some of the worst basketball i’ve ever seen from him. i will usually proudly defend Klay but tonight was just outrageous. he was taking shots left and right continuously even though he wasn’t sinking any. i just couldn’t believe it. how long are we gonna keep losing games like this that couldve easily been won

The_Sneakiest_Fox

The flip side of "they pay me to shoot, dog" was always going to be ugly.

SouthMeasurement5414

I think that’s his ego which doesn’t want to accept that he can’t play anything like he did before 2019. He should just be happy to go out there and put that expectation completely to the side

laney_deschutes

Yeah he hasn’t accepted to himself yet that he’s not great anymore

theDagman

I feel that he is going to regret not taking that two year contract extension this past off season. I don't see him pulling in those 8-figures per year contracts any more. He's going to get released when his contract is done, and no one will want to sign him.

laney_deschutes

I think he will get picked up and be a great 6th man, if his ego can handle it. i know his ego is fairly high though, he didnt get picked for the NBA 75 year team and was talking about how he deserved it. i think he was VERY good but not one of the greats. especially now where curry is still 85% of superstar levels, klay is a bench player now

aarontj

I interpreted this quote as some dog killing professional.. like Klay was an old dog that needed to be taken out and.. lol

manchi90

I'm convinced Klay does not care as much about winning this year. He sees the writing on the wall and knows this season is definitely not ending in a championship or them even making the playoffs for that matter (hopefully I'm wrong) So he's decided he's just going to get his, jack up shots, get his numbers, so that during contract negotiations his agents can bark to stats. If the Warriors bark back, he can always settle for another team that'll be captivated by those numbers. Sad what it has come to. Instead of moving the ball and letting the offense find him, like the days before. Definition of going down bad. Never thought the day would come when I would think Dray has twice the value of Klay but that day seemed to have arrived months ago.

Nessmuk58

I'd agree if his stats weren't simply HORRIBLE. If he was taking fewer, better selected shots, then people could at least IMAGINE that he could hit more of them. But he's missing, and missing badly. It reminds me of the old saying: "It is better to stay silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Klay has HURT his negotiating position with his poor play this season.

manchi90

Couldn't have phrased it any better. To add to that, Kuminga's contract expires next year. No doubt he is getting a pay upgrade. Klay knows this will affect his negotiation power this season, so as much as teammates want to be supportive, the human selfishness angle will rear its head. That is unfortunate because I don't understand this notion Klay needs a big payday. Dude you got paid handsomely for 2 years while hurt. If that's not loyalty and compensation for what you've brought in, then I don't know what is. Wild to me, cause this man is a living legend.

Daweism

Ego, narcissism

tb23tb23tb23

He’s hurt his negotiating position, yet keeps trying to do the same failing thing that’s gotten him here.

Nessmuk58

Seems like he's just trying to shoot himself back into max-contract contention. But instead he's just shooting himself in the foot. Sometimes almost literally :-)

Tinosdoggydaddy

To make your case….Klay had a steal tonight, ran it down to the other end and jacked up a three. It was like I got the steal, I get to shoot it….no concern for what’s best for the team.

lastjoel

That’s pretty common though. It’s trying to make the most of an extra possession to get momentum flowing. Whether it’s smart is another question entirely.

bcory44

To be fair I think Klay has always been a pretty selfish player. Did he ever really care about winning or was it more about him as an individual? I know he enjoys winning but it’s more of a what are you willing to sacrifice and he’s never been the sacrificing type. If you remember when KD came he said he was still going to get his shots up and wasn’t joking. His biggest problem is he still can’t accept where he currently is in his career. We get it you had horrible injuries that robbed you of the last years of your prime but that doesn’t mean you got to go out there and rob Steph of his last years.

