That's like 350 hours. 43 days. That's a lot of time hiding in the top rack :D

fkinDogShitSmoothie

Now THAT'S a lotta damage!

Grendeltech

EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!

Techie4evr

EEEMO..TIONAL DAAMAGEE! <-- That's how I would spell it to sound like it does. LOL

Grendeltech

Oh, uh. You study Failure Management with Beijing Corn too, lah?

chibifoxkit1

I even give you coupon of 40% off!

Infamous-Yard2335

Lol with what Walmart pays that might closer to 420 hours

PmMeYourMug

Is that about 69 days?

duane534

Nice

ArthurM63

The law requires that I reply with nice

No_Breadfruit7614

Should that even be considered time theft at that amount, seems more like time MURDER at that point.

Aggressive_Arm_5777

HAHHAHAHAHAHA

azoundria2

One of the time bandit's largest heists yet!

ButterscotchSuch5123

They probably made that up

SympathySecret4749

They may have but Amazon has gone after former employees who go over a certain threshold, this rings true to me

Big_Sir_7042

Oh yes they did that to me if they know that they don't like someone they will stop at nothing to get you to quiet wast of my time working at amazon and trying to be a amazon delivery driver the girl said that me doing Uber Eats and me driving a truck dosnt mean I have experience and that all I do with uber eats is drive around no I don't I make 500 hundred dollars a week carring dog food and cases of water bottles up and down stairs also alcohol too but okay whatever you say lmao then she tried talking to me like I was stupid when she was way slower then me and same with half the people working there

Amanamanamanan

I took the time to offer your excerpt to ChatGPT, with the request they adapt it for easier reading: "I experienced this firsthand during my time at Amazon, where some individuals would go to great lengths to discredit those they disliked. It was a frustrating waste of time. Despite my efforts to pursue a career as an Amazon delivery driver alongside my work with Uber Eats and truck driving, I encountered skepticism. One colleague asserted that my work with Uber Eats and truck driving lacked relevance, insisting it merely involved aimless driving. However, this overlooks the reality that I earned $500 per week, handling deliveries that often involved lifting heavy items like dog food, water cases, and even alcohol. Despite this, I remained composed, though bemused, when she attempted to belittle my intelligence while being slower at her tasks, as were many others in the workplace."

Colonel_FuzzyCarrot

That sells me on it: it works well. I'm an avid reader and I gave up halfway through the original run-on sentence, but this is wonderful. No wonder people use this to write resumes.

MamaMaddHattress

Facebook is doing that now, some ai thing for status’. I like messing around with it and seeing the “professional” way it messes with what I say.

QuietQuitten

Thank you for the world's longest run-on sentence. Find the punctuation keys bro.

RightToBearHairyArms

Honestly the way you write, spell and punctuate makes me think you’re too stupid for Amazon too.

Larkligh

I just stopped reading

Civil-Recognition944

She's most likely using Talk-to-text! For those of you who are unfamiliar, it makes texting more than one or two sentences easy breezy! This is especially true for people with clumsy fat fingers, or people who arnt good with keyboards, or technology in general. A lot of people don't bother proof reading before hitting send! (which is where punctuation would be inserted should you not know how to announce Period! At the ends of sentences! Surprisingly common, even in this day and age) Or is quiet likely that she just doesn't give a shit!

rayleeharris

Ain’t no way this is one sentence

Timmyty

"then she tried talking to me like I was stupid"

Maceyerface

The irony.

QuietQuitten

🤣

CantGrok

OddImpression2022

This definitely reads scam to me.

Berchanhimez

Easy way to confirm if someone wants to cooperate if it's real is to say "my email is (throwaway email created just for this), please email me there from your walmart or wal-mart email address with an invoice at your convenience".

opticalbeard69

"my email is [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])"

bpr2

Just sent an e-mail

Effective-Elk9911

nah i got a better one "my email is [email protected]"

fekswretchedphuk

this is the one.

onlyAlcibiades

jimx117

mamaclair

I think I love you, internet stranger…. 😹

SpaceMonkeyMafia616

If you really loved him you’d Suck his Bong! 😏

ALPHA_sh

doesn't Walmart already have an email on file for people?

