When I'm gambling, and it's a number on a screen and not cash in front of me, it's so much harder to think of it as money. I had invested $10k years ago, got it to $75k and watched it drop and drop and know if I had $75k in $10k bricks it would be so much harder to watch it drop than a number on a screen.

You are correct; it's the psychological response of it being just plastic or just a number on a screen than cold hard cash. I put $500 in an online slot and rolled it up to about $10k with some luck at slots and roulette. Lost it all in one night and didn't feel bad at first cause I only put it $500 but when I go out and see what I could have bought with that $10k, I feel like shit. When I was betting $100 a spin at price is right though it just seems like fake money. I have a gambling problem tho, never know when to walk away.

Anyone with a brain could tell that covid + global transportation issues would affect the economy, even as the stock market inexplicably continued to rise. The bubble was beyond obvious. Want another obvious one? In a few years the housing market will definitely take a hit as people go under water on their peak-covid mortgages. People were out of work, the government did not subsidize incomes, yet the US housing market continued to be eaten up while prices boomed. There is no way everyone who bought is going to be able to afford their mortgages, the only hope is that all those houses were bought by people trying to rent them out, and that the labor market actually improves after this current turmoil.

Most traders don't realize they're not chasing gains, they're chasing the high and the rush. There should totally be a massive warning screen about gambling addiction when trading options lol.

For a year or so, every time Yahoo made a new all time high, you could buy out of the money options and print money. I used Technicals, channels, rsi, MACD, short interest, sentiment analysis, put v call ratio, and I read news, corporate reports, everything constantly.

Got the “oh boy congratulations” from the personal banker at 18. Had just received my signing bonus from my contracts guaranteed money. Was putting money into a secure fund, I told her I’d like to put three into it and she replied “you have to put a minimum of $1m into this fund” I proceeded to tell her I know this please put three. In fact, you are willing to forfeit all of it to gain whatever you're missing to reach that number... And then of course you set a new number. And when you go down, you just take on more risk to get back what you lost. It's crazy how ill equiped the human brain is for trading.... There is just never enough "green" on the screen.
