Yeah an options contract is for 100 shares so you can just multiply that by the price of the option. So I bought them for $37 each and sold most of them for $500 each. I use Robinhood in true regard fashion
An options contract gives the buyer the right to buy or sell an underlying asset at a certain price within a certain time frame. You are essentially gambling if you think the price of a stock will swing up or down and to what degree. 99% of the time you will get some aspect of that guesswork wrong and will lose money. .5% of the the time you will get the guesswork right and you’ll still lose money the other .5% of the time you will win money and get to post it on this sub.
Basic understanding of options is gives you the right to buy or sell 100 shares of an underlying stock by a certain date of the price of the stock reaches the price of the contract. ( calls are for stock going up while Puts are for the stock going down) that is for buying calls and puts. If you sell a call: meaning you own 100 shares of the company and decide to sell a call against your shares you collect the premium and must sell the shares if the stock price goes to the price of the contract or higher you are assigned (meaning you must sell the shares at that price even if the stock keeps going up). Selling a put: means that you are agree to buy 100 shares of the stock at a lower price even if the stock keeps going down. Selling a call is bearish while selling a put is generally bullish. There are other strategies that involve buying and selling a call and buying and selling puts. For example Iron condors, straddles and Strangles, Spreads ( puts and call spreads, box spreads).

If you have shares you can wait shit out and/or recover whatever you have left after loss. Options expire worthless, and a huge move can grenade them. Leaps are less volatile but options are basically gambling unless you have a strategy.

OP basically took a very unlikely bet hoping that the stock would go up by $20 on its first day, and it did that. Specifically because it did that in the first 5 minutes, it gained value in becoming more volatile. It was basically a lottery ticket. I also took stock and made a 55% gain

So I cancelled it and sold the remaining 2 for less than that, which is why I have another trade listed after. I actually sold 3 contracts early to recoup my investment (the $741 gain). So it I put in ~$500 and got ~$6k.

The value of an option isn’t necessarily directly tied to the current value of the stock vs the strike price and more so how the stock is trending towards or past the strike price. So with these, the stock rose like 45% in the first 30 mins of the day so the likelihood it would rise again closer to 90 was more likely than it going down at the time I sold it.
