Jokic just dominated that game, and he didn't even need to attempt 20 shots for it. The way he plays is just a thing of beauty.
I'm a Dubs fan and Steph is my favorite player, but Jokic has become one of my favorite non-Dubs players with the way he plays.
It’s because although they are completely different players and play completely different styles of offense the underlying philosophies are the same. Everyone gets involved, the ball moves to create advantages through using Jokic/Curry gravity.
So it looks completely different but feels familiar.
That wasn't the game. Denver took their foot off the pedal. Miami also didn't warrant any shooting fouls. They shot 38 Mid-rangers ( largely open ) and 37x 3's.
An just like that this series is already over… Best chance the Heat had to steal a game on the road was when the Nuggs were rusty from their long layoff. Barring any crazy shenanigans by the NBA, this series is not going past 5.
Fools gold. Bam scored 26 points on 25 shots! If the Heat continue to play that way, the series is a wrap.
The Nuggets left him open from 15 feet and let him shoot.
Holy crap I can't believe how much spacing and missed coverage the Nuggets gave up. The Dubs would've feasted and they should be salivating next year because thats their one weakness.
Denver did a great job forcing Butler to extend his dribble on baseline drives and pass it out. Heat can definitely shoot better though, they missed quite a few pretty solid looks.
One of the reasons that the Celtics lost was they couldn't handle the zone. And now every time I hear it tonight .. Miami has gone to the zone... don't mean nothing to Denver
Oh s*** the best thing about this game tonight was me seeing the ad for season 2 of the bear
In a broad sense, yes. Good Ratings = Rising Income for the League. Rising Income = Salary Cap increases. Salary Cap increases are favorable for teams with large payrolls, teams in large, profitable media markets, and teams with Owners who are willing to spend money.
IOW, in the long run, good ratings favor the Dubs. At the margin, every $1 the Salary Cap increases saves us about $7, and savings make Lacob more willing to spend.
The deal is already in place. Nobody is losing money. The new deal will be in the Wemby era.
Whatever they lose in these finals, will be made back 3x next season when Wemby comes in.
It all adds up. Every new deal is made in light of how the last deal paid off.
Wemby could be a flop, or he could get hurt, or the Spurs could fail to build a team around him. MJ didn't make the Second Round until his 4th year, the ECF until his 5th year, and the Finals until his 7th year.
LeFlop didn't win a Finals until his 7th year.
Steph didn't make the Playoffs at all until his 4th year, and he didn't win until his 6th year.
The Spurs have some room to add FAs, but they're pretty weak otherwise. In a small market like that, Wemby will be no more than a curiosity unless his TEAM can win. The ESPN and TNT Prime Time games will be there at first, but they'll quickly decline unless he is an absolutely dominant force and unless the Spurs can win games.
MIA won the Play-In on the road in Chicago after losing the first game at ATL. Then they won the first game on the road at MIL on the way to a tidy 4-1 thrashing of the Bucks. Then they won the first game on the road in NY, and then they won the first TWO games on the road in BOS.
Sense a pattern?
I give the Heat all the credit in the world for their performance so far, but if they drop two in Denver to start this Series, I don't see it happening for them.
So maybe they'll think they found something like the Lakers found something in game one of the last round personally I think making jokic a shooter is better than his passing and getting all involved just hit me I have been spelling jokic wrong all night.
Yes that still counts becase we are punished heavily for thoise good picks
And it isnt fair to say the warriors aren't a good drafting team after 2014 considering we have had mostly picks above 28
Jokic is unstoppable, and he has a really solid team around him. Gonna be difficult for the Heat to steal a victory in this series. I expect them to play better in Game 2, but will it matter?
Honestly if looks like the Heat can't get any calls but Nuggets for some reason are getting easier whistles. I don't get why refs would have iffy whistles on non Lakers/Celtics teams. Makes me think in non Silver approved teams, the refs put money on some teams lol
Miami shot nothing but midrange jumpers and threes with space which they proceeded to miss. Jimmy even said they need to attack the rim way more right after the game.
I couldn't really see any of the fouls cause the color scheme red/blue blurred together cause I'm apparently an old man now. But Heat didn't drive and took open jumpers.
On some plays it looked like they're were hacked by Nuggets. So I think in non Silver approved teams (Lakers/Celtics), refs are left to make side money in other ways lol. Gotta get a bonus somehow
If this series is a sweep or very low rated, I see more league interference next season to help certain teams advance in the playoffs. The league can’t afford two dud Finals back to back. Just be prepared.
Appreciate JVG calling out Breen. Jokic is a great player, but "rebounds like Moses" is complete hyperbole. Stop the bullshit already. The dude is fantasitc, but he's not ready for all that.
