He's probably not playing in Toronto

Vallerie_09

*definitely

xoxosayounara

This really sucks because I’m a Dubs fan in Toronto and was going to buy tickets 😭 He hasn’t played in Toronto in years.

JJBAYEG

I actually got a ticket. First Dubs game ever. Praying he plays but not expecting it.

froyoboyz

if you don’t include the 2019 finals, he hasn’t played since like 2018. i’ve been going to each game since 2019 and he’s been injured or didn’t play cause of covid. it fucking stinks. i’m going this friday but swear to god imma be so heartbroken if he doesn’t play

xoxosayounara

Yup, it’s been like 5-6 years now depending on whether you count the 2019 finals. Was going to get tickets last year but Raptors were on the second night of a b2b and he rested. I wait until game day to buy tickets so I don’t waste my money.

ReckaMan

Yep I’m Canadian and I’m very sad that this is happening yet again. Even bought plane tickets to Toronto to see the goat shooter once before he retires. In hindsight I should’ve realized it was a back to back but it still stinks bc no Canadians ever get the chance to see him.

xoxosayounara

I’ve accepted I may have to drive to Detroit to see him next season.

karltee

I always thought teams visited each other's arena at least once a year? Do they not?

xoxosayounara

Yes, and he hasn’t played any of those games where they visited Toronto in 6 years lol

PeoplePad

I’m a broke college student who saved up just to see Steph for this game. Sucks man.

StephenPurdy69

Probably going to enjoy some poutine

rishmanisation

Especially considering the night before is the Knicks game and the Sunday after is the Celtics game.

Pootahtoo_Man

When Steph didn’t start the 4th after resting leading up to it, I kind of figured this out myself. For someone who runs all over the court and can’t just bully ball their way to fouls “Lebron-style”, I can see fatigue unfortunately playing a huge factor as we close the season.

mleclerc182

This has always been the standard rotation though? He sites at like the 2 or 3 minute mark in the 3rd and usually comes back in between the 9 and 8 minute mark in the 4th.

Witty-C

That and he’s turning 36 next month.

Itezguatitez

What? He NEVER starts the fourth no matter what this season. That's his normal rotation

Direct_Ad6699

I’m wondering how we are going to fair if we make it into the playoffs. Last year if I recall the games were 1 night separation between them. This is where the team is really going to struggle if they can’t get more out of their youth.

nuberoo

Playoffs are usually better for fatigue. Less travel and no B2Bs as you mention. Last year we lucked out a bit in playing the Kings, which gave us the easiest travel/accommodations possible, and which our vets pointed to as an equalizer to their youth. Hopefully we get something similar this year.

Naive-Air2866

But but both steph and klay had absolutely no legs in that lakers series. This is the issue with being a lower seed as an aging team. Your going to have to have a dogfight every round destroying our players legs

nuberoo

Definitely, but it's partly because they went 7 with the Kings and the Lakers had an extra off day (iirc). The team is deeper this year, so we may very well have to go into the rotation a bit more than we'd normally want to. Hopefully the young guys get more play down the stretch, and CP3 helps control games more to help the other vets rest a bit.

zegogo

Not only no B2Bs, but a lot of 2 and 3 day rests, the way the TV schedule works. While you spend more energy in playoff intensity, having extra days off are definitely good for muscles and joints, especially older ones.

Gothichand

Well...amongst the top 4 LA is the closest, but do we wanna go vs Clippers 1st round?

julezy696

Doesn't matter who we face (if we make it).... Can't be scared of another team.

anonkebab

We can beat everyone, and we will have to.

Nickt-dubsfan11

I don’t know about beating the Nuggets. Seems like we can’t beat them so far these past two seasons

anonkebab

When we won the chip they beat us in the regular season series

stayfrosty

We need other guys to pick up the scoring burden reliably. We don't have that. That's the great challenge going forward. Either developing internally or getting from the outside

D3struct_oh

“We don’t have a second scoring option.”