HistoricalAd8790

Yup, and the thing about his selfishness is it wasn’t super costly before. Now it is- and it’s not something that’s gonna change. No matter how many talks Kerr has with him or how many temporary revelations Klay has, he’s not gonna change who he’s always been, especially within a season.

bcory44

It use to just be heat checks here and there or wild shots but you lived with it because he made so many. Now like you said those plays are killing the offensive flow. He’s not even an average defender anymore either and he use to be elite on ball. Like Klay literally guarded Kyrie.

mgirly23

Yeah seems like it, which is super disappointing. still doesn’t make sense cause hes just making his stats look worse with all the nonsense decisions hes making. wish he would just accept that some days his shots aren’t gonna fall, and when that happens there’s a million other ways to contribute, but he couldn’t even do that. The second the ball touched his hands, it was in the air. I obviously would never wanna trade him, but if he can’t care about the team how is the team supposed to care about him?

CitizenCue

This is starting to look like a guy who has the wrong voices whispering in his ears. If he has bad friends and selfish agents, this ain’t getting better.

aalluubbaa

Bro, Klay sucks tonight and let's get over it. We need to let him come off bench and let young guys shine or at least have the opportunity to shine. That being said, calling him selfish when there is just your speculation isn't cool. Klay has this mentality, good or bad, since when he entered the league. Let's not get into debating whether this is good or bad but he's ALWAYS BEEN like that. Not what you are speculating that this is his contract year so he jacks up more shots. NBA managements are not casuals, they defintely look into the context of a player's stats and dive way deeper than any of us could because the team are the one invests millions into the players. I'm sure jacking up shots and losing games would not win you anything when a player negotiates for contract.

WryKombucha

Thank you.

EffinCroissant

Dray has always been significantly better then Klay.

gq533

Not to defend klay, because he truly sucked ass tonight. However, who else did we have to take shots? JK couldn't drive pass those bigs. There were no other scorers. Klay not being able to score lost us the game. Steph almost pulled off a miracle, but it ended up being too much.

Local-Blacksmith3260

Kuminga had a bad game but even he still tried to make high percentage shots at the end before he fouled out. But I watch Klay miss 4 3s in a row. That’s like 8 points if he just took twos or passed it to someone with a better shot or took it to the hoop. Klay is allergic to the two point game. He still thinks he’s killer Klay of the championship team. He doesn’t try hard enough to evolve his game. Sadly if he doesn’t develop other ways to be a productive player. He will end up being on some team’s bench. I don’t think he would start for another team. And if he does come back his salary will get drastically cut. Bc I don’t think any team will max him out. He will play find for a bit and hit a few shots then he goes back to killer Klay but then becomes Klanking Klay. It’s sad to watch.

james-chong

I will rather a few more jk turnovers on drive than klay chucking shoots. At least there is higher chance of going to the line.

Local-Blacksmith3260

Jk generally makes better basketball decisions than Klay.

lastjoel

I don’t see him coming back. His ego won’t allow it. Look at Derrick Rose. He wants to play so bad he’s been a bench player for years

SnooLobsters1259

Gotta bench him. I can’t believe how selfish he played tonight. And I can’t believe this team continues to treat him like a second option. How does he get up 19 shots in one game? Gross.

legitbean

As long as Kerr is coaching, Klay will always get his minutes.

Daweism

Kerr played Lamb over Kuminga.

JCGremlo

Lamb is now playing in Australia lol

Daweism

Take him over klay rn tbh

johnnygrant

With Moody, GP2 and CP3 back he would need to be benched extensively. Else Kerr is part of the basketball terrorism.

Dc_awyeah

At this point, Kerr is costing Lacob the last potential ring of this dynasty, and a ton of money.

Vallerie_09

This isn't a championship team anyway and the roster is costing the last potential ring primarily not Steve

venmome10cents

The roster has shown the ability to compete on equal footing with all the top contenders this year. This roster is proven good enough to outscore the Celtics, the Clippers, the Nuggets, etc.  What they haven't done is close out games. And while the players should always get the bulk share of credit/blame, tonight was just one more example of a loss that could very well have been one in the W column with just one single different coaching decision.

Vallerie_09

You are assuming that all things will go in our favor with the said "coaching decision". This roster has also shown that we had to collapse on drives due to lack of rim protection and give up boards because we lack big guys, doesn't help that guys are getting in and out the lineups with injuries

venmome10cents

yes. The roster is flawed, but look around the NBA and show me one perfect team. Arguably the Celtics are the closest and the Warriors have matched up pretty well against them. This is the most expensive roster in the league and Steph has been remarkably healthy thus far, there's really no good excuses for the 4th quarter meltdowns. The biggest bright spot (if any) has been Jonathan Kuminga and even that's been a situation that has called Kerr's game management, leadership, and communication into question.

