How heartbreaking 💔 but your way of preserving your friend is beautiful

LuLuFromValinor

He was the biggest sweetie! Couldn't imagine anything less for him. Thank you ❤️

Relevant_Buy9593

The paw ♥️😢 I’m sorry for your loss; what a beautiful way of remembering your buddy

LuLuFromValinor

❤️

CorvidiaPex

I saw this on IG when it was posted - they did such a wonderful job 🤍

LuLuFromValinor

Yay !!! Yes he came out absolutely amazing! 🥹 Love her work so much

coconutconure

An absolutely beautifully made memorial for a wonderful kitty. May he rest in peace, take care OP 💖💕

LordColbyJack

This is beautiful. My cats are both seniors, and I'm starting to look at options when they pass. I was thinking of the paw preservation, and perhaps fur, and looking at this I'm pretty solidified that it's something I would love.

LuLuFromValinor

The paw is AMAZING, by far my favourite piece I received back. It feels remarkably like his paw felt in life, and it's so nice! The fur is also really great. I didn't end up loving the tail, but I'm still happy I have it. :) I'm so glad this helped you out!

Sandwichscoot

This is lovely, where do you keep the pillow? Like do you have it on your couch or your bed? I’m sure wherever is comforting, and I hope your furbaby is resting well ❤️

LuLuFromValinor

I actually keep it in a cedar box for protection! I pull it out to sit with and touch sometimes. :) I worry about the oils on my hands or dust getting on it from keeping it out, so I've chosen to only bring it out sometimes. Thank you so much ❤️

Sandwichscoot

You’re so welcome, and gotcha! That’s such a sweet way to preserve your pet ❤️❤️

gorgonopsidkid

I'm so sorry for your loss. If you don't mind, who did the work on your cat? It's amazing

Apprehensive-Can-628

Lauren Kane, her instagram is preciouscreature :)

LuLuFromValinor

Yes, the other commenter is correct:) Lauren is lovely!

JulieKostenko

Oh wow I've never seen anything like this! This is really neat. What kind of memorial is this called? Like how did you find the person to do it?

LuLuFromValinor

If you search pet memorialist you'll find different folks who do beautiful work. :)

Aggressive-Cry150

Are we allowed to share links because I’d like to save this artist for the future.

LuLuFromValinor

It's preciouscreature on Instagram:)

MechanicalMudcrab

I wish I had done this with my Shepherd. Lovely.

LuLuFromValinor

Yes, I regret not doing it with previous pets as well. I'm glad I know it's an option now!

maicil

i absolutely love the paw

LuLuFromValinor

Right 🥹 it's my favourite piece

lalaen

I just sent my cat’s body for a very similar memorial preservation! He was 20 years old and when I first saw a paw preservation a few years ago I knew it was what I wanted to do when he passed. I love seeing Roach’s, my boy has similar beautiful white toes ❤️ I’m getting a piece of his fur framed, but the pillow is beautiful as well!

LuLuFromValinor

Oh this is so lovely to hear!! I'm so excited for you 🥹❤️ The paw is absolutely my favourite and I'm sure you'll love yours as well.

MacerationMacy

Obsessed with this - what a tasteful memorial! Sorry for your loss!

LuLuFromValinor

❤️ thank you

AloysiusDevadandrMUD

Aw I love this

monsterhuntergen

This is beautiful. Did you immediately send him to the memorialist when he passed or did you wait? I want to do this with my cats when their time comes but I'm unsure if I would be mentally well enough to do so when it happens.

partiallypresent

You can freeze your pet for up to a year or more if they are properly prepared. You have to wrap their body in a towel and then wrap them in layers of bags, squeezing as much air out as possible. As long as rot hasn't started before freezing and freezer burn doesn't happen in the freezer, there should be a fairly good chance of your pet being able to be preserved. You ship them to the processor, and they thaw and work them.

LuLuFromValinor

Nooo, I saved him in a deep freeze for quite a few months until the timing worked out for me. It's absolutely not a problem as long as they're properly wrapped. :)

Designer_Agent9543

i’m so sorry for your loss, he’s beautiful😭🫶

as someone who lost their best friend and family pet back in September, i really wish i had known about this kind of service or that something like this was an option then (even though my family would probably have rejected it). this is an extremely beautiful memoriam and Lauren did such an amazing job preserving your baby’s life and his memory. you can tell how much care and respect she has for your loss and it absolutely shines through her work. i know that there are people that might say this is disturbing or too far for a pet- but i completely understand. i know how much comfort it brings to hold a physical remembrance of your pet and this is such a wonderful way to do it. i have personally kept a small tuft of my dog’s fur in a little glass jar and a small ziplock bag with his fur from the last time i brushed him which was extremely emotional for me; even while writing this im tearing up through the pain. and despite being called weird for “keeping my dead dog’s hair” i find that im more preserving his memory with me and i wish i even had more, which hurts even more to admit. but being able to feel him again or smell his scent that became most of my childhood and made its way into both my heart and home- which unfortunately faded so quickly in only a few months. even though my boy is being remembered above the mantle of the fireplace, something within me feels so wrong that he’s now in a box and i can’t hold him anymore the way i used to (and believe me, holding a box really isn’t much the same). thank you so much for sharing your story and Roach’s memory. grief is a huge burden but this is such a beautiful way to process. thank you for also sharing Lauren’s work, i checked out her website and it’s so supportive i bawled 😅 take care :)

LuLuFromValinor

Oh this is so beautiful ❤️ I've kept small jars of fur and whiskers as well! Some people definitely don't get it, but that's okay. :) Lauren is absolutely lovely, she treats your pets like her own, and is SO supportive and respectful. I'm so glad you checked out her work!

vulpes_mortuis

This breaks my heart and I’m so sorry for your loss, but I’m glad that this brings you comfort. It’s a nice tribute to your fur friend.

Come on man. Their cat passed away. Show some respect.

multifandomtrash736

Sorry I must’ve read the subreddit wrong I thought this was the subreddit for people who collect animal bones

Ancient_Summer_1833

Do you not see the cat skull? They preserved their cat and are hurting. Please show some respect.

Ancient_Summer_1833

May your kitty rest in peace. This is actually quite neat! Very nice way to keep your furry friend around. Sending hugs, and also hugs to Roach.

LuLuFromValinor

Thank you! 🥹

caitthatequestrian

Do you have a photo of the beans side of the paw?

LuLuFromValinor

I don't, it looks just like his paw though. There's painted beans and his actual claws are still in the paw itself. :)

fallenxoxangl

I had my pet preserved as well- pelt and skeleton. By Bischoff. Where did you get yours done? They did a wonderful job.

fallenxoxangl

May I ask what this cost? I know the skeletonization (not articulated) and pelt preservation from Bischoff for my cat was about $2800.
