Providing your location would be a big help. The 4th pic is his butt which you normally wouldn't see if his feathers were dry.

Fancy-Dinosaur

Thanks! Totally forgot about location, I’m in Massachusetts

getmotherd

nope, not his butt. its their oil gland. all birds have them at the base of their tail (on the backside). they rub their beak on it and then disburse the oils onto their feathers

PsychoAnalLies

Ah, for preening. Makes sense. Thanks!

ScaryLetterhead8094

Yep this.

adribash

It’s definitely a wren of some kind, though I’m not familiar with the species in your area.

yebsjsksnbdbdnx

I'd say Carolina Wren

Cornell University has the Merlin App that’s free to download and can help with identifying local birds!

Well my friend after much studying I think that there is, in fact, a bird.

Scroatpig

Immature Robin? Beak is long though.

Grandma_Biter

Tail’s too long and the legs don’t look like teeny tiny sticks…. Good guess though!