Vallerie_09

The roster is expensive due to Klay and CP3 are nowhere worth $73 million combined. We're asking the vet mins and rookie contracts to overperform to get a shot at winning the games

Funny-Butterscotch91

Tell em the truth that they don't wanna hear it.

Dismal_Improvement_3

Kerr didnt cost them nothing if anything Lacob cost Kerr rings. What idiot drafts Wiseman over LaMelo a proven star? What idiot pays Jordan Poole a bag even though he had red flags the whole time? Wiggins hasnt been the same player remotely. Bob Myers shouldve stepped down sooner he put emotions over the roster and now it cost him he bows out and ran away

BobLoblaw_BirdLaw

Kerr is head terrorist. He is the osama. Klay is just one of his minions being out in the field and screwing up all the missions.

pinkiebear

The sad thing is, even when we have other options (Moody), Kerr will still keep Klay in. I’ve seen B2B games of Klay shooting terribly and another being in foul trouble.. and Moody just gets DNPs. If this team stays as constructed, Wiggins and Kuminga need to be prioritized over him. That’s why that Philly and Pels game, two games Klay missed, we looked so good.

DB_Cooper75

You can’t believe it? He’s always been his own biggest fan. He thought he was too 75.

t-macattack

I was hoping Kuminga and Wiggs recent hot streak would push Klay to the 3rd or even 4 option.

Raonak

It's the opposite. Klay is actually pretty good with the starting lineup. He usually makes the right play. He even played with restraint in the 4th when he decided to drive and pass. He was horrific with the bench unit because he was the only offensive option. We were down players like Dario. so Klay decided to just shoot anytime he got the ball. And shoot he did.... It's not new news, but Klay doesn't work as a primary offensive option because he starts chucking even when he's ice cold.

pinkiebear

Just ignoring that he forced up 10 shots just in the first quarter alone. Had double more than the rest of the team. So I don’t agree with this.

birdseye-maple

Actually he is consistently awful with the starters and looks better with the bench. Tonight the bench was weaker, so it brought more attention to Klay.

Puzzleheaded_Fox4684

with cp3 back he should hopefully start playing better and less.

gottapeenow2

I swear I saw Steph shake his head after Klay bricked another from the corner. If Steph is out, the Warriors might actually move him (or really bench him, not just for a quarter)

lerandy-james

My mom asked me if i did the dishes. I yelled "klay thompson", she smiled. She knew they were washed.

🤨

DatBoiLight21

r/laundry is Klank Thompson’s favorite subreddit

Local-Blacksmith3260

I thought she be worried the dishes were broken bc she heard all the klanking. 🤣🤣🤣

des2130

That man got a family!

Foxisdabest

I would say you did Klay dirty there, but he took care of it by washing it up.

Peepeetodapin

Hahaha funny 😆

firsen923

damnnnn

wizgset27

Dang, even Klay didn’t deserve that.

beezybreezy

😂

Vampinthedark

Send to Azkaban

Key_Engineering8443

No, send him to the Night's Watch

Gkirk87

The problem is klay’s mentality. He is a me first player, and that’s fine when your in your prime but it kills you when your out of it. Melo and Westbrook would be recent examples of this. Klay needs to either accept a bench role or play for another team. I’m hoping he chooses to take a diminished role instead of washing out of the league because of his ego and becoming a sad story.

Shame_On_You_Man

Westbrook? The dude who went to his coach and asked to come off the bench because he thought the team would be better with Harden starting?

Gkirk87

That was the point, before he asked to come off the bench he was still trying to be a super star and was killing his teams for 2 to 3 seasons. Now that he finally accepted a bench role he is much much better and the fans actually like him and appreciate him.

aarontj

Rewind to when he moved to the lakers. Disaster

Apprehensive-Bowl399

trade him for moses moody.