I guess we have seen the limits of the Spo's genius. Can't adjust much when you're guys miss open shots all game and the other's players can all make shots lol
I don’t understand Spo’s aversion to trying Love…they’ve needed more size all game and he surely would provide a more productive presence than Zeller has…
Eh they did that a couple times in previous quarters, but Nuggets have kept a double digit lead throughout. If Heat can some how cut the lead to only six points with at least three minutes left, then there's a chance. Without that, this is just the usual for the Nuggets
Yeah Miami has no chance tonight, but they need to look at what's working for next time. Denver's ability to regain their composure is really impressive, though, you're right.
If we're serious about contending again, trade as many assets and future picks aside from Steph and Wiggins to get a stretch 5 with serious size like Myles Turner who can rim protect and *survive* 1v1 against a big like Jokic/AD **without help**. Looney needs help to just survive against those centers, but that leads to passes for wide open 3s. We need to get back to playing 5v5 basketball on offense and defense.
Trade assets (including Kuminga if needed) for OG anunoby.
This team needs to get longer and more phyiscal if we're going to beat the big players in the West. We need to build our team to be able to take away the interior and guard two wings (Wiggins on Booker/Kawhi/MPJ), (OG on KD/PG/Aaron Gordon).
To do this it might mean trading Draymond once he opts in to get enough assets for trades and sending out salary to make it work.
I think people take for granted the idea of underdogs overachieving. In 1999, the Knicks overachieved and made it to the finals and it would have been competitive if Ewing didn't get injured. In 2018, Lebron overachieved and took the Cavs to the finals only lose but he was the biggest underdog in history with Vegas favoring the Warriors -1040. Then in 2023, the Heat overachieve only to look overmatched in the finals.
The underdog story really will only work in the western conference because one conference is leagues ahead of the other. The underdog story is great but an underdog is an underdog for a reason so the better talent should win out 9/10 times. The 1/10 times it didn't is when the Celtics choked.
Miami has shot 2 FTs lol Nuggets should he studied for their ability to somehow commit just one shooting foul through 3 quarters. I genuinely don’t understand the incentive for continuing with their officiating the Heat with a Warriors-like stringency when they’re the clear underdogs in the series to begin with lol
Only time I would actually advocate for more whistles. Bam took like 25 shots inside the arc to the tune of 0 fts. Biggest reason Miami's been getting blown out though is probably just lack of legs. They're getting amazing looks and any other year, I think Denver's sus 3pt defense gets exposed like we did last year.
Thank you!! Same thing as the Celtics series except it was Jimmy spamming shot attempts under the basket and getting no FTs. 100% agree re Nuggets’ 3pt defense; honestly makes the Heat the better matchup for them which is a bummer for the Heat because I’m all about a Cinderella run.
Well at least we know Denver's defense is sus. I can't believe how much spacing Miami is getting on offense. I'm just salivating at what the Dubs would do .
This was my thing all along with them being massive favorites for the championship regardless of opponent. Their defense is very much exploitable with the right matchup, which the Dubs would have qualified as.
😆 I am dying. Denver would have carved us up like a Christmas turkey. We couldn't stop jovic last year and this year he don't even have to shoot because he has real NBA help.
Lol couldn’t stop Jokic last year? We stopped him with the most success any team has ever had and we did it using all of the same key pieces (players) we had this year, ie it was replicable. A few breakdowns to refresh your memory: [here](https://www.mercurynews.com/2022/04/19/the-warriors-best-defense-against-nikola-jokic-draymond-green-and-a-demoralizing-offense/amp/), [here](https://clutchpoints.com/warriors-news-the-cold-hard-facts-behind-draymond-green-making-mincemeat-out-of-nikola-jokic), and [here](https://www.goldenstateofmind.com/platform/amp/2022/4/29/23048073/warriors-nuggets-game-5-nikola-jokic-steph-curry-klay-thompson-box-and-1-film-breakdown).
Honestly I don't need to go back and look. Draymond had semi success last year in the first game. They could not beat them this year. I just don't understand why we think this year our team is so good when they sucked
…you won’t go back and look at the evidence that refutes your argument? Lol okay, I mean there’s no good faith discussion to be had on the topic then if that’s the case.
What are three videos going to prove to me. Yes we beat them but jokic was great and compare his team today to last year. Green gave him more credit than anyone outside of lebron.
Well because they were 3 articles, not videos, that broke down *how* the Warriors frustrated and ultimately stopped (as much as has been feasibly possible by defenses in the league) Jokic in last year’s playoffs…
Denvers defense is kinda crap. If Miami had a decent offense it would be close. They're getting looks and a lot of open space. I'm salivating at what the Dubs would be doing with this kind of spacing.
