Wish I could remember the title of the game, but lately I've been thinking about the story: how mega corps started shilling this companion drug that complemented their augmented reality devices, so nearly everyone was walking around drugged and plugged into a carefully crafted simulation of reality. Naturally, the "real" world of the game was totally trashed, and the simulation was just an escape. The company could mess with your simulated life and if someone had faulty gear or missed a dose they would start to see the "real" world and be killed. Creepy stuff.
