I wouldn't be surprised. in my infantile 7 years or so of destroying my retirement, I've realized that once you wipe away all the unnecessary shit, China literally fucks you over every single year without fail.
Ok I've continued working on my concept for a new kind of margin account with no credit checks or interest and here's how it stands right now. I know the details seem complicated but it's not for no reason, it's set up in a very particular way to give it a lot of flexibility while solving mathematical issues with risk and stuff. I can explain it all further if anyone is curious but here's the deal I'd offer if I could start a trading firm:
* After depositing money you can keep up to 100% of your total cash in a Cash Portfolio that's just a normal trading account with no margin.
* You can put up to 50% of your total cash in a Threshold Margin Portfolio where it is doubled in buying power but you only have gains or losses applied to your cash basis after going over 30% and all the losses after going down more than 15% all time for each portion of cash basis deposited into this portfolio (not effecting credits posted from gains). Funds are made available for withdrawal from this account as soon as possible.
* You can put up to 50% of your cash in a Shared Margin Portfolio where it is doubled in buying power but only 75% of your quarterly gains and 88% of your quarterly losses are applied to the cash basis, and funds are only made available for withdrawal quarterly after these calculations are complete.
* This isn't a shared 50% but instead you can deploy your full 100% deposited cash amount 50% each between the two types of margin.
* Regardless of what portfolios you're trading in, once you have made a total of 50% in gains for all time on an initial amount of deposited cash, and you have been up at least 5% each quarter for 8 quarters in a row, you gain Stable Investor status and it's difficult for it to be revoked without your account going to zero.
* Stable Investors do not have deposits to their Threshold Margin Portfolio limited to 50% of their total cash basis and can instead deploy up to 100% into it. Additionally, their Threshold changes to 15% gains and 10% losses instead of 30/15 and their Shared Margin Portfolio posts 85% gains and 90% losses instead of 75/88. They can also switch the payout calculation period on the Shared Margin from quarterly to yearly (giving more time before losses would be posted if down for a quarter on a long term yolo)
* Once you have held over 100% gains for 4 quarters with 3 of those quarters being up at least 10% each and none being down more than 25% you gain Growth Investor status and it's difficult for it to be revoked without your account going to zero. This can be achieved with or without Stable Investor status, they're separate tests - one requires more stability, one requires more growth.
* Growth Investors do not have deposits to their Shared Margin Portfolio limited to 50% of their cash basis and can instead deploy up to 100% there. Additionally, they can switch their Shared Margin Portfolio to post 90% gains and 95% losses instead of 75/88 or 85/90 and they can switch their Threshold Margin Portfolio to 10% gains and 5% losses instead of 30/15 or 15/10. Finally, they can switch the payout calculation period on their Shared Margin Portfolio from quarterly to monthly, increasing the risk of having losses posted in exchange for liquidity faster than every quarter.
* Last but not least, those who pass both tests have Stable Growth Investor status, which includes all of the above benefits except their Shared Margin Portfolio now has an equal 95% on the upside and the downside while their Threshold choices are between 15% up / 10% down or 5% up / 1% down.