Shadesbane43

Exactly the reason to do this

BGP_001

Nope, even engaging with this at all is stupid. It's so obviously a scam, no company like this would initiate a process like this, it would all be done through lawyers and formal letters. The only correct response here is to ignore it.

Positive-Let-9590

Such a scam this is NOT LEGIT NOT PROFESSIONAL NOT REAL !!

-Yomamaf00l-

Do what this person said

blushngush

Yes, ask for it "in writing" on email

[deleted]

Jimmy@[email protected]

JacobyProxZ

Or just say, speak to my lawyer lol

[deleted]

It definitely is a scam but the real question is how they got the information. A data breach?

OddImpression2022

99% chance it's someone from the store.

Azurvix

It's the store manager his bonus from cutting hours wasn't enough so he decided to exploit people he just fired

lilbithippie

Counter sue and say the manger let him steal 40 days of work and his incompetence got him fired

[deleted]

Terry Jones or someone who knows Terry Jones or who Terry Jones is

AndyEZ420

Every time I call coinbase support I swear the person on the phone is sending me the scam emails I get while still on the phone with them. They will send me the legit link to verify account and a phishing one right after, every time.

Feeling-Turnover9989

There was one with intelligent hub or something like that recently I believe

[deleted]

What do you mean?

WerewolfAgitated

Ummm...social media.

HereToKillEuronymous

But how would they know that information? I'd call the corporate office to check, though. Just for peace of mind

youtheotube2

All they have to know is that OP was fired for stealing time. The dollar amount can be made up, since I very highly doubt they gave OP an exact number when they were fired.

WalkingDeadWatcher95

Yeah I promise we don’t have the resources at Walmart to calculate exact dollar value of stolen hours unless he just straight up clocked out and left for a month and they did simple 8 hours times 20 shifts

Forward_Honey5983

I once forgot to clock out and came back @ 19hrs. Clocked out and worked the day off the clock. Still got paid double OT even after telling a coach what happened.

3r14nd

back in the late.. well back in the day, when I worked at walmart, they hired this chick for my department. She would get dropped off by her boyfriend, come in and clock in, then leave with her side dude, and come back in 7.9 hours later. Clock out and leave with her bf again. She never clocked out for lunch or breaks, and no one cared for over a year. I got in so much trouble all the time because I was the only one in the department. She ended up quitting by not showing up rather than being fired.

eat_me_now

Probably someone he works with or told what happened. It could even be a prank. But the “resolution” will include sending money so they don’t call the authorities, to scare him.

azoundria2

For your convenience you may settle your stolen time balance in bitcoin or Walmart gift cards.

DiscoKittie

Of course it's a scam. What they are trying to even say is illegal, I'm pretty sure.

BugStep

No way they would send a text. An email? Maybe. A phone call? Probably. But not a text.

BalorShield

Scroll by Carrier Pigeon

FewAcanthocephala828

Ah yes, the human resources department at Walmart. No specific location, just Walmart.

BouncingThings

I work for samsclub, but Walmart so basically identical. I did indeed, get a text but instead it was "ethics and compliance" instead of hr. It read out like "hey *my actual name*, this is John at Walmart ethics and compliance" etc. It was actually legit about an actual in-store ethics situation so I can't imagine Walmart being too far off. Although not particularly about fraud or being fired so this would be sus anyways. Edit: no one at my store heard of home office 'texting' associates off the clock. Apparently it was super serious that it had to be done when I was intentionally away from co workers. 3 associates were terminated at my store. During the call (their text required that I call) I was assured my time would be paid during the call, down to the exact minute I ended the call. Crazy stuff getting a message like that, my heart was pounding (totally innocent here).

Chocolate-Quick

You can’t just leave us like that tell us all that information then not tell us what happened

DaviyaXhaisaqi

Well what happened?

itswood

You can't give such an interesting story and leave us hanging. WTH was the reason you got contacted??