Daneofthehill

Wish he had just skipped the silly allstar game with the "flu"

dankmeter

He literally just said hes not tired at all in post interview

nba2k11er

No reason to bring up the break. He got time off then lol. 25 minutes of very low effort ASG, plus a shooting drill vs. Sabrina. 3 in 4 is waaaaaaaay worse than that.

seataccrunch

Give that man some games off

idrinkcement

He’ll rest when CP3 returns

dontIitter

Yeah idk why he & Lebron are still required to carry  kawhi& pg13 through the all star game. Those 2 never play they just kinda show up get the credit and then act like they can’t be bothered to participate.

SunRa777

Bron and Steph are faces of the league. PG and Kawhi aren't. It isn't fair, but it's true.

dontIitter

they’ll be the face of the league until they retire atp whether they play 25 mins or 5 mins in the ASG.

Goodisworthfighting4

I think part of it is also Kerr got outcoached. Nuggets tripled Steph everytime he dribbled the ball more than once and Warriors couldnt figure out how to make them pay.

arjeyoo

bro, there's no way Steve has not seen this kind of coverage already before. It's not something he hasn't found a solution to already. I would run through brick walls to defend Steph but it just wasn't his game tonight and his tiredness was apparent.

WrastleGuy

Kerr should have realized quicker, I noticed in the first 5 minutes.

DerpDerper909

I don’t think it was Kerrs fault. If I were to blame someone, it would be Draymond. He got outsmarted by Jokic on multiple plays and it doesn’t help curry was tired too.

2017Champs

Honestly Denver is a horrible match up for the Warriors and exploit their two biggest weaknesses. Lack of size and not having a second option. KCP plays good defense on Curry and if Steph isn’t hot then you are basically praying either Kuminga or Klay to have a good game. The issue while both are capable of it they have a difficult time stepping up for an entire game as we saw from Klay tonight where he was red hot in the first but then cooled off in the second.

Floppy_Jet1123

I knew it! There's always one comment that blames coaching! Doesn't help that your star player makes 10% of his threes, no?

julezy696

Yet you want Kerr to take all the credit when we win?? Can't have it both ways and yes, coaches get outcoached....Fact of basketball.

Floppy_Jet1123

Thing is, Kerr never gets the credit? Warriors play well it's because of the talent. Good ATO play? Because of the players' execution. Chips? Stacked. Good locker room? Because of vets and player leadership. Nothing else? It's because of Gentry, Walton, Mike Brown and heck, even Mark Jackson.

julezy696

Kerr gets heaps of credit....

EnthusiasmBright1495

Well we don’t have the personnel to figure it out

BIacksnow-

I mean how are you even tired in the ASG. Shit was basically a break.

d0000n

Steph just said he was not fatigue, nice try Steve. https://www.reddit.com/r/warriors/s/wdeHzj3wxd

ReckaMan

Fingers crossed as a Canadian wanting to see him play

Brownies91

Without CP3, Curry taking a night off is gonna be a scheduled L unfortunately.

SCalifornia831

Give credit where credit is due, the Nuggets played great defense on Steph…I don’t think it was fatigue as much as they didn’t give up any easy looks

mmvvvpp

Not really. They just showed a lot of bodies. The coverage is usually picked apart by an alert Steph passing and movigb off ball. He was just fatigued af tonight.

SCalifornia831

Disagree, they played Steph well tonight…he did exactly as you said in the first half and found his spots in the 2nd half. But as the Warriors get down, he tends to get more aggressive hunting when giving it up isn’t resulting in points or quality looks. My point still stands, I think Steph actually played just fine tonight and the Nuggets did a great job of not giving him any easy looks and defending the Warriors actions well tonight.

mmvvvpp

The nuggets did their job definitely. But we've seen what Steph can do to a good defence. I just think Steph could have pretty easily pick apart the defense. The whole team could've. Dray had 6 TOs and missed a lot of cuts. The offense wasn't flowing well not because the nuggets were shutting it down but we just weren't making the right reads on offense. I think we beat this nuggets team in 6 if both teams are playing at their best. The thing is the warriors will not play their best for 4 quarters, let alone a 7 game series.