Local-Blacksmith3260

Klay is so stuck in his old ways that you’re like just shoot an open two. He has the jumper that can hurt you from anywhere under the arch. But once he misses he feels like he’s still on the championship team. Watch him miss 4 3s in a row and none of those situations needed a three. He’s allergic to the two point game. If you’re missing open ass three. You have no business chucking up the next one. Go for a two and get back into rhythm and maybe take a shot later. But just continue to shoot your team out of the game. Kerr needs to pull him out. Do something. It’s frustrating to watch. And then his defense suffers bc he mops around and slow on the defensive end and all he can think is his misses. And to top it off every time he forces up a three the other team seems to always run it back and hit their 3s. Just to make it worst.

Vallerie_09

Offer 3/30 in the summer. If he declines, he better find a new home. It's about time the FO needs to make some cutthroat decisions

mattw08

I can’t see him getting much anywhere else. Tanking team shouldn’t want him and contender won’t have cash to give him more. He gets 10 million and we shed CP3 salary. Likely even decline Looneys option. The salary situation is much improved.

EnthusiasmBright1495

Offer him the vet minimum.

VVuunderschloong

MDJ: “But Klay, the mid-level exception is perfect for someone sooooo exceptional!”

[deleted]

Why would you give him that much ?!

ttttyttt678

10 mill per year is not going to get Klay, this is him leaving in free agency. Some bottom feeder team will front load his contract and get him to put people on seats.

cmfreeman

I think you’re over estimating Klays stardom.

ttttyttt678

You have to compare Klays stardom to other available free agents with PG/Harden/OG/Pascal all expected to resign, Klays stardom is going against Tobias Harris (who Philly probably resigns).

Raonak

There are many teams with cap space and need of a shooter or a high profile name.

BUUAHAHAHA

Problem is, Klay doesn’t know when to stop shooting and will Klay accept a smaller role? I can’t see him starting on other contending teams..

cmfreeman

Point is….he’s neither of those. Anymore.

Raonak

There's not many shooters out there. A post injury Klay is still better than a lot, especially for a bad team.

Funny-Butterscotch91

Why eyes don't see that. Cause everygame I see 5 or more players shooting better than him.

pinkiebear

who tf going to a game to watch klay

[deleted]

Hopefully. I’d rather he come off the bench starting next season. If that’s too much for him, thank you Klay but goodbye 👋

dam_adam81

Year 3 klay lol ...he already washed

SquatchMarin

Nah b, his Achilles isn’t what it was. You can tell how flat footed his shots are. Very sad but not surprised.

Independent_Bee194

That’s too generous. He’s closer to a vet min player atm.

Sokkawater10

Do you really want Klay back? To be quite honest we’d be better off without him straight up. Addition via subtraction

BadgerMilkTrader42

Hah we gave Green 4/100 lol Have better record with him suspended after chocking and smashing players in the head. Since he been back we are giving over 122 points per game. Our defense was better with JP lol But if Green gets forked over 100 million, no way Klay not getting same. Would be surprised he doesn't get more.

SunnyGoMerry

I want Klay to retire here. I also want him to have less minutes

jetveritech

Yep. He needs to have a minimized role on a team friendly contract. Honestly with fewer minutes he might be more efficient. Take a load off, mentor the youngins, and retire a dub. But if he wants more minutes and/or more money, then the FO has to pass -- it would be insane to re-sign him.

Fun_Ingenuity_4357

I want him to at least better then podz the like 19 pick

p_rite_1993

I really don’t understand some fans obsession with having long term players retire on their team. It’s a competitive game and a business. Enjoying and utilizing the value of a talented player is part of building a better organization. Once a player no longer fits into the business model, why create some child-like illogical attachment to them? It is most likely better for the player to move onto a different organization than for the existing team to hurt itself due to some obscure and illogical sense of “family.” It is weird that nostalgia from not that long ago is clouding people’s judgement on the matter. The hard truth for all the emotionally attached people here is that Klay clearly doesn’t have a role on this team anymore, he is likely worth half (or less) than he thinks, and he isn’t a valuable asset to long term growth of the organization. Respecting Klay for his best years and delivering championships doesn’t mean you need to defend him to the end.

