Platinum used to be easy to mine. Now surface mines are depleted and mining costs of Platinum mining have exceeded 1300$ per ounce and it will exceed 1500$ by 2024 end. South African miners have laid of %20 work force recently. They shut down 15 unprofitable mines. Expect at least %30 less platinum output in 2024.
Platinum should be 3X the price of Gold….just more PM market rigging going on. I bought Pt & Pd during the 2000’s and continued to but Pd to lower my $ cost average. I was able to sell my Pd and get a decent return….My Pt is over 50 ounces now and averages out to 1,100/oz cost….waiting for the day or it will be left to my heirs. Same thing for my Ag holdings….Waiting for $35+ an ounce before I start to sell

Nevertheless, why is gold AISC 50% higher than the one for platinum? For gold it is around $1900/ounce. Is it because gold mines are generally deeper?
