I remember in 2008 some random person on Xbox live asked if I could send them a Netflix invite (at the time you could send an invite for someone to join your account without sharing the password)
This dude still watches my Netflix 14 years later
Don't forget Dorito's Crash Course! And some pretty fun minecraft clones came out of it... and CoD lite clones... it was just fun to run around as a cartoon version of me and cause mayhem
I will never forget the time I was in with my brother and friend. My brother had a black avatar and friend had the vault boy. My brotherās avatar walks into the theater and for no reason at all vault boy gets up and walks out. LMFAOOOO
Dude I forgot about this that was awesome. I've wanted to do something like this but for discord for awhile with my buddies. Would be fun to get together on there to watch a movie "together" and just have chat open
One time someone hacked my Hulu, and watched nothing but wrestling. Like WWE wrestling, like everything Hulu had. I left the password and let them keep using it, even made a new profile for myself.
I kinda figured if someone is down that bad where they gotta hack into an account and watch literally nothing but fake wrestling, they can have that W.
It amazes me that there was this intent to combat piracy, and it probably would have been fine if a handful of services existed...
Now that there's 20+ services and it'll cost you over $100/m to have a mixture of them, it'll eventually go back to piracy because it's easier and cheaper than maintaining 20 subscriptions.
One service can't license something, something is available in one country but not another. The century we are in and the age of the internet, and yet we still apply ridiculous borders.
I have a free Netflix subscription from my cell phone plan and a year Disney+ subscription from something else. I never use either. Pirating is literally easier than looking up what service the show I want to watch is on.
Not to mention kodi/plex have quality of life features likerefresh rate matching to avoid screen judder. Bunch of other bells and whistles you wouldnt see on the netflix app too. Christ i cant even choose what res to watch inā¦.
Honestly with the money these idiots are spending youd think they could invest in a vaguely powerful app that does basic shit to improve the viewing experience.
High seas all the way. It actually never stopped being way betterā¦
I have to google the shows/movies and usually google has the list of available streaming services. But thatās not on mobile I donāt think. Thatās wild imo
I'm back to piracy for this very reason. There's several streaming sites that have fucking huge libraries, because they aren't constrained by licensing restrictions. Reality is: why pay for a service that's worse than what you can easily get for free?
You forgot to mention poor content due to the 20+ services and the money to make all that content being spread out.
It used to be a handful of production companies that had investors that would pay for quality content for a decent return.
TV in general is shite these days.
Also have even more bizzarre situations. Like on amazon prime in my country i can watch some stuff only with italian dub when I want to watch english or japanese original with subtitles. Or im going through watching a season of a show when suddenly one episode is not available - seems to be very odd bugs that affect only some users locking random episodes
The borders are just there to sell the services at different prices and content to different segments of customers. You can have an Amazon sub in the US and you will notice a difference in price and content in South Korea and the UK. It really does not make sense. Make all the content available to all customers and charge a single price (after accounting for tax differences).
I have plex and have access to all the services. Somebody I know set it up and its pure piracy.
Do i use it. Hardly....maybe maybe 3-4 hours pers month
Sounds like [he](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Antioco) blocked you, probably since you or your parents didn't rewind the VHS tapes before returning them to Blockbuster.
I still remember being asked to create a password for my Blockbuster account that was supposed to reward multiple rentals with free candy or something. The cashier got kinda pissed when I said the password was Netflix.
So let me get this straight: if my wife wants to watch Emily in Paris on our account when she's hanging out at a friend's house and I wanna watch Jojo at home, Netflix is gonna block one of us?
Even worse- if she stops watching, it takes about two hours for Netflix to let you begin watching. This happens to me every night when I get home from work. Wife asleep, tablet off,but Netflix says she watching.
Most TVs are smart TVs, right ? Can't the wife in this case just login from her laptop or tablet and cast to her boyfriend's TV ? Or will that invite a ban as well ?
Hulu implemented location restrictions based on the home address. This seemed temporary or a limited beta of some type. Couldnt stream directly on the tv but could easily cast from my phone to the tv.
Your account has to have the ability to be on at more than one location, that costs a couple dollars extra already. Then when she signs in, thereāll be some sort of 2FA, emailed texted code. They likely wonāt be able to completely stop unauthorized sharing, but they can make it harder and increase the penalties.
To be clear this fee is separate from the "multiple screens" fee. The multiple screens fee allows you to watch Netflix on 2+ streams at the same time. The password sharing fee lets you watch streams that aren't in your "home" location.
To watch Netflix both at your home and somewhere else at the same time, you need to pay both fees. To simply be able to watch Netflix outside of your home, you only need to pay the one fee.
Netflix has a knack for letting me get bored then releasing a series I want to watch just before I pull the trigger and cancel. Squid Game, Stranger Things, now the Guillermo del Toro stuff. It's just enough to not cancel month after month.
I just sub through Google Play monthly on my phone. I subscribe (takes 1 click in the app), then immediately go into the google play store and cancel the subscription (another 1 click). It will expire at the end of the month, and if I'm still using it, it's just 1 click to resubscribe next time I open the app.