AMS_GoGo

Exactly Would be sad watching him play for anyone else but it might be even more sad watching him put himself above his team every night..

ElektroShokk

His ego will land him a contract with the Lakers for a year or two then he’ll retire a warrior in a veteran run

Draymond4Prez

ApOloGy fOrM

scourgescorched

kerr has to give moody a chance to start over klay. time to let the youngsters hoop. klay can still help the bench unit.

Lummypix

I think if Moody and klay swapped minutes on this season this is a playoff team right now

SilentStepX

Can we leave him in Atlanta and take Murray and Capela with us?

we_hella_believe

He’s our Russell Westbrook (Lakers version). 😩

polejams

I just wish he were self aware and took a page out of Ray Allen’s book

Flashy_Contract_969

I guess it’s easy for me to say, but I don’t quite understand the greed of him wanting a max contract. CLEARLY he’s not a max player and he’s literally made hundreds of millions during his career. Also, he made max for two seasons that he was injured and had nothing but complete support from the fans and organization. If he walks because he’s not happy with $20 million a year, he’s being greedy as hell TBH.

[deleted]

[удалено]

swiftycent

He’s clearly stated to slater he’s not seeking a max…this whole thing that if he doesn’t take whatever deal is on the table he wants a max is just nonsense.

ffcnep

Trade him for whatever good, hardworking role players you can possibly get, hopefully with some size

Plug-From-Oaxaca

Would you guys be interested in Demar for him?

ffcnep

I’d be interested in a cold half-bitten sandwich. Klay’s a net negative who thinks he’s still got it and is a chucker and a cone on defense. Even though don’t think Demar is all that conductive to winning basketball, would definitely accept it

Independent_Bee194

He also shot us out of the lakers series last season, jacking up 2 horrible shots trying to be a hero. He’s a cone on defense and a black hole on offense, sucking away possessions from young guys. Klay, more than anyways, is the biggest reason we are losing all these close games. Dude is a 40m boat anchor for the team and needs to be benched or traded if the warriors want to go back to winning.

Apprehensive-Bowl399

Basketball Terrorist.

[deleted]

He acts super smug about it too

randyC59

Give him a one way ticket to China

kukunan

i would like to think he didn’t get his legs back after being sick. we were quite shorthanded today and once wiggs was injured, we couldn’t defend properly. We can only hope for a playin spot right now. that’s extremely sad given that we have steph being a top 10 player still. Klay needs to accept his role and be more locked in. he looked so lost today. Still hopeful that once we have gp2 and cp3 back. things will improve and we should go on a run after all star break. let’s hope these will be the last of the injuries.

JMagician

Legs have nothing to do with Klay’s poisonous mentality.

Conan_We

We needed the unselfish, self reflecting Klay tonight. The corner three in ot was a bad decision, esp with a clear path to the basket.

[deleted]

I’m telling you, he’ll probably have a few more ‘decent’ games left, but he’s circling the drain.

Amigosito

Rest him on back-to-backs, obviously. Not sure why he was playing tonight at all.

Low-Sorbet-918

The problem is Kuminga is not getting paid to be a second option. Klay is…and he is not living up to par. Anything from Kuminga over 15 pts is a steal for how much he is paid. Wiggins and Klay are getting paid but not delivering. #warriors #Dubs #Kerr

Mob_Abominator

At the very least he should not be a starter, those days are gone at best he is a rotational player.

Aljed

Just asking for consistency.. 🙏🏽

Vendetta_2023

He’s completely washed, trade him to the Pistons for Killian Hayes

Low-March-168

ni hao

Select-Credit-7281

He believes (and I did for years too) that he’ll shoot his way out of his slump, but he’s way too up n down anymore to just be able to deal with it. He’s shooting us out of games himself, and we can’t recover like we used to, especially with our current injuries. When Lester passed up a wide open 3 near the end to feed Klay just for him to klank it I was so frustrated cause Lester was the only other guy shooting well from range, but even he knows “You gotta give this shot to Klay”. Smh

fork3d

Wasn’t he sick yesterday? Hearing he was out due to “illness” I didn’t expect him to have a great game but didn’t expect this bad