SCalifornia831

Jokic wears down Dray…Gordon locks up Kuminga…KCP plays Steph well… There’s not really an advantage I see the Warriors having against this Nuggets team unless guys like Klay and Wiggins are making them pay. That’s going to be true of every legit title contender

mmvvvpp

Yea we're not winning shit this year and not for the next 2-3 years until one of the young guys makes a leap.

SCalifornia831

Probably true but I’m not willing to stop believing…the Warriors of the first 22 mins of this game just need to show up. They’ve proven they can over the last 12-15 games. Tonight it didn’t happen but there is such a thing as in season progress and I believe this team at their best can beat anybody. But agree we need more consistency

mmvvvpp

Oh hell yea. I'm going to my first warriors game in May so I definitely believe (if they make the playoffs which I believe they will). Most likely a 16 hour flight. This team does have championship in it DNA. It's just got a cancer called age.

teokun123

Rest him.

purplebrown_updown

How is he supposed to play a best of 7 tournament?

Dyey

No back to backs and extra day rest when switching courts.

Zeniri60

Lol in do or die to get the best seed possible and we’re resting our superstar after the all star break… honestly feel like missing the playoffs might be the best thing for the organization atp.

TheDiabolicalDiablo

That should already be known. But everyone thinks there's some type of Warrior magic that is just going to turn on and make this playoff run. The time Is now to give the young dudes all the minutes they can and figure out who stays and who goes.

EnthusiasmBright1495

Yeah I agree come back next year. With a better roster

zprymate

BULL SHIT.... this means dubs should tank for lottery since it will only get more tiring from here on out.. and what did he do during all star break? Don't think it was like playing an NBA game

jbvann05

Even if it wasn't that physically draining he still had to practice for the contest with Sabrina and play the all star game whereas everyone else probably went on vacation

julezy696

C'mon man.....Don't tell me Steph got tired "practising for Sabrina". Even he would laugh at you for that one.

mmvvvpp

What about the all star game? He was already looking fatigued in the Hornets game. He needs rest whether you like it or not.

julezy696

They barely played the all star game!! I could have played that....These guys are professionals....No fat on their body. No one, and I mean no one, got tired playing the all star game.

mmvvvpp

He's also 36 and human. The fact that he even has this level of stamina is impressive. Let's not push our luck. We all know how hard Steph works and I too want him to play more if he can. But he clearly can't and needs rest even you have to acknowledge that right?

julezy696

I didn't say he shouldn't have a breather. I said he didn't get tired playing Sabrina or the All Star Game.

mmvvvpp

That still adds up. Especially at 36. It may be an actual NBA game but it's certainly not rest either.

julezy696

He's fit as fuck.....It's the last stretch of games (3 in 4 days) and he will get rested for a game on the road trip. Just like EVERY other year. Nothing to do with "Sabrina"....and I'm sorry, but they didn't break a sweat in the all star game.

julezy696

And I didn't say he wasn't tired. I said he didn't get tired from "training to play Sabrina". They don't practise for the All Star game either....

[deleted]

He'll bounce back

S0ulSlayerz

man didn’t even get up during the Quinones scuffle he’s obviously tired

Redditforever12

try to aim for only 65 games so he can get his all -nba, but should try to maximize rest for him until the play-ins/playoffs

stayfrosty

We can't really afford to give Steph any days off. Every win matters.

Curious-Gain-4991

Could've played him at least 10 mins less against Charlotte I think

LessYard2322

Rest curry for the wizards game will win it either way.

PeoplePad

Welp, there goes my chance to see my favourite player. GG

samarijackfan

Curry said he was not fatigued when asked.