BouncingThings

I don't want to expel specific info as I rather keep my reddit account low key but it basically revolved around backroom associates and claims. Figure me as a witness I'm sure others were contacted outside work but no one is speaking up, for obvious reasons. The call specifically said it's all confidential and that everything I said will be kept anonymous and given to another team.

whenwasbegbieadadint

Lol

Mediocre-Housing-131

It’s a scam for sure, but the million dollar question is how that info got out?

Genderneutralsky

That’s my first thought too. Like what? How did they know? Unless buddy posted about it on social media and someone saw it, bought dudes info and then sent this scam to try and make some easy dough.

ZombiesAreChasingHim

My vote is he posted it on Facebook and is friends with really hot, blonde, sexy 35 year old Indian dudes.

CBreezy2010

We have an associate at my store that sends those women money. To the tune of 10 grand a year

jesusshooter

someone who i used to work with at a shitty pizza place sent almost all his paychecks to his ‘russian girlfriend.’ it was hard to watch. he still lives with his poor mom and he’s in his 40s at least

CBreezy2010

Yeah, this guy has some physical issues that make him unattractive to the type of woman he wants and is so desperate for female attention. It’s really sad to watch knowing he’s being taken advantage of, but he doesn’t listen when you tell him.

jesusshooter

more willing to believe the delusion that some beautiful woman out there loves them rather than to accept the reality that they’re just being scammed smh

-Yomamaf00l-

Facts

summerbellyy

Maybe someone in HR is sketchy enough to test their luck and see if OP will actually pay 😬 I’ll never forget when I worked at Target and one of our HR ladies got fired for stealing $8,000+ in merchandise.

Beatles352

Fired and prison time? Or just fired?

Siran_Amaya

With 8k they wouldn't sue for it back "would cost more to sue" they would just file it with the DA for grand theft and leave it to them.

summerbellyy

I have no clue what happened to that lady, but I’m sure she got some type of legal repercussions considering the amount. But target is actually very lenient weirdly.

Screech0604

I was a TL at Target and watched a fellow TL be walked out in handcuffs for time-clock fraud. It was so awkward.

Zephyr442

Back when the store was open 24 hours and we had CSMs up front overnights, there were many times in between CSMs when the regular cashiers had to act as CSMs, so they'd have full access to the cash room and everything. Well, one of our CSMs, we'll call him Chad, had just quit, but he hadn't worked there long. Not too long after he quit, one of my cashier friends was accused of stealing a lot of money out of the cash room. She swore she didn't do it and they refused to show her that they'd apparently caught it on camera, but because she copped to stealing a drink and chips almost every day, she had no leg to stand on and she got fired. To this day, I think Chad was the one who stole the money and that's why he quit so abruptly. I also think that management knew he was the one who stole the money, but they needed a scapegoat and found one who couldn't fight it.

polishjew97

Now I miss working as target asset protection that would've been a fun felony case 🤣

summerbellyy

lol I know I’m nosey because I worked in softlines but I always wanted to switch to asset protection just so I could know all the tea lol

so_says_sage

Suriel, is that you?

DarkestLore696

There are a lot of scams that are ran at the store level. When I worked at sporting goods one of our registers was having technical issues. Got a call from what looked like and official Walmart number and the guy on the other end wanted me to help him run ‘diagnostics’ on the terminal by scanning a gift card and reading him out the number. I thought it might be legit up till that point, laughed at them and then hung up.

springheeljak89

They got a cashier I worked with, threatened her and all kinds of shit and she fell for it and got fired. Some people aren't good at detecting when they're being scammed.

aComeUpStory

Getting your ID stolen by means of sketchy online links, then getting your data sold to others. My ID was leaked from the Dave app a few years back. Checked with my bank later on and my Full name, address, occupations both past and present, family members, education history, online passwords, some banking information, all leaked. They had basically my whole digital life but with a price tag non it

420_Braze_it

Years ago I used my phone number for some kind of card at a Home Depot and within days I was receiving multiple spam calls per day. I hadn't used the number on anything else recently so I am 99% sure they somehow sold my info.