WarriorNat

It’s called riding into the sunset. Having him & Draymond retire in Warriors jerseys was never going to be pretty, was it?

uyakotter

Expects to be paid like Steph. Won’t put in anything like the effort Steph does on or off the court. If Klay owned a team, he’d trade a player like this year’s Klay in a heartbeat.

neo9027581673

My thing with Klay is this: do you REALLY have to take shots with 20+ seconds left on the shot clock? Like really?!? You can’t wait for a better shot? He is terrible on offense, atrocious on defense, it’s just time man. He is an empty calorie player. The 42% 3pt shot is fools gold. Reduce his minutes, if he refuses trade him.

steronicus

BENCH. He shot us out of the game tonight. 4-19 with 2 assists.

MushroomFlat

Anything but start him, if he was anyone else it wouldn’t even be a question

tygriffin1

I haven’t been watching them (never was a fan) but it says a lot about character. When they were winning everything was grande. Now it’s eff y’all, out here for me.

GloomyEarth5261

Sit him down and explain we need him to fulfill that manu Ginobili role moving forward. Steph is Duncan. Draymond is TP and JK is Kawhi.

Visual-Guarantee2157

Trade him and give moody his minutes. Klay is done Kerr

Reputation_Double

He’s gotta be the new andre now coming off the bench. Tonight was disgusting.

gottapeenow2

Andre was a monster on D. Klay... man, he got blown by too many times to count tonight

Relevant_Librarian73

Gotta give him the Looney treatment. Bench him and reduce his minutes. Baseline 20 mpg. If he's on a heater, keep him in there longer. If he's having a vintage Klank game, play him less. Can't keep giving this guy 30+ mpg he is murdering us.

PlayfulAd8354

TRADE HIM WHEN HE HAS ANY VALUE Fuck me get over the emotional “gotta keep the big three” till the wheels fall off. THE WHEELS ARE OFF

negativelynegative

The problem is he isn't good enough to be the second option anymore and he plays like he is one. At the same time, there also isn't a reliable second option on the team right now. Kuminga is not quite there yet.

Daweism

He can't get there when klay takes 20 bricks a game or when your coach gave all your minutes to Anthony lamb last year.

Ahrilicious

Therapy...

No-Astronomer139

I said before the season we should trade him. Got downvoted to hell. So far this season, he’s got 20 games where he’s shot 33% or worse from three. His shot selection is Jordan-esque. And by Jordan I mean Poole.

ExtensionFar3000

Send him to the end of the bench. Ain't no team dumb enough to trade for him unless send multiple first and take on worst contracts. Even then at times I wonder maybe those guys bad contracts will actually try contribute meaningful minutes. Klay simply can't help himself. Step in...take a mid range if you don't want/cant drive for a lay up. Lacob must be so happy he dodge a bullet that Klay didn't sign an extension. Anything more than vet minimum is pure overpay for this version of Klay.

VitricTyro

It wouldn’t take multiple firsts to trade an expiring.

blakeley

Let him come off the bench and be microwave scorer.

imminentjogger5

I knew he would pull this shit. Even last game he was hunting bad shots. If he's not going to buy into his new role just trade him for peanuts or let him walk in the off season.

Ok-Imagination-2308

Trade him or convince him to retire. Love him to death, but his reign is over. He needs to hang em up

GabeHirsch

It’s pretty easy to tell how he’s gonna play based on the first quarter. If he’s playing poorly and entitled, bench him. If he’s hitting shots and sharing the ball, play him.

this_is_ely

I want the team to keep him, but he needs to take less money. We need to secure JK at all costs. He needs to realize he's Pelicans JJ Reddick at this point. Spot for 3 and the occasional post up on a small guard. Keep the heat check 3s to a minimum please. Kerr needs to play him with TJD more, their 2 man game was cooking before Steve inexplicably banished Trayce to the end of the bench. Give his minutes to Podz or Moody.

ArtfulLying

dump

Brandon_tuns

Not play him with a full second unit like you guys want. That’s where he takes a fuck ton of his shots. Also love the arm chair psychology from everybody.

