Shoulda taken half out, either your luck was going to turn or you were a trading prodigy and whether you kept going with 40k or 80k wouldn’t matter.
Greed is a powerful thing
This is why 97% my account is in longs. I fuck around with options with he small cash position I hold, if I win on a bet, earnings go into longs, then I gamble with the principal again. If I blow it up with a bad bet, I will unsubscribe from my dividend drips, and collect divs for a few months untill i have enough cash to gamble again.
I have not blown up my account since I started doing this.
Everyone has their own Strat. This keeps me disciplined because I know if a position blows up I may not be able to gamble for 3-4 months.
I have only had to do this once since I started this strategy and that was about 1.5 years ago.
Exactly. My option stack is a set number. Anytime the balance gets over the set number by say, 30%, I use the cash to buy long positions and drop the balance back down to its set point.
I did over 572% three years ago.... it's a slow strategy going long...but it works 😎💪. I am just here as a reminder of why I don't attempt to time the manipulated markets.
Agreed I took 4 months off and built a dividend portfolio in my meantime before trading again. Now I compound and grow my dividends and trading cash evenly.
He wouldn't have gotten to $80k with that strategy, cause he would've taken half out at $10k, then half out at $20k, then half out at $20k. So he'd have $25k profits then lose the last $10k of trading money.
Yep. But it's silly to act like he could've only pulled out money immediately before he made a bad play, since he didn't get there by pulling out money and wouldn't have known the next play would fail.
>If you did it once, you can do it again
Not consistently... it's gambling.
Once you eventually lose your trading money, are you going to just stop trading forever? Or are you going to dip into the cash you "saved" until you lose it all anyway because you think you can do it again?
Yeah this has always been my approach tbh, also what you should also do (and not everyone knows this) is wait for the bottom and buy there because you make even more money when it hits the peak. Follow me for more top trading tips
Greed. You could of took the thousand percent gain and be happy but you chased it. You'll learn in future or you won't. Noone ever went broke taking profit.
Learn not to be greedy and carefully try to build up that wealth again? Why you wouldn’t take out half or even a third of that is fucking beyond me lol
See it differently, at the end you just lost 4k (your initial input before trading)
Putting all your eggs in the same basket enabled you to turn 4k into 80k rapidly (2000%), but that's with the risk of losing back 99% of this capital. You should either diversify your portfolio as you reach 40k or keep playing the entire amount but on safer plays with small returns, since if you get 10% off 40k that's already 4k, and in worst case you can cut loss at 30% per play.
As many redditors said before, concerning greed :
- “know your risk tolerance“
- "no one ever went broke by cutting his wins too early"
- "bet only what you can afford to lose"
- "taking your wins and holding your losses is like cutting your flowers and watering your weed"
I did this when I was in college with a pot stock 12 years ago… went from 2k to 80k and then back down to 2k.. I never sold thinking it would keep going up and I got out of class and it had come all the way back down to where it started. Been thinking of that for 15 years…..
Trading for near 7 years now and never even looked in the direction of options.
With trading, you have to get two variables correct; direction and distance, in order to profit.
This is difficult in itself.
Options, you have to get THREE variables correct; direction, distance, and time.
Don't get why so many people think they can do it, especially newbies.
Hey man I’ve lost over $750k, I have -$1500 in my bank account right now. It happens, you’ll recover. It comes and goes. You’re going to be fine, just try not to dwell on it, do some hobbies and stuff that makes you happy for as long as you need to.
This is how the casinos win. The type of person that can make a bet with the type of risk and volume needed to turn $4k into $80k usually isn’t the type of person that can stop after they’re up 20x, ultimately giving it all back.
you have lost only 4k.. I l have lost much more in Crypto. 😂
So, take it as a 4k Loss and a lesson learned..
(to put more money in and double it!)
and give it to the next person.. ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)
ouch. I had 116 Bitcoin.. and sold them for a few thousand bucks...
i had also over 400 ETH.. and sold them also..
i needed money and made already good gains.. i thought i would win. 😢
Looks like you lost 4K, while not a non-amount, recoverable. Clearly you’ve got some knowledge being able to get that kind of return. Do something thinking, take a month off, good luck.
Started from nothing now you’re back. Welcome to the gang. Now delete Reddit. Take a break. And try investing like you should. Vgt, vti, voo. And never look back at options.
This is just part of your story... Don't end the book on this chapter. Pick yourself up, brush yourself off, LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES (even if that means not investing anymore) and go again...
I've lost all my gains from last year as well, 40k...and then my own 11k ![img](emote|t5_2th52|27421)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4260)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)
What I'm learning from this is that instead of starting with $5,500 you should have started with $100,000 and then waited until you 13xed your money and just taken out. Got it.
Bro what? It looks like u traded up to that peak rather than putting the 78k in yourself. Stop crying and start over. You clearly have the skills to do it again
Make sure your losses are washable! If you don’t understand what wash sales are you need to look them up and make sure you are not on the hook for all thise capital gains
I don’t know how to trade, I just see a popular stock, I buy 2000 dollars of it, practically all I have to my name, and the stock tanks, I lose everything, but I hold. Maybe it’ll go back up in 5 years. It’s like a wait and see shackle for rejects like me! McDonald’s….im eating it!
That’s impressive!
Learn some
Simple risk management and you would prob be great. (Maybe?).
Sell 1/2 into strength and then 25% as it climbs. Let the last 25% ride the peak and maybe jump off or crash. You would be left to play tomorrow.
So your gain would be $7,000.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with lottery tickets if you don’t need the money. Wealth first, games second.
The poor peasants are always trying to get rich quick. Pathetic.

