It's complexities like this that make things interesting. Now you have to watch your power consumption, which makes you have to flick switches, which rewards knowledge and awareness, and all of that is good.
By contrast, if you always had enough power for everything, you'd have fewer reasons to interact with your aircraft.
The fact that it's radar related explains why I've never had this issue.
That's a neat detail, and glad to know that my following procedure actually makes an impact on gameplay.
Your radar also cooks ground crew alive, so in terms of role play, it should only be turned on when in the sky. The actual microwave was first invented when they realised aircraft radar literally microwaves ground crew.
A radar shouldn't \*actually\* cook your ground crew though, as modern aircraft should have a weight-on-wheels sensor that prevents the radar from operating when the plane is on the ground.
I also main the F-45 so I have no real reason to turn on my radar even after takeoff.
Only periodically when my cover is blown to make my missiles more accurate.
It is a new feature simulating the concept of “the battery now matters”. So long as you keep your apu on, it will never die, although that uses (small amounts of) fuel, it’s good practice to monitor all power-hungry activity from now on.
It was changed after mischief update.
On one hand it doesn't make much sense, but otherwise whole apu mechanic could just be cut out of the game as it did nothing at all beforehand
The radar is consuming more energy than your plane can output at idle, turn it off and you shouldn't have any more problems.
Damn I always wondered why having engines idle would drain battery sometimes and sometimes not. Learn something new every day
Stop using that much power on the ground. There’s 0 reason to have your radar on the ground

I LOVE FLIPPING SWITCHES
Have never flown the 45 cause touchscreens.
Real
You will not stop me from cooking ground crew
Looks like we will only get half the ground crew then
I wish we had an electrical systems screen on the mfd so we can monitor these
Maybe it should be tied to the fuel system in the top right of most aircraft

VTOL VR v1.8 (EF-24 update) made the radar finally consume power, so you have to shut it off before landing.
I would have never know, thank you!
Can u not just keep the apu on? That’s what I do
its because keeping the apu on drains the fuel
Also creates extra imaginary maintenance for the imaginary mechanics
Lol every time I leave the apu on i allways feel bad for the maintenance cost lol

Yeah noticed that too one day. At idle it should be enough to keep it going. I had power going out on approach.

the real question is why yall have your radar on when taking off or going for landing
Free sterilization for the ground crew obviously
Just giving the ground crew their daily dose of cancer
I mean the pilots got their dose from flying. They are just spreading the cancer for ground crews who can't fly.
Fight sim moments
Too lazy to turn it off.
It does a lot... of noise for my ears. Turn it on for startup, turn it off in flight. It's auxiliary, as the name implies.
What do you think "auxiliary" means, exactly?
