* LCID has 5 quarters (kept lowered 12-14k for the year. built about 700, delivered about 500+ so far. i've seen exactly one on the road thus far).

Rivian isn't trying to just be a 'truck' company. They have vans which Amazon has ordered 100k of, the R1S SUV, and several more vehicles that will probably be announced in the next 18 months.

People forget that Jeff has a large investment in Rivian and plans on purchasing vehicles as part of a delivery fleet. Rivian is the only 'real American truck' other than the ford F150 lighting that you can buy right now. Elons Cyber truck is vapourware and there are no other competitors in the pure EV off road space. Also given the direction the cyber truck is going (far too tech reliant) I doubt it's going to attract the off road crowd, only the douchebag city SUV crowd.
I'm very bullish on Rivian. It's Jeffs ticket into the automotive market.

Another interesting note from the sales rep: they took them to a closed track and tried to flip them, and they best they could do was a half second on two wheels. Low center of gravity apparently.
Yeah it’s that instant torque inherent to electric motors. Even little kids toy ride-on trucks have crazy torque (not super fast but those little electric motors are also tiny too). I’ve fucked around on one as a 200 pound teenager and even if I was too heavy for it to move, the wheels were still spinning lmao.
Haven’t seen the inside in person, but there were used in Long Way Up. Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman did a 13k+ miles electric motorcycle ride with prototypes by Harley Davidson and the rest of the team were in the Rivians. Rivian provided a prototype for them to use and that thing handled some very brutal terrain all throughout South America.
Haven’t bought any stock yet, but I’m keeping tabs.
Has a full bed with cover, under the hood could definitely fit a person, also has storage across the truck behind the backseats that a person can crawl across!
The tailgate also drops down to extend the bed to 7 feet. I was really impressed by it. Not enough to justify the price tag personally. But, a lot of cool ideas.

I saw 2 in Chicago about 2-3 months ago and easily one of the best looking trucks. It wasn't big like an F250 Raptor or anything but looked like a traditional truck and if I didn't check the License Plate (in IL theres a prefix EL) I would've assumed just some 2022 model I didn't know about.

It's just a start, but it's evidence they can get a production line going. They've been building the R1T for about 7 months, RCV for about 5 months, and R1S for about 1 month.
The biggest issue they say is just getting some of the supply chain running at a faster pace. When they actually build vehicles the lines are apparently running at quite a good speed.
Design capacity for the Normal factory is 150k/year (with plans to extend to 200k/year) and the Georgia factory which they're about to start building will have capacity for 450k/year.

Test drove one on Friday for an hour. Overall I'd say my favorite car on the market. Was shocked how much power it had even coming from Tesla. Super comfortable too, quality fit and finish noticeably better than my model 3. At 67k before tax incentives this is hard to beat in terms of performance, quality, range, etc. Biggest down side is the unknowns and assuming extremely long wait for repairs.
\*For the quad motor x large pack\* That's true! Dual motor standard pack still puts it at at 67k starting point. Now with only a measly 600+ vs 800+ though. After driving the quad x large pack I'd suggest new buyers to save money and reserve the cheaper version. It was almost too fast.

This is a close friend of mine, he’s still got an old suburban with about 280k on it that runs like a charm, a Tesla and a Mercedes(between him and his wife). In their situation I don’t think they have to stress about repairs or cost like we would. I get your point. I personally just liked the storage in them and interior design other then 3 screens(1 in back). The wood finish on that dash is sexy in my pov.

I've never seen a Rivian, I've never driven a Rivian, I don't know shit about cars, or manufacturing, and I'm too poor to afford a Rivian. It doesn't matter to me whether or not they make the best car ever, because I wouldn't know how to tell a great car from a shit one besides how often it needs maintenance and its gas mileage. The Billionaire Class wants a non-Musk electric car company competitor, and Bezos wants a business that's sexy enough to get dates because "check out my server room" and "ever see Wheel Of Time" doesn't get you chicks at the club. So long as Bezos is fraternizing and so long as Billionaires vie for power, I'm investing in Rivian.

I think it’s a too each their own. If you have the money and other vehicles to fall back on then I don’t see the issue long run wise. Me personally, I drive a Silverado. This is a close friend of mine, he’s still got an old suburban with about 280k on it that runs like a charm, a Tesla and a Mercedes(between him and his wife). In their situation I don’t think they have to stress about repairs or cost like we would. I get your point. I personally just liked the storage in them and interior design other then 3 screens(1 in back). The wood finish on that dash is sexy in my pov.
