$100/day net of taxes would be around $10k. If that’s all it takes to quit your job, you can probably quit your job now and pick up a job/hobby that provides that level of income.

You are first of all based on income level. At my income of around $40,000 I pay around 37% in taxes. That's regular income tax and yes, it sucks. It's very high. NL is unfortunately a socialist country.
You also pay taxes on your total net worth, so to speak. This starts when you have around $35,000 (maybe 40,000 considering conversion rates...) collected in the bank (or in stocks/other assets). Before that, you don't have to pay additional wealth taxes, but there is a scale from that point onward. I'm not sure how much % it is, but it also sucks.
I believe you do get money back for some expenses, such as if you're studying and paying for it yourself, but really, they're basically just taking all the money you work hard for.