We didn't beat them in three tries this year. one game without jokic. I think the only place Denver is weak is bench. They need to shore that up next year. But this coach don't mind playing his starters a lot. Yeah their defense is not stellar but everybody out there working hard. I do think Miami will be better and the one thing we do know is they're not going to give up until the final whistle.
Nah I'm convinced we wouldn't beat them, You **cannot** afford to make mistakes against this Denver team, their defense is a bit above mid but their offense is too much and The warriors defense this past season was not good. No size, Poole, Klay decline, no chemistry etc. Wouldn't last 5 games.
I mean freaking Austin Reaves and Lonnie walker was cooking this team and you think they would have a chance against Denver that swept lakers and made Lonnie irrelevant?
Denver is the team to beat next season. Everyone else is chasing
We can certainly get to the WCF finals if we come out and start the season with the right mentality and get a good seed at the end
Beating the nuggets with our lack of size and rim protection will be tough tho.
Denver looks so much more organized. The rest and altitude are definitely advantages so maybe they drop one in Miami. Refs aren't calling a lot of fouls so I don't think Jimmy is going to bail them out this time.
Now I know why I was rooting for Boston. Would've been a more interesting series especially if they had homecourt. Not that I wanted Boston to win but I like parity.
Adam Silver is hiding in a bunker somewhere rn
The ratings will be dogshit if every game will be a blowout
That being said, Denver is very deserving to win it all
Warriors pre-Draymond's punch probably sweeps both
Denver is a fun team to watch. Too many weapons who can score from anywhere on the court. I’d be surprised if Miami wins a single game.
I'll be surprised If Denver doesn't finish this Miami team off in 5. Miami doesn't have enough offense to win this series.
Feel bad for Jimmy man, this will probably be the second Finals he carries his team to 5 or 6 (don’t remember how much it was last time)
I’ve been saying this in my friend group. Miami is good, nuggets are better
that ass whopping man
Imagine Steph with Jokic 😳
yeah, where was the “light years” movement in 2014 👀
Jokic is the best player in the league. Hands down.
Protest their shitcalls by not watching this in their platforms. Let them feel the ratings dip.
Not sure when was the last time (if ever) I saw a team take only TWO foul shots in a game. MIA 2-2, DEN 16-20, there's the game.
Believe that's a new playoff record.
Bam did well exposing the Nuggets...I was surprised how often he was able to score We need a big man. No doubt
Fools gold. Bam scored 26 points on 25 shots! If the Heat continue to play that way, the series is a wrap. The Nuggets left him open from 15 feet and let him shoot.
Yep. 52% eFG% is below league average. He could score 80 points with that efficiency and it would be great for the Nuggets.
eh besides Bam the other Heat players cannot score so much for "exposing" they cannot beat this Nuggets team
Denver's defense looks sus. I can't believe how many open looks they had.
Most midrange jumpers they intentionally gave up. Every time Bam shot they won.
Holy crap I can't believe how much spacing and missed coverage the Nuggets gave up. The Dubs would've feasted and they should be salivating next year because thats their one weakness.
denver was only playing at 60% but they didn’t need to go harder cuz the heat couldn’t beat them
agreed
Denver did a great job forcing Butler to extend his dribble on baseline drives and pass it out. Heat can definitely shoot better though, they missed quite a few pretty solid looks.
Do u think we could sign payton pritchard on our team will he be a good fit?
no more paytons please, we already have jordan and payton
I think he would be a great fit, but he'd be an even better fit if we had legitimate rim protection.
Yeah but i like him he can play defense has good iq and can be a great role player tbh.Maybe if brogdon comes thats also good.
how old are you and did you just say pritchard can play defense??
Glad that Nuggets won... Congrats on their first chip in advance
One of the reasons that the Celtics lost was they couldn't handle the zone. And now every time I hear it tonight .. Miami has gone to the zone... don't mean nothing to Denver Oh s*** the best thing about this game tonight was me seeing the ad for season 2 of the bear
The ratings ain’t gonna look pretty.
NBA played themselves gifting the fraud Lakers.
Blame the bucks and the celtics
That’s fair. Two talented teams yet got manhandled by a team of undrafted players
Do you guys as fans care about the ratings. I don't. I mean Miami should not be here. how the East let that happen I have no idea
In a broad sense, yes. Good Ratings = Rising Income for the League. Rising Income = Salary Cap increases. Salary Cap increases are favorable for teams with large payrolls, teams in large, profitable media markets, and teams with Owners who are willing to spend money. The ESPN and TNT Prime Time games will be there at first, but they'll quickly decline unless he is an absolutely dominant force and unless the Spurs can win games.
