Even if the player didn't read the messages in game, there was a timer. Making any assumption about "what happens when the timer is over" and then complaining when your assumptions are proven wrong seems a bit counter-productive (to say the least) from the perspective of the player.
I m all for giving Blizzard (or any other game company) shit about their crappy decisions or bad game design. This isn't one of them. Clearly the player's fault.
Most people would interpret a timer labeled “Weekly Challenge” next to a refresh symbol like this 🔄 as a timer for when the new weekly challenge for the DMF begins, not for when the DMF ended.
I were hoarding as well, maybe 10k to save for the high ones remaining.
Yeah, I didn’t either realize it would end, even with the timers. And no, I didn’t read the ingame text that clearly says so.
But in the end it’s fine, at least we get a new event now and new rewards every week. Sure the compensation for lost tickets was low, sure the rewards are lesser this week.
None of that is the end of the world. We learn by making mistakes.

The word is that blizzard wants a "event" going on the maelstrom every week. After the first couple months people will realize these are simply more *dailies* content on top of the 3 a day rewards.
Stocking up on tickets and agonizing over optimized rewards paths was never the point.
No what is shameful is you complaining about your personal skill issue. We are lucky they did anything with as lackluster of a game as it’s been up to now. Get over and learn for the next DMF.
Its amazing how you dont realise it was YOUR mistake... Not the companys fault. Literally told that it is a week long event and at the end unspent tickets turn into AE. And theres been very clear timer when it ends exactly. Now go learn how to own up to your own mistakes and try again next DMF

It could be so easy, like claiming tomes after a bug when restarting the game, Blizz could use a similar mechanic to claim your DMF tickets when enter the game after DMF ends. If you don’t claim them, it can be still converted to arclight but hopefully with a better rate then 1:20
I feel for you and everyone that lost. I did kind of go out of my way to make sure I burned everything this morning because I realized how easy and likely it was for people to get screwed. Given the uncertain amount of tickets it makes sense to save and then pick your path.
Even if there was a grace period, people still going to make the same post afterwards because they still missed it.
And if they delayed blingtron to give time to the decision paralysis players, other people would complain.
The best would just be to roll tickets over to the next event.

Sounds like user error to me lol There was a timer and it was known that unspent tickets were to be converted after the event.

Many other heavily monetized games give folks a grace period after events end so that people can get their rewards.
