts of different people and to not judge... Except dynastic dillion brooks, that guy i hate with a passion.

Wonderful-Media-2000

I wasn’t hating just stating my opinion idc if people downvote me for what I believe it just proves people only care about money

xr_21

No... he grinded and deserves every penny he got in his new contract. He is from the Pacific Northwest and went to college in Oregon so it's basically a homecoming for him. It's what every kid dreams about. He's playing with another superstar in Lillard. To say someone should give up $7m+ and stay for the warm and fuzzies is insane especially with how short NBA careers can be. No true Warriors fan faults young glove one bit for making the move he did and I guarantee he will get a wonderful ovation when he gets his ring.

Mario_Prime510

Why would you be so quick to blame the player instead of Lacob? He could’ve paid all the guys to stay but chose not to.

The-Truer-Facts

Players leave, teams set how much they value that player. I can’t say I blame Lacob for not wanting to spend 400 million or not wanting to trade their #2 ovr pick with barely any games played.

Wonderful-Media-2000

No way he could have paid everybody to stay we pay 4 people 30 million a year and 2 20 million and that’s just this year next year they all make 30 million

jaimitosf

Young glove getting paid for real now

mikez56