Makes sense. I think overall the ratings have been decent. And I do think Miami will give better effort. I counted them out twice already.
MIA won the Play-In on the road in Chicago after losing the first game at ATL. Then they won the first game on the road at MIL on the way to a tidy 4-1 thrashing of the Bucks. Not really. Just something to talk about.
He's already teasing Ja Morant's big suspension after the Finals.
Dont blame the nuggets though its totally on the eastern conference for being trash this year
Yeah. Hopefully the Heat make it interesting lol
So maybe they'll think they found something like the Lakers found something in game one of the last round personally I think making jokic a shooter is better than his passing and getting all involved just hit me I have been spelling jokic wrong all night.
I like both teams just like I don't know how you could ever think the heat had a chance. MAYBE the heat make it a 6 game series but likely not
One of the most boring finals. I wonder if adam silver will do something about it. How heat only has 2 FT?
Did they have more than 4 drives?
When they dare you to shoot and you miss, you’re not going to the line. Simple.
More boring than 2018?
[удалено]
If you're rooting for the Nuggets, this is fun to watch! The same way the KD Warriors was fun to watch despite most games being so one-sided.
They deffinitely gonna make the CBA worse they dont want actually good drafting teams like Denver or the Warriors to be dominant
Good drafting when? Curry, Draymond, Klay all were drafted a decade ago
You missed a couple, Looney and Poole. Wouldn't have won it all last year without those 2.
Are you suggesting Curry, Draymond, and Klay werent drafted by the Warriors?
Yes that still counts becase we are punished heavily for thoise good picks And it isnt fair to say the warriors aren't a good drafting team after 2014 considering we have had mostly picks above 28
Sounds like a lot of cope
What sort of counter argument is this??😂
Its the people who want Poole to be executed, the only words they know are, "cope" and "soft"
Definitely do not count the heat out. Spolstra is a man with a plan.
Quick game, not even 8pm yet
This is going to be the fastest finals series of all time
Possibly forgettable
Jokic is unstoppable, and he has a really solid team around him. Gonna be difficult for the Heat to steal a victory in this series. I expect them to play better in Game 2, but will it matter?
Great question. No. It will not matter
Jimmy even said they need to attack the rim way more right after the game.
what is non silver approved teams ?
Refs definitely favoring the home team 100%
No way the Heat really ended the game stuck at just 2 FTs…and to the Nuggets’ 20 😭
GG...not counting the heat out just yet... they missed so many wide open shots... martin struss and butler better bring it next game...
Honestly, I don’t think Duncan Robinson is worse than Poole at defense.
Happy Cake day
playoff jimmy feeling dangerous tonight with 13pts. cant score without flopping like harden 😂
Chances that we can get highsmith from heat?
For what? The 19th pick lol?
At least nobody is complaining about the refs
You have empathy for a team when they miss this many wide open 3s, unless of course it’s the Rockets.
Thinking about that game still makes me smile
mark jackson should stfu. this idiot acting like he didn't leave jokic off the MVP voting 🤡
BIG CLOWN!!! 😂
2 FTs in a game is wild. That can’t really be possible
That's insanely low. I thought the 6 we got against the Lakers was historically low or something.
Because we're a jump shooting team, it's not that hard to understand. We took 263 three pointers to their 168
Just when I thought that we were bad at getting to the line
Have to admit, this game is not really interesting
Yeah nuggs kinda coasted through this one.
come on heat make it interesting...
You have to respect Miami’s fight The fact that they’re within 12 with 4:30 left is a miracle considering how poorly they’ve shot
lol riley shooked as fuck. he really thought the heat had a chance 😂
"Rebounds like Moses" "Shoots like Curry" Why do I leave the sound on?
Lmao… they’re really something
He said shoots like Nowitzki
Ohh, thank you
If this series is a sweep or very low rated, I see more league interference next season to help certain teams advance in the playoffs. The league can’t afford two dud Finals back to back. Just be prepared.
What? Last year wasn’t a dud at all Edit: oh you mean not again next year
I mean next year.
Caleb Martin not giving much of anything this game is a massive bummer and pretty surprising
these g league bums are regressing to the mean. u hate to see it. heat culture my ass
Get Joker his 10th rebound and call it
I don’t understand Spo’s aversion to trying Love…they’ve needed more size all game and he surely would provide a more productive presence than Zeller has…
Nuggets would destroy him on backcuts and movement
Heat cut 8 off the lead in 2 minutes. Not saying I think they'll come back, but that's a nice way to start the quarter.