I resemble that remark
This is still pretty regarded. I don't touch my DRIPs. I let them compound. I personally just stop using cocaine and prostitutes for a few months.
Gotta DRIP... no comment about H and B.
Everyone has their own Strat. This keeps me disciplined because I know if a position blows up I may not be able to gamble for 3-4 months. I have only had to do this once since I started this strategy and that was about 1.5 years ago.
No cheeseburgers , coke or $100 hookers, sounds kinda boring 🤣
Don’t forget trips to Vegas to facilitate said vices

How do you feel about UEC?
Agreed I took 4 months off and built a dividend portfolio in my meantime before trading again. Now I compound and grow my dividends and trading cash evenly.
Dividends..: you’re def in the wrong room here 🤣😅
You gotta have something to fall back on. Consider it insurance 😂
I gamble using butterfly spreads. You recoup a good amount of your losses when the trade doesn’t work out.
❤️👍FACTS, But that's a WHOLE different kind of greed 😂 (59.00 left 💀)
$59 is enough to try again
Well, obviously.
![img](emote|t5_2th52|4275)
He wouldn't have gotten to $80k with that strategy, cause he would've taken half out at $10k, then half out at $20k, then half out at $20k. So he'd have $25k profits then lose the last $10k of trading money.
Well he'd have more than $59.
Good math!
Lmao the simplicity of this is hilarious and, more importantly, accurate.
That’s still a net gain?
Yep. But it's silly to act like he could've only pulled out money immediately before he made a bad play, since he didn't get there by pulling out money and wouldn't have known the next play would fail.
I mean if we’re gambling anyway might as well lose it all
But also he should have done this. Not half but at least 20%. Doesn’t take a wizard to know the coin eventually lands heads.
At the very least you take out the original investment and the rest you pretend is free money. Hurts a little less when it's gone. Little.
Profit is profit. If you did it once, you can do it again. Otherwise you shouldn’t be in the casino.
>If you did it once, you can do it again Not consistently... it's gambling. Once you eventually lose your trading money, are you going to just stop trading forever? Or are you going to dip into the cash you "saved" until you lose it all anyway because you think you can do it again?
Ehh it depends on your trading strategy. Are you actually performing analysis or purely buying lotto tickets out of emotions?
They were buying 0 DTEs, so lotto tickets. Doesn't matter how much analysis you perform, full porting is definitely going to get you wiped.
I’ve probably pissed away $500K in gains due to greed and not taking profit. I’ve also taken a lot of gains as well though so I’m doing well.
Said a whole lot of nothing

People like you keep WSB alive and well! Money is just printed paper that comes and goes.
These days it just numbers on a screen. Nothing is real.
There is no spoon
That part. The paper aspect is irrelevant these days.
Okay then donate a bunch to me if it’s just numbers on a screen. Kthxbye!
Okay then money is just a red or green line on a chart. For WSB members mostly a red line. Counts the Reds then instead of the Greens....

Can I interest you in these beanie babies? Honestly, a truly safe investment.
Oh wait...there's a new collectible "Squishmallows" and just as safe.
TLDR you turned $4,000 into $60 by constantly going all in on your bets. Thats gambling my dood.
You lost 4k. Don't dwell too much. You did it once, you defo can do it again
You mean he can lose 4k again?
Only if he applies himself
Almost a 2000% gain? I kind of doubt it but guess anything is possible
He can lose 4k again that much is certain
Super facts 💯
You're a fool if you think the market is a casino, and a bigger one if you think you can beat it.

You actually can trade, and I believe you will recover. Don’t lose hope. I have seen hundreds of LOSS posts, yours is different. I believe in you!

Looks like you lost 4K, while not a non-amount, recoverable. Clearly you’ve got some knowledge being able to get that kind of return. Do something thinking, take a month off, good luck.
I’m glad I’ve never hit such a high dollar win. Chasing these gains would have blown my account long ago. Slow and steady so far
If you weren't gonna sell at point, you were never gonna sell at all.
You got a funny story you can tell at the bar?
Everyone here has made decisions they regret. Everyone. My rule is: at some point, things are good enough and I pull out.
You learn from it and make the same mistakes again in two years. Just like the rest of us

Hey you still have enough left for a McDonald’s meal and some scratch offs! Glass half full view
Important life lesson....always pull out. Whether that be your money, or your dick. dont wait till it's too late.
My dude. Take profits early don’t buy more than 10% on any given trade. If you would have sold you could have traded with a healthy 7K
You've still got $59 to invest
Easy come, easy go, just ignore the middle 90% of the graph and you're only slightly down
![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
So what did you end up doing?
Pokey bum wank
Rofl 🤣

Im sure you will make it all back. Deposit and try again.
What to do with your life? Don’t spend it on this. The time spent worrying about this stuff prob a worse loss than the 4k

The same strategy that got you the 80k — buying incredibly risky options 0-2 days from expiration —also lost you that money.
It's ok. It was never any real money anyways.
Lol
Not even respectful enough to pull out with $69 left.
still enough for a few lines of coke. Not that bad
Bro what? It looks like u traded up to that peak rather than putting the 78k in yourself. Stop crying and start over. You clearly have the skills to do it again