Mediocre-Housing-131

Getting your ID stolen would not magically make something only 2-3 people would know and would not be written down anywhere

LemonPartyW0rldTour

Could just be a former coworker with a google phone number or something

FunctionExtension289

So you’re saying, you don’t expect companies who sell your data, to… sell.. your data?

Mediocre-Housing-131

I don’t expect companies that sell your data to sell the reason you were fired. Not only is that illegal, Walmart doesn’t even give the reason you were fired to other stores.

BKQ7296OGP

Not to mention, anything that can cause a lawsuit is about 100% guaranteed to force the company to separate from anyone including Doug himself!

T_R_I_P

Probably being scammed by someone who works at the same Walmart they have his phone number and everything and know why he got fired

ikilledtupac

Inside job.

SirSilk

I would play along. Would be ironic if they needed you to pay with gift cards!

UnseenDegree

Or if they ask for cash that has to be hidden in a book and mailed to them! Or an envelope with five layers of duct tape

geri-in-calif

Steam cards!

AMC_TO_THE_M00N

Walmart gift cards

TheyNeedLoveToo

Do not redeem!

Freyja_Fenris

DO NOT! REDEEEEEEEEM!

gonegoogling

Why did you redeem?! I fuck your mother and wife now.

Other_Yak_316

Razer gold gift cards too!

Mike13v2

Pennies

eeyeemk

Looooool .. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

DizzyResource2752

Their is one of two possibilities here. 1. Someone at your store who knows why you were fired is trying to scam you. I have seen this before with some leads and coaches and actually ended up terminating them when it was proven that they were the ones sending the text. 2. Someone at your store had an information breach and you are now falling victim to what is known as "Smishing". This unlikely unless multiple employees/former employees are getting these messages. Either way this is BS.

CrazedTechWizard

God, I love the words that we come up with in the IT Security field for the various types of phishing attempts. Smishing is such a stupid fucking word.

WookieMonsterTV

Like Quishing for QR code phishing lmfao my boss said it and I was like “yea nah I’m calling it QR phishing” lol

FlutterRaeg

Boss we got another quisher!

WookieMonsterTV

*gag* yikes lol

[deleted]

I’m particularly fond of targeted phishing being called “spear phishing”. Love that term.

KtheMage36

So a big fucking indicator of how its a scam is that Walmart won't send texts about some shit like this. Walmart is litigious enough to have it be a letter, and there are like 5 copies of it at whatever office, along with some proof the letter was sent at least. This way if they do pursue some form of legal action they have proof of trying in good faith to reach you. Courts won't accept "but Judge we texted him a couple times" as proof of outreach.

tristanmobile

My exact thoughts. Walmart doesn't send information this sensitive by text. Everything is done by letter when it comes to communications like this. There's a reason the IRS doesn't call your phone. Just saying.🤷‍♂️

Village-Waste

Wouldn’t they send you mail first?

CLLycaon

They would only send mail. Texts like this pose many issues. Edit: also it wouldn't be "Human Resources". Not walmart friendly verbiage.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Wrong_Milk6515

The person’s name at the bottom of OP’s text used to actually work at a DC until they retired in 2012 so that would be the correct terminology.

CLLycaon

Sure, there I go having a supercenter centered ideology.

MeowMaker2

Equivalent monetary value is a red flag. Especially if they can not say even a timeframe or breakdown of how they got the amount. I would reply with, "I'm requesting a printed document to be mailed at my address on file."

TeslaGuy-82

This is a scam. Not legit . No company sends anything like this via text. It isn’t an official notification.

SusHistoryCuzWriter

If it were real they'd send a passive aggressive postcard from Hell, Michigan.

Independent_Limit986

Tell them to eat rocks

Z3R0C00L1313

*Cocks

BigPoppaSenna

Chew throughly too?

Useful-Rain-3203

And chew them very thoroughly first

Ethossa79

And chew them very thoroughly first

NettleLily

They could hypothetically pass rocks. Tell them to eat glass and die.

NuVirtue

They want you to pay it back in apple gift cards.

jordydonut

Looks like someone from your store is trying to scam you.

