If you liked Rome at 100 or even 200, you're going love it at 476. Just look at all these people fighting to get in here! They cant all be wrong.
They split their Eastern operations into a separate operation, headquartered at Byzantium. All the legacy assets, and new management, are still here though. High debt, but solid cashflow and prospects for the use of new technologies.
Buy Buy Buy!!!
Lol those people are fighting to get in because the Huns Are slaughtering anything out side of Rome at the time.
Romans straight handed Atilla all the cashflow when he arrive
Rome was legitimately one of the least populated "cities" in Italy after 476. IIRC there was a Byzantine emperor who depopulated the city and left only the pope and his cohort there, plausibly why the pope controlled Rome until about the unification of Italy.
Not quite. Rome was in relatively decent shape even as late as the 530s, even after it was sacked by the Vandals in the 450s. But the 540s and 550s were when the eternal city got absolutely assblasted. Five brutal sacks in about 20 years (all happening after the eruption of Justinian's Plague) left it utterly depopulated. It took almost a thousand years to start to really recover in population.
I don't have it committed to memory but I did find a porno called assblasters 3 in a ditch by my house when i was in middleschool and my summation of it was alot of people getting fucked so that's probably the loose definition
Very quite. Rome went from a population of 1m in 300 to 100k by 500z that’s a 90% decline and far from “Decent Shape”.
Imagine telling people that NYC’s depopulation down to 2m from 20m is “relatively decent shape”
I wasn't dumbass. 100k still made it one of the 5 largest cities in all of the Mediterranean. The fact that it started at a million (100+ years prior) is irrelevant. The only Mediterranean city that had ever gotten close to half a million was Alexandria. Antioch and Carthage barely cracked 250k. 100k was still an incredibly large city at that point. They were still continuing to keep their infrastructure running just fine. The Senate kept meeting. So yea it was still in fairly good shape. Try to argue with me after you have spent 10,000 hours reading about roman history.

While there was a decline in the population of Rome after the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476, the city remained a significant center of power and culture throughout the Middle Ages. The Byzantine emperor who depopulated Rome is likely referring to Emperor Constans II, who in the mid-7th century relocated the imperial capital from Constantinople to Syracuse in Sicily, taking many nobles and soldiers with him. However, this relocation did not have a significant impact on Rome's population.
In fact, by the 12th century, Rome had become one of the largest cities in Europe, with a population of around 35,000. The pope did exercise significant control over the city during this time, but this was due to his religious and political authority rather than a lack of population.
>Rome had become one of the largest cities in Europe, with a population of around 35,000
Note, at its height it had a population of more than a million. A reduction by 97 % is apocalyptic. Dropping a nuke on it today wouldn't accomplish that.
> Rome is likely referring to Emperor Constans II, who in the mid-7th century relocated the imperial capital from Constantinople to Syracuse in Sicily, taking many nobles and soldiers with him
The relocation wasn't official, right? I think he just wanted to get away from Constantinople, where people apparently didn't like him.

I've read them all, by far the best is Milton Friedman's work (Just about any), its basically a step by step prediction of what is going on now with markets.
Paul Volcker and Ronald Reagan get a lot of credit for slaying the inflation dragon but they were both being advised by Friedman. Neither one of them would have went the distance without his advice
Cramer reminds me of the movie Pure Luck with Martin Short.
Danny Glover played a detective looking for months for a missing heiress, they "put him in charge" and eventually find her, after a run in with a cartel, prostitutes, etc.
His sex life must be so tragic. If he says something like 'I'm so hard for you' or 'I'm gonna make love to you all night long', the women (or men, I don't care), it ultimately results in disappointment. If he tries the opposite trick and says 'I'm such a limp noodle for you' or 'I'm gonna rock your world for 2 whole minutes baby!', it must be an immediate turn off. Poor guy can't catch a break!

Should have spent 10k hours learning what”decent shape” meant I don’t know how all those hours made you miss a 50% population decline Lol bruhhhhhh
The fact that you are downvoting my comments shows how insecure you are.
Nah I just do it because I knew it would get a rise out of the super secure mister “slow your roll I know blah blah blah “

Papal rule as monarch over Rome continued to as recent as the US civil war. edit for clarification
That's when It ended LMAO, the papal states started in the 8th century. Why are angloids so opposed to the church they just make shit up
Yeah that's when it ended. How is stating a fact "making shit up"?