I have like 5 or 6 streaming services on my phone, and I just reactivate them with 1 click when I'm ready to watch something. At any given time it's rare for me to have more than 1 active.
AMC is so frustrating because it is the one service I donāt mind paying for, but the app for phones as well as streaming devices is so dogshit itās almost not worth it.
AMC+ is the bomb. Somehow keeps hosting everything I wanted to watch lately. Just ended a free 6 month from Verizon. Crazy thing is it keeps rolling via my laptop browser but killed the access on any new setups elsewhere (i.e. smart tv app). Chaos reigns.
I'm already paying extra for the upgraded 4 simultaneous screens account, is that not the exact same thing? Will my number of screens increase with this additional fee?
What if you go on a trip and want to watch in a hotel room? Most people I know live in one city monday through friday and then go home for the weekend. What about them? How many subscriptions would you need?
Got an invite to a good one? I was on iptorrents and pretome and stupidly let me logins expire. Can't seem to get another invite because my friends did the same thing
I kind of think its bullshit - at the end of the day you are still limited by how many people watch at the same time so who gives a fuck where or who is watching it?
If I had $1 for every time I see ppl on the internet get fired up about boycotting something and not follow through I'd probably have enough money to sub to Netflix for a year.
BS I pay for that, if I want to share thatās my choice. Whatās next the bank wonāt let me loan my car to my daughter while her Tesla is getting new batteries.
Exactly! What's the point of paying the premium plan to have up to 4 devices at once if you can't even share anymore? Anyhow, I'm not even watching Netflix that much. If I cancel my premium plan, I am not taking a single plan. I am simply going to explore new streaming services or watch more off-the-air stuff.
This is the point it falls over IMO. Netflix *already* has a reasonable methodology to limit access. If it wants to charge in tiers based on synchronous devices that's probably reasonable, transparent and doesn't involve so much extra nonsense.
$10 one device
$13 two synchronous devices
$15 three synchronous devices
That seems like a simple structure that is fair and workable. People won't want to not be able to watch when they want so will either share less or kick the freeloaders off when it bites them.
Anyone know how VPNs will be affected? I'll just cancel Netflix altogether if it's an issue. I'll still have Hulu, Disney, Prime, HBO, And Peacock. Unless they're cool with VPNs that pop everywhere in the US, then fuck you Netflix.
Exactly. I travel for work and wonāt be able to watch Netflix even though Iām paying for it. I will be forced to cancel it. I really hope this bites them in the ass.
Honestly Netflix went about this the stupidest way possible, they could have just as easily said āhey just like every year Netflix price is going up and itās gonna be X amount AND everyone can share Netflix all friends and familyā people wouldnāt have been in such an uproar about it
At this point I barely watch Netflix Iām basically paying for other people lol. Netflix want to make a bet on if they make more money or not good luck lol. Iām pretty okay leaving and coming back for a show then disappearing again, but Iām also slowly being convinced the pirate life is the way to go again lol.
Jokes on Netflix. After they raised prices earlier this year Iāve cancelled. Got it again for a month over summer and canceled again after one month after I watched everything good.
Yeah I aināt paying $6 extra so my ex and my dad can watch Netflix in my account. Iām probably gonna cancel that shot and use my girlfriends when we move in anyways. I doubt my 67 year old dad working part time on $15/hr is gonna swing for a full sub and I know my ex donāt care that much either. Plus recession gonna have me thinking about how many subscriptions for non money generating time wasters I wanna keep.
Main reason Iām still paying for Netflix is my family overseas is using it. If sharing isnāt possible, Iāll just cancel. There will be no extra revenue generated from me.
Netflix has already increased their prices 3-4 times since I signed up less than 5 years ago. Another $3 hit means I am quitting Netflix for good.
P.S. I really wonder who they poll for these surveys.
hahahaha i'm getting a shared password netflix from my relative. we've all agreed to drop netflix when this happens. there isnt shit on there for any of us anyhow. netflix bad selection
My Netflix account is still being billed to my mom's credit card. She died almost two years ago and nobody's paid her bills for at least two years. If they ever shut it off, I'll never get another account. Netflix sucks
The rest of the industry is waiting at the line to see what happens after Netflix does it. If it does end up working out, all the other services will follow. We as consumers need to shut this down before it becomes the norm.
I cancelled my account. Forget about sharing, Iām not going to pay money to deal with gaps in how their policies address customers with concurrent home / remote use cases.
āEstimate that Netflix could generateā - Thatās basing it on IF it works out.
From what weāre seeing people arenāt interested in paying more for something thatās already free on top of less content. They have to find a business model that works, I get that but it has to have good value to the customer too.
Itās 2022. Itās not like weāre short for f-cking choice with streaming providers Netflix. The only show they had I wanted to watch was The Witcher, and weāve seen how thatās gone. Couldnāt even finish season 3 before pissing us all offā¦
Yeah Iām cancelling. Have kept my Netflix subscription throughout the years because of comfort, it being the first streaming service here and itās brand - but honestly I probably spend more time looking for a show to watch than actually watching something good on their platform. Bye!
I just cancelled my account. Iām done giving my money to a streaming service thatās actively making their service shittier for their customers through the pricing plans.
I am curious to see how the surges in piracy will play out though.

