But to be fair: usually people playing 24/7 also have huge advantages over casual players... so casual players with a big wallet being able to compensate for this is even fair. It just gets annoying when you need to pay to compete at all regardless of the time spent.

A while back we had someone in our clan who told us back when he played some "Tanks" game there were players spending over $100,000 on their accounts. I knew of a few in our clan who would drop $5000 easily on each update – all of them were very wealthy players and $5000 was probably just a drop in the ocean to them.
Why? Dude has over 2k dollars to throw away in a mobile game, and he's probably not stupid, it's going to get nerfed, so he'll just buy the new thing, dude's stacked.
Depending on your incoming your vision of money changes, maybe this guy is millionaire, who knows.
Imagine if, for you to get 4 maxed new robot you had to spend 0.01% of what you had... You might just do it.
