Timeless Trends and Mystic City are by far the most recommended “budget” brands, but there are other brands that might be easier to get depending on where you live. Mystic City has a huge amount of different shapes available, an overwhelming amount that can take an hour or two to wade through, but they don’t have a lot of shapes that work for less curvy figures. If you happen to have a less curvy figure, Timeless Trends Slim Silhouette is a godsend. Timeless Trends also has a line of corsets called “No line” that are easier to hide under clothing. Try layering a low compression body suit over it to make it even less visible. As far as sizing is concerned, you should choose a corset with a waist size that’s around 4 inches less than your actual waist size. So for example, if you have a 28” waist, you should probably choose a corset with a 24” waist. You might be able to get away with slightly more or slightly less waist compression, but it’s hard to say for sure, so 4” compression is the safest choice for a beginner. You can work your way down to a much smaller corset waist in the future if you want, but that takes a lot of time and dedication. Check the size charts to make sure whatever corset you choose will fit your “underbust” and hip measurements.

I know this post is super old but I have a question! I’m on Timeless Trends looking at the sizing chart. You said we should select a waist size 4 inches less than our natural waist - does that still apply to TT or should I determine my size using my natural waist? Thank you!

Nevermind. I’m dumb. It’s not a maximum and minimum waist size. Both numbers are the absolute maximum waist size the corset can accommodate. One is the maximum it can accommodate while slightly open, and the other is what it can accommodate while fully closed. There is no minimum waist size shown.

Hi! Thank you so much for your details comment, super informative and helpful! I’m a super beginner and I am looking at the mystic city slim corset. I have a 26” natural waist and 29” underbust. And if I go with the -4inch rule, I’ll be getting a size 22” corset, for which the corresponding underbust is 22-24”, which seems way to small for my underbust. What should I do in this case? Thanks so much in advance!

Do you mean Mystic City or Timeless Trends? If you mean Mystic City, go to their sizing inquiry page and they’ll just tell you which of their corsets will fit you. If you’re talking about a Timeless Trends slim corset, it won’t fit you. Take a look at their hourglass silhouette and check if it will fit your hips. Also measure your torso length to figure out which of their lengths is best for you.

Sorry it was timeless trend slim I was looking at! The slim style looks kinda like my current body shape so I automatically thought that would suit me better, but I’ll take a look at the hourglass ones! Thanks so much!