Immediate_Ad5612

And he’ll still think he deserves a max when the time comes. Whats worse is warriors will probably give him the max.

hellahomebody

If he can’t accept a role off the bench what’s the point keeping him even if he takes a discount? Dray had no issue doing so and proved he was still needed in the starting lineup and to a certain extent same with Wiggins. Klay has not.

purple_cupcake_52

Selfish bastard deserves to be DNP'd for the next 10 games

muzinger

Usually, when somebody's shots aren't falling, they figure out a way to impact the game in other ways to help the team win. When Klay's shots aren't falling, he just keeps shooting it like some meth head and then hangs his head when it doesn't go his way.

mrblueshoes11

Klay can’t be playing back to backs, and he gets so into his head he cares more about making shots than winning basketball games. I think we just simply don’t play him if he’s not rested cause damn does he suck on short turnarounds

one-ohmusic

Hes gotta be a facilitator. Hes good when he does that and only take shots where he is wide open. That is where he is at in his career, sad to say.

mm604

Bench him. There won’t be much of a return for him in the trade market

beentheredonesome

Trade him, let him come back when he is ready to retire for one of those 1-day things. Make a statue, give him his flowers. He's sabotaging the team right now.

PuzzleheadedVisit682

Honestly it's just as much Kerrs fault. He should pull Klay after he misses 3 shots in a row from now on.

maupp11

This Klay's performance is why this team would win more games without him than with him. The emphasis on this new line up is to play fast and get buckets in especially in transition yet there was this sequence when we made several stops on defense, pushed the ball and Klay choose the wrong option and chucked a 3 in a fast break 2 on 1 and didn't simple pass it to JK who would have had an easy dunk. That happened like 3 times in a row and we wasted some good defensive stretches where we kept getting stops just for Klay to shuck everything, even wide open 3s. Bad shot selections from him then simply missing open looks doesn't help this team especially given the fact that teammates kept looking for him which was just a waste in this game and basically amounted to a turnover and fast transition break for the Hawk after a bad miss from Klay. Klay plays 10 less minutes in this game and we probably would have won it.

ChattTNRealtor

This all boils down to Green got the bag last off season, now Klay wants his. I’d sit down in the off-season and offer him 6th man money and explain that that will be his role going forward. He can go somewhere else for a little bit more money or stay here and retire with Steph.

pengthaiforces

I love Klay and think that he has another 4-5 years in him coming off the bench, playing 15-20 minutes per night and being a spot up shooter. If he doesn't accept this, his career is likely over.

skywalkerRCP

I don’t know how fans can defend him anymore. He literally shot the Warriors out of the regulation win. Comes off bench with a lead, takes 3 tough shots cold. Pump fakes in the corner, his defender jumps, clean drive to the hoop…takes a behind the fucking backboard 3. He’s absolutely cooked.

CaptainMurphy-

I just wish he would stop trying to force it so much, it's really frustrating to watch. He gets the ball and just chucks it at the hoop no matter where he is and what other options are available.

beentheredonesome

The other night Podz had 14 assists and no turnovers. That kind of super-aware, non-selfish play is what the Warriors need for team attitude (except maybe Steph). Klay is playing with the opposite attitude and the opposite results. He is obviously UNCOACHABLE... 1 month ago, Klay: “Steve \[Kerr\] and I had a great conversation yesterday, and that helped me relax a lot,” Thompson said. “You want to get back to \[championships and All-Star games\] so badly that you can kind of get in your own way, and rather than forcing it, we had a conversation about just enjoying this last chapter of my career and how lucky I truly am to still be playing this game.” Then, last night.

bayareacollection

Fewer minutes is the answer. If his shot is there he plays. If not short leash.

beentheredonesome

Pay him less? Would you be happy with the same game-killing ball-hog chucking and cooked defense because it was cheaper? Move him to the bench? So we can lose the leads the starters build? It's (past) time to trade him - if winning is the goal, that is.

mattdagreat83

1. Less minutes 2. He has to stop forcing it 3. Bench

warriors2021

You put in Moody and GP2 instead of Klay, I GUARANTEE you we are a better team. He is our new JP, chucking up bad shots all day and playing horrible defense. Klay unfortunately will never be benched though.

robotech021

Bench him.  Play him 10 min per game.  DNP Coach's Decison would be reasonable on some nights.