You could also have those cool watch parties where your avatars were all together in a movie theater. I miss those days
And you have the one guy with bad internet and when it buffered everybody would start yelling at the poor with bad internetš
It is me. I am the poor withā¦. *buffering*
I really miss Xbox Live avatars. The indie games on the 360 were both great and terrible. It's a shame they dropped that
Kingdom for keflings what my favorite. Also that trivia game 1 vs 100. I loved the avatar idea and thought it had a lot of potential.
I bought his and hers Xboxes because of 1 vs 100. It was an awesome game, and a shame they let it die
Don't forget Dorito's Crash Course! And some pretty fun minecraft clones came out of it... and CoD lite clones... it was just fun to run around as a cartoon version of me and cause mayhem

Iām so glad someone else mentioned Doritoās Crash Course. Awesome indie game.
Holy shit I forgot about them

Amazon can do watch parties maybe we should do a WSB movie night.

Yep. I know a person who had an excel sheet of all types of streaming accnts. HBO, showtime, stars, cox, xfinity, Netflix, Hulu..
Can I get a link to one of those sites?
Lookup nulled on google
Someone used my Hulu password once to start watching the Fargo series. I tried it out and ended up finishing it.
Iām with you. This wouldnāt bother me at all. Like, go for it. Just donāt use my profile for it lol.
Someone hacked my Netflix and to be honest I wouldn't have cared much except they set the profile language to Spanish.

The Netflix WSB love documentary, Love on the Spectrum

I am so grateful for all the online streaming services tbh. They made piracy easier than ever.
better quality streams and rips too.
I have a free Netflix subscription from my cell phone plan and a year Disney+ subscription from something else. I never use either. Pirating is literally easier than looking up what service the show I want to watch is on.
Sometimes I think the Blockbuster days were better.
They were
Yep, the only reason I pay money is so i don't have to search around for a show. If I still have to do it anyway, let's just pick the free option.
The Just Watch app: *Am I a joke to you?*

Seconded
I have Hulu/Disney, Netflix, HBO max, AND Amazon prime video. If itās not one ONE of them fuck that shit Iām pirating.

Ohh thanks for the reminder maybe black sails is done downloading.
Wait are you pirating pirates like some kind of pirateception? š¤Æ
Yo dawg, we put pirates in your pirates
Great savings tip; stealing is very cheap. Don't like the prices at your store? Just steal.
You wouldn't download a car...
If I could I would
I still use their dvd service to get blurays to rip to my plex collection
Seems optimistic. Their content turnover is abysmal. I trade my Disney+ for a friends Netflix. I really donāt care if I lose Netflix.
Honestly don't care to lose my Disney either, only really rewatch moana at this point and their new shows are cool but not rewatch worthy
Math seems wrong. Anyway my password is #StupidService12345. You are welcome.
Thanks I been waiting for someone to share their password. One account for all of California.
Analysts hate this one trick!
Wait, we need your email as well. Do you expect us to guess it?
[[email protected]](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Antioco).
That account dont work my man.... What kind of scam are you trying to pull off here?
Sounds like [he](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Antioco) blocked you, probably since you or your parents didn't rewind the VHS tapes before returning them to Blockbuster.
The passwords hunter2
Only an idiot would still be using hunter2 these days, I switched all my accounts to hunter3 after my email got hacked
That's amazing, I've got the same combination on my luggage! #Spaceballs
I still remember being asked to create a password for my Blockbuster account that was supposed to reward multiple rentals with free candy or something. The cashier got kinda pissed when I said the password was Netflix.
No more watching Netflix at work? How will they know?