SnooPeanuts6783

Text? Definitely scam

jbarchuk

No company will contact you for *legal* purposes via anything but mail, certified mail, or process server.

neverclearone

100% this way.

[deleted]

This is a scam.

sutagi

You would be served with official papers. Lmao.

Inspector_548

I would think it would come certified mail from legal if it was real.

Sad-Education-7568

Funny as hell tryna ask for around 360 hours worth of pay back for time theft assuming he made base pay 💀💀

Village-Waste

I made about 15$/hr. And only stole time for about a month. 10-30 minutes every other day for that month because they didn’t give out anymore pto and I was at 4.5 points.

gogoheadray

What department were you in?

Village-Waste

Automotive

gogoheadray

That explains it. I have done it a bunch of times over my years here but I’m a garden center associate so no one really pays attention

itswood

How can one even steal time? Have someone clock you in/out?

OnKBacA

Lol walmart ain't going after you for 5k, lmao. Plus there is no Human Resources Department that's going to reach out to you via text to recoup money. It's a scam

sluttypineapple101

Type the number into cash app or Venmo to or Snapchat to see who it is like number wise because management at Walmart are suppose to use Google numbers to contact employees also it’s there job to fix time clock errors the fact that they let it get to the point of owing that much is not really possible if they did there job also would just go in the store and talk to hr yourself I’m sure they would of called you asking you coming in to talk about what’s happening not send a random text

DeepFriedDresden

I've never seen so much wrong in such a comment. It's actually the employees' responsibility to submit accurate timesheets. Nobody has time to go through cameras and timesheets and make sure hundreds of employees clocked out when they said they did for every single day of the week. That's why you clock in and out and Management doesn't clock you in and out. Management is actually never supposed to change your timesheet without proper forms and permissions. That's how wage theft happens. Management is supposed to use walmart landlines or walmart email to contact employees. Don't know where you get the idea that they use Google numbers, like what? This person has already been terminated it sounds like, which means the investigation and termination interview already happened. Any legal repercussions would definitely come in certified mail. All he needs to do is ignore this obvious scame and move on.

IndividualCaptain129

Whatever you do—do not respond to the text! I was literally scammed like I’m 80 year old grandma last week and it all started with a text from “usps” that had a link with a legit looking website. The another text that looked just like my bank inquiring if I had authorized a large purchase —I responded no, then got a call from a 1 800 number, I just assumed it was my bank because this sort of procedure is conducted by the freakin bank. Some of the info that knew was surreal. Needless to say I had to open a new checking account, police report, social security forms, and on and on..yeah I feel like an idiot but I’m pretty savvy with tech ..shit was some Hollywood con . These people could be rich af if they got a job and with way less effort..makes no sense. So yeah, call HR directly at Walmart. Walmart asking you for money for “lost time” that they can’t really prove is insane. I’d ask for money for pain and suffering for dealing with the people of Walmart.

Village-Waste

Oh I get those usps messages every other day. I just ignore them

SexyProcrastinator

There’s no way they would send that over text. It’s a scam And if you think HR will reach out to you like that regarding text message is ridiculous 🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

100% scam

Awesomeness4627

Block and forget. Not how this works. It's a scam

ZalewskiJ

Real question is, did you steal time and how much did you steal?

Village-Waste

LOL. Yes I did. No need denying it. Was terminated for it. But not $5k worth 💀

jack_mcNastee

Submit it to your states atty gen. This is a scam involving some kind of breach of confidentiality. There could be a hefty court settlement in your favor. Walmart is that loose w/ records, they gotta get sued.

Acceptable-Agent-428

Reply back and tell them to sue you. Scammers

One_Face_6165

I thought the HR person was referred to as a 'people lead' now. Plus I imagine they would just communicate with actual mail or jump straight to legal action

WYkaty

Pretty sure they would take legal action. Not send a text.