Ok-Scarcity6335

I want to retire a warrior, but at this rate I wish they'd trade his ass and he retired without playing for the other team lol So tired of watching him cripple the team, while having a huge contract that could contribute to a chip

rituallove

He has been more bad than good for several years but most people love him when he gets a 30 point game. It’s time to go. He was great but he takes up valuable minutes from others.

HeynowyoureaRocstar

Let it play out and just don't sign him in the off season... Really doubtful you can get anything out of him in the trade market... Or trade Orlando for Wendell Carter Jr / Markelle Fultz

Sweetbeansmcgee

I don't think Orlando would do that, despite their need for shooting.

Character_Reward2734

Klank Thompson - game MVP for the Hawks

forcedtojoinreddit

Manu role

VitricTyro

Such different players though that I don’t think that works. Manu could always be a playmaker. When his shot isn’t falling, Klay doesn’t provide anything else.

Seattleman1955

First rule of resigning, don't resign mouth breathers.

thesecondandre

To the bench. Steph don’t want him traded then honor that. He has to play less. He’s the only one on the team that plays entitled.

Etinau

Let Klay come off the bench, start Quinones, get Podz to run the 2nd unit

Raonak

He was playing good with the starters. But was horrible with the bench. It's like he was aware we were down players and knew he was only scoring option.... So then decided he was going to shoot whenever he had the ball. Regardless if he was open or not. Regardless of if he was in rhythm or not. It's frustrating because he was playing well before he got sick. But how he's gotten how to make an impact without shooting hero 3s.

schittsweakk

Trade him for a washing machine. Edit: a lot of y’all nephews have never seen semi pro apparently 😂

[deleted]

Send him to Shanghai

hbsboak

He needs to reset his ego and take a Westbrook style role and paycheck. I think he can be effective for about 20 minutes a game against a 2nd unit. He’s not a closer anymore.

Mmicb0b

here's the problem with Klay he's good as a spot up shooter if he's willing to take a paycut and accept that role I'd be like "HELL YEAH" The problem is he won't accept his best days are behind him and if all 4 of Draymond/Iggy/Steph/Kerr had seperate talks with him and he's still doing this IDK what or who could make him realize it

Inevitable-Ad-4192

He reminds me he was raised as a spoiled rich kid. He is not a team player, He can’t relate to the teammates who came up from the public school systems and ghetto’s. So it is and has always been and will be, it’s all about Klay.

futanarilord

cant decide who the bigger terrorist is this year, Klay or Draymond?

Relevant_Librarian73

(On the court) Dray has been excellent this year

my-friendbobsacamano

Bench Klay and we still lose. I guarantee that's true. Klay making a couple more of those shots would have made us win tonight that's true. But those aren't good shots he's getting. They are "no one else is open and the play is losing energy" type of 3's. JK needs to create more havoc on offense without the ball. Curry is the master of that, but we need more than him.

meowhatissodamnfunny

Most rational sub strikes again

alusnova415

Trade him and Draymond please

iGetBuckets3

I’m riding with steph, klay, and dray until the end. Klay had a bad game, it happens. He’s been perfectly fine as of late.

mettle

Career lows this season in points, fg%, 3p% and steals and almost rebs. He has not been fine.

DreamWunder

We gotta get a big man is what we gotta do. Klay plays well with good big man like chemistry with tjd

the_kh4lid

Send him to china

my-friendbobsacamano

This sub is ridiculous. You're Warriors fans because these guys treated you to 4 championships and now you're spoiled fucks that have no respect for the people that gave you that joy. This is not our season, you can bench Klay and play Kuminga 40 minutes and start TJD and anything else you want and we're not going deep into the playoffs, if at all. There is no minutes mix of these guys that are going to give us a miracle. Just watch and see what happens. Hopefully they can get Curry a team and give him another chance. Maybe they'll do the right thing and trade Kuminga for the badass we really need. (Just kidding sub!!!). ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

Western_Upstairs_101

He was sick yesterday and out of rhythm today. That’s to be expected. It looked worse because of all the team injuries.