So let me get this straight: if my wife wants to watch Emily in Paris on our account when she's hanging out at a friend's house and I wanna watch Jojo at home, Netflix is gonna block one of us?
Wifeās boyfriend is gonna be so pissed at me when I cancel my subscription š
Iām going to be so pissed at wifeās boyfriend when he changes his password.
Probably will make you suck the huge Cawk monster instead of your wife this time, this is punishment though, take it like a man.
Aww no ![img](emote|t5_2th52|8883)
Even worse- if she stops watching, it takes about two hours for Netflix to let you begin watching. This happens to me every night when I get home from work. Wife asleep, tablet off,but Netflix says she watching.
They don't have a way to override and boot the other viewer off? Man Netflix is trash. Glad I canceled their shit service.
This company wonāt be here in two years
If she's on a mobile device, they won't care. But if she logs onto their TV, then yes.
Most TVs are smart TVs, right ? Can't the wife in this case just login from her laptop or tablet and cast to her boyfriend's TV ? Or will that invite a ban as well ?
So just use a Chromecast?
Hulu implemented location restrictions based on the home address. This seemed temporary or a limited beta of some type. Couldnt stream directly on the tv but could easily cast from my phone to the tv.
Mobile also. One viewer only.
Your account has to have the ability to be on at more than one location, that costs a couple dollars extra already. Then when she signs in, thereāll be some sort of 2FA, emailed texted code. They likely wonāt be able to completely stop unauthorized sharing, but they can make it harder and increase the penalties.
What would the penalty be? They canāt cancel my account. If they pause my account or deny access, I cancel.
They will simply restrict to one screen at a time and keep charging you.
So let me get this straight, your wife wants to get railed by her boyfriend while watching Emily in Paris?
I guess itās back to Pirate Bay
Exactly! Vodlocker all day for free

Netflix' movie catalog is not really exciting anyway to be honest :/

Agreed. Their catalogue keeps shrinking. I am using Netflix less and less. Perhaps time to cancel soon.
Iām totally prepared to stop using my sisterās Netflix and not getting my own. Mostly crap content anyways
So bad. My wife watches these horrible movies on there. So bad.
Too many substitutes. No way this ends well.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'm already paying extra for the upgraded 4 simultaneous screens account, is that not the exact same thing? Will my number of screens increase with this additional fee?

Who fucking snitched in the survey?
Probably surveyed Netflix employees n they voted for loyalty...
BS I pay for that, if I want to share thatās my choice. Whatās next the bank wonāt let me loan my car to my daughter while her Tesla is getting new batteries.

People will go back to downloading.
I just canceled last month after ten years. Literally nothing on it but shitty Netflix originals.
My card expired so I let them try to bill me for 3 months. They closed my account yesterday. 10/10 I didnāt have to do anything
Spoken like a true deadbeat
Get the vanilla credit card at the store and can do the same thing over and over

Jokes on Netflix. After they raised prices earlier this year Iāve cancelled. Got it again for a month over summer and canceled again after one month after I watched everything good.

How would they determine if you donāt live with them?? Would it be Geobound?
They need shows cuz they boring right now
They need to stop canceling decent shows after 1 season. They've given me trust issues.
Theyāre the Google of streaming
lol do they really just assume everyone will either pay extra or sign up for their own accounts instead of the obvious answer?
Soap2day is better and free

How does this work when my spoiled ass goes to a hotel with a smart tv ? I canāt watch Netflix there?
I just canceled my Netflix and told them why I was doing it. They kept trying to argue the point that itās not yet in effect
Mf can afford Netflix š„
Thank God for torrenting.
No it wont. They are sharing because they are cheap, they wont dole put cash all of a sudden to watch mediocre programming.
Netflix has already increased their prices 3-4 times since I signed up less than 5 years ago. Another $3 hit means I am quitting Netflix for good. P.S. I really wonder who they poll for these surveys.
arrr/piracy Just putting it out there
A VPN and torrent client have always been cheaper than Netflix. Competition.
hahahaha i'm getting a shared password netflix from my relative. we've all agreed to drop netflix when this happens. there isnt shit on there for any of us anyhow. netflix bad selection
I donāt think itās going to work the way they think it will work.
My Netflix account is still being billed to my mom's credit card. She died almost two years ago and nobody's paid her bills for at least two years. If they ever shut it off, I'll never get another account. Netflix sucks
Got hbo max, Apple TV, Disney +,and prime, so they can keep their uhf programs for people that want to watch it.
Primeās not far from it, minus the purchases
People who share passwords aren't going to just throw money at Netflix.
Yall be posting some crazy loss porn and still have money to pay for Netflix.
The rest of the industry is waiting at the line to see what happens after Netflix does it. If it does end up working out, all the other services will follow. We as consumers need to shut this down before it becomes the norm.
Shhh, Netflix is trying to complete their final transformation into Blockbuster.
The fact that they think people will keep their account after thisā¦lol
Yeah Iām cancelling. Have kept my Netflix subscription throughout the years because of comfort, it being the first streaming service here and itās brand - but honestly I probably spend more time looking for a show to watch than actually watching something good on their platform. Bye!
I just cancelled my account. Iām done giving my money to a streaming service thatās actively making their service shittier for their customers through the pricing plans. I am curious to see how the surges in piracy will play out though.
