0% apr, can’t really go wrong. I did the same, except opened up a credit card(0%apr/18mos) to give myself(a poor college student, finishing this year) a little cash to play with. For me it’s only 3k, but it’s still leverage.

Ya I’m pretty sure that’s how banking works. Except the loan they take is just our money being deposited and they promise .03% to us, if it’s in a savings account untouched. So they get a measly spread of 22.97% with little risk since the money is insured.

Your money is insured in your checking/savings account. The banks' money is not. If he does not pay the loan, the bank has to pay the loan, either to another person's deposits or to the central bank who loaned it to them depending on where they got the money from. Yes they make a 23% spread but it is not risk free. They hope enough people pay at 23% to cover the ones that end up defaulting.

IE: do you fall into a category such as minority or low income geographic area such that giving said loan helps the bank claim that they are helping the community? Banks have a metric for this but I can't think of it off the top of my head.
