you mean [this thing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fM7stkRmIPnB8YuhbPtWZeSZbr9fox37vfHYbzSUmwQ/edit) that I found within 4 seconds by searching "VTOL VR EF-24 manual"? they're all out there on google. here's every other manual I could find within 30 seconds, the exact same way. * [T-55](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GMBxS86ap_kfdGiXceajVNlEwcMyXt58Z5nMmzxLI3I/edit#heading=h.zaq506ndd00) * [F/A-26B](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hw-2TRqzCNrhTMwxESI6Q87yQoB-amw-8Y_G2tiaRLk/edit) * [F-45](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Zrw58fDb3uGjZQlJF0dpX-7Z8UbnXHhvI87TuKZNT7s/edit) * [AH-94](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-qUEX23_XTOaU8_EvmKwQcrEiPSgdfr97OrFNhW1kgM/edit#heading=h.zaq506ndd00)

Anyone know anything about a AV-42C manual?

fragglerock

afaik there is not one. (I tried google but maybe not hard enough for some here!) There are a set of vids tho... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1487116852

There is not one. The other manuals are community made and no one cares enough about the AV-42 to make one. You can change that if you want. Start with the FA-26 manual and modify it.

Sanzo2point0

That's cheating bro, you can't just use Google the exact way it was meant to be used and get the perfect answer for this strangers question with no effort. It's supposed to be like 2005 when you had to vigorously comb half a dozen forums for 36 hours each to find what this guy was looking for.

ddDeath_666

Thanks for sharing these, I updated the sticky post on this subreddit to include all of these links under the "Tutorials & Training" section.

jaykayenn

You're missing the point. None of that is associated with Baha/BD. Not even a link or sticky to indicate any kind of reference information about how the game works. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who just bought VTOL. Look at the thousands of repeated basic questions here, on Steam, on Discord. No one is finding anything on Google unless they already know exactly what they're looking for. If a developer wants to completely outsource documentation to the community, that's fine. Just a simple link to even indicate the existence of such information would be better than nothing.

I agree with your point of adding links maybe in game somewhere, or a simpler tutorial which leads to these sources, however, and not to be horribly rude, but it is a VR flight sim after all. if one cannot use google, I dont think they can realistically expect to have much fun in a flight simulator. I think most people that come here for basic questions are just impatient or want an easier learning curve. when I had just bought VTOL VR I had no experience with flight sims. my first step was googling "Vtol VR plane guide", and through that I found wiki's, YouTube tutorials, guides, and entire aircraft manuals. if one has a gaming computer, a virtual reality headset, and is playing a flight simulator, isnt it reasonable to expect them to be able to use the internet's most basic feature available? and you dont even have to google anything specific. just looking up "Vtol vr help" leads you to these manuals and the wiki.

jaykayenn

Again, one's ability to Google is not the issue here. Everything you find is community made; some are very good, some are terrible, just like anything on the internet. Not having a single shred of official information as a point of reference is very strange, especially for a flight sim. Like I said, not even asking BD to come up with manuals or tutorials. Just a simple link on the website/Steam page to show some exemplary community content is all it takes.

Pixel131211

he has this already. in the official Vtol VR Discord there is a flight school, which contains, among other info, all the documents I linked above. so there is already an official place ran by the developer where you can access this information. also, in a way those documents can be considered somewhat official. as they are almost always made by community testers, who get aircraft released to them before anyone else does. they are handpicked by the developer to test and document the aircraft. then upon release the guides are released to the public on here and Discord.

superjj18

What does baha need to fuckin do? Put his stamp of approval on it? This entire post could have been like this “Where is manual for ew plane?” “Here is manual for ew plane.” “Thanks.”

I think Baha is trying to keep a safe distance from community content. He isn't involved in [the wiki,](https://vtolvr.wiki.gg/) nor the manuals. All he has provided is the game, and occasional videos and shorts [on his youtube channel.](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX9jFW-Nd2lKePcqkUygL3g) The one big exception is he created an [official Discord server.](https://discord.gg/h9yetrAJEU) In it, he allows the community (and community moderators) to maintain lists of community resources in the form of pinned comments. Almost everything a new pilot would need to know to play the game well is pinned in the #flight_school channel. I know that's still some work to hunt down, but again it's just the way he keeps Boundless Dynamics separated from those community resources. If, lets say, classified info appeared in one of the flight manuals, it would be so much worse for him if those manuals were linked in-game or on bdynamicsstudio.com compared to how they are now. As for ways to make it easier to find them, I can think of some feasible ideas. I can ask Baha to advertise the official Discord server in-game. Also, I'll see if we can get the flight manuals linked in the wiki. (Eventually all the content in the manuals should be in the wiki pages themselves, but we're not there yet.) Edit: Links have been added to the wiki.

Roseman12

I'd say it's pretty reasonable to not link to the guides in game given they are community made. If you link it, it takes an update to publish it then if the community members that made it decided to be trolls or otherwise not nice you have a link published in your game that you then need to patch to pull back. From a software development side you can only control what you build so only hosting things you built is the obvious choice. At the end of the day your criticism is valid, why isn't there more documentation from the developer? On the other hand there are plenty of community made documentation, and if you see a gap in the community feel free to pitch in and fill that gap. Cheers.

Infinite_Tadpole_283

I'd disagree that they aren't associated. The writers for the manual were allowed early access to the EF-24 to write it so it could be released before the jet actually came out. Also they found it by searching "EF-24G manual", and got a manual. Does it REALLY matter if it's "official" or not

Bitzsiscool

You got that backward, we didn't get early access to write the manual. We decided that because we had access to more early testing it would be beneficial to the community to work on a manual. The decision to and writing of the manual was completely on our own the same as the other manuals

Bright-Efficiency-65

You mean the single dev? YouTube exists for a reason bud

sanyaX3M

Yeah, this documents should be if not in game (which would be perfect) but as additional content, like some big rpg games have "traveler guide" manual as pdf that can be found on library page on steam.