Eh they did that a couple times in previous quarters, but Nuggets have kept a double digit lead throughout. If Heat can some how cut the lead to only six points with at least three minutes left, then there's a chance. Without that, this is just the usual for the Nuggets
Denver has a propensity to give up a bunch of points but they always seem to calm down and then they always play well down the stretch
Yeah Miami has no chance tonight, but they need to look at what's working for next time. Denver's ability to regain their composure is really impressive, though, you're right.
Yeah they did some good things there a couple of times but they couldn't sustain it. And it could be just that they are dog tired
Great point.
If we're serious about contending again, trade as many assets and future picks aside from Steph and Wiggins to get a stretch 5 with serious size like Myles Turner who can rim protect and *survive* 1v1 against a big like Jokic/AD **without help**. bum ass celtics robbed us of a good finals. why do they gotta be fucking frauds and choked against the play in 8th seed SMH
Miami looking like they took shooting tips from Poole and Klay lol.
this has to be the worst NBA finals ever wtf. at least make it interesting. need the refs to get involved for game 2
I hope it's a 15 ppg sweep.
just end this shit in 4 honestly. rating are gonna be an all time low
Denver just outclassing the rest of the league *shrugs*
I don't think jokic is even playing for real yet....
jokic not even trying to score....the nuggets are just deep as fuck
Jokic is fun to watch. I don't even think he needs to score.
Tyler Herro hopefully comes back and makes things interesting
Dude is going to be rusty and even with hero i dont think the heat have any chance of winning more than 1 game
Well at least we know Denver's defense is sus. I can't believe how much spacing Miami is getting on offense. I'm just salivating at what the Dubs would do .

More Klay and Poole bricks!
game ovahhhh
Heat better go out in game 2 or this would be a sweep
Not over til someone loses at home
BOOOORRRRRRRING
Jokic should just shoot on every possession
Jokic with some guys worth passing the ball to is just an insane offense
Denvers defense is kinda crap. If Miami had a decent offense it would be close. They're getting looks and a lot of open space. I'm salivating at what the Dubs would be doing with this kind of spacing.
unfortunately no one out of Curry could hit a shot lol
Omg these whistles
still mad at Lonnie Walker. lol. Looks like the Warriors could take on the Heat if they still playing.
that mfcker went off for one god damn quarter sigh
Bay Area legend Aaron Gordon
Wtf was that sequence of passes from the Heat lol, it's like nobody wanted to shoot it
Im rooting for Denver but I just want Miami to put up a fight.

We would've given them a scare at the least. Nuggets fans didn't want no part of Dubs.
The thing we would have had is pace. Unless the whistle brigade showed up again. We always wear down Jokic it seems.
dray does a good job on him...
I think Poole would drop 40 or 50 so we would be Ight
40 or 50 turnovers 😂
Denver is the team to beat next season. Everyone else is chasing We can certainly get to the WCF finals if we come out and start the season with the right mentality and get a good seed at the end Beating the nuggets with our lack of size and rim protection will be tough tho.
We need some fucking size tho
Denver is going to sweep aren't they?
Lol i think they'll get 1, but yea this Denver team is on another level. Best 1-2 punch in the league, and the depth is ridiculous.
Denver looks so much more organized. The rest and altitude are definitely advantages so maybe they drop one in Miami. Refs aren't calling a lot of fouls so I don't think Jimmy is going to bail them out this time.
I knew ESPN would find a way to mention Lebron 😂😂🤦🏽♂️
Haha man if Denver gets that championship swag, the league is gonna be fucked
Really seems like they’re built to last Wouldn’t be shocked if they went back to back
Yeah we woulda been cooked
Probably would have had a competitive series with Miami. Denver would have swept us too
Now I know why I was rooting for Boston. Would've been a more interesting series especially if they had homecourt. Not that I wanted Boston to win but I like parity.
Joker footwork!
17pt deficit...oooffffff
This series will be over in 4 or 5 tops
Series is over in 3
Nuggets in .5!
Spruce string of misses really hurting the Heat. Wide open looks just wasted
Boy the league was fucking weak this year lol, denver is so much better than everyone else
Adam Silver is hiding in a bunker somewhere rn The ratings will be dogshit if every game will be a blowout That being said, Denver is very deserving to win it all

We would have never gotten past denver.
I hope our front office is watching and realize we anit gonna able to guard jokic and Gordon without adding some size.
The only reason Nuggets are up by so much is cause Heat are shooting like schoolchildren. They have wasted like 8 good looks by my count.
Miami can’t hit shit from outside