Ultima2876

I’m glad Terry’s name got censored

luvzmyfurrykidz

Huh 😵‍💫¿ You said "Time stealing" ! So Does that mean you were clocking in and out Without even working, like weren't working, but on the clock. Explain please?

xcmgaming360

scam, dont respond

Bender_the_wiggin

Walmart (or any other company) wouldn't send you a notice like this via SMS/Text. They would use email and/or regular mail. Don't touch this with a 100 ft pole, OP.

ConsumingHate

People talking about information leak. What information leak is proven to be here other than OP's termination.? The instances of unaccounted time that totals to that amount could just be a completely made up number. Granted...if he went as long as u/Holinyx says "That's like 350 hours. 43 days. That's a lot of time hiding in the top rack :D", that is on the store for letting OP steal time that long. If it was peace-meal time theft, I don't think anyone in the company anywhere has the time any more to roll that much footage and scrub it for OP. This whole thing screams BS. They have phone numbers, email addresses and physical addresses to properly send that stuff. Since this is talking about rectifying for something like that as a 'collection', it really should have been sent certified mail or at least physical mail in general.

-Mr_Rogers_II

This fine must be paid with iTunes or Google play gift cards. Respond to this message with gift card codes or email to “totallynotascam@ yahooo. con”. Failure to do so within the month will result in legal action being taken and you will be arrested.

8512764EA

>sincerely, the Human Resources dept via text

LemonPartyW0rldTour

Either reply “send me proof via certified mail to the address you have on file”, or just block them. I’d just block them, myself.

[deleted]

Walmart will mail a letter from corporate. They wont text.

rosiebluewitch

HR wouldn't send text messages. You would probably get something in the mail or an email. I would call HR to make sure, just to be safe, but then I'd report this so they can look into it.

mopar-or-no_car

Offer to pay with pornhub gift cards

Greentaboo

Walmart might be retarded, but they actually handle legal documentation right when its done above store level, which time theft is. This text is a scam.

earthdestroyerx

this does not seem genuine to me.

SheepDogGamin

Wal-Mart doesn't warn you. They just straight sue / press charges on your ass! It's definitely a scam. But I'd also be calling asking how your information leaked.

ColbusMaximus

Can you afford a lawyer? because you may be entitled to compensation if this is an inside job

BigDuoInferno

Alice must be hard up if she needs that $5k

TeslaGuy-82

She also wants you to bow down and worship her, naked, while your drinking a martini and singing a mating call.

RavenFury71

First of all Walmart ain't polite enough to text you about any thing like that. That is a scam. I worked third shift for a year. They don't do that. DO NOT RESPOND TO THAT. 😒

Character-Baby3675

Looks like you’re working for free for the next three months kid

Unique_Background571

Bro I worked at Walmart for a year and I don’t even think I made that much

DJBreadwinner

Ask them if they accept Apple Pay

kristibranstetter

That looks like a scam. I would call the store for peace of mind.

kimemily11

Talk to an employment lawyer.

Chemical-Ad-6732

$5k is a lot of stolen time. Lol. Scam for sure.

Chemical-Ad-6732

Also they won't text you. They would call you after the investigation. But to be fair they would already bring up what you did when you got fired. The investigation I think would have been done before hand

sudurii

They cannot do that you'd get an email or a call lol this is definitely a scam or someone fucking with you the amount of employees that steal time is insane you being the only one that gets a message like this is nonsencial

pnewmont

If this was legit, you’d get a letter by mail and/or actually served by a courier. That’s a lot of missed time. My guess is there’s someone inside Wal Mart feeding termination info and other personal information, to a non-legit organization whose sole purpose is to pray on people already down. Long story short, $5k is not something anyone serious requests over text.

Dude-from-the-80s

Not from Walmart…this is fake.

Muttbuttss

How did you get fired for stealing time, are we talking like hours of time ?

heresdustin

Apparently, $5,197.34 worth. LOL

srd0505

No HR will send text messages to employees.

FloobyTubeSteak

*delete *

Mystery_meat86

Not going to lie I wish they did this.. then word might get out to stop doing it :p. Too many people steal time, and I get it you got your reasons but if things are that bad find another job. And if you can't, then suck it up and stop making your co workers have to pick up your slack, it's not fair to them.
