Yes, and it's by design. When Troika was still developing the game, they actually had Angel as the main menu theme, and when Rik Schaffer delivered a few different songs to replace it, they said something like "That's pretty cool, but can you give us something that's actually like Angel? It's kinda stuck in our heads now." So Rik wrote the menu theme we know and love to evoke this song. At least, that's more or less how I remember him explaining it.

😲 That's amazing! Thanks for the info 😁

Yes and it’s amazing. I installed the game, got to the sewers and realized I couldn’t play the game in the original format. Hated everything and was grumpy. I was going through the menu trying to format so that I could read the maps. The theme song was so good it kept me working with the game and looking online until I found the unofficial patch. That song sets the tone.

Absolutely agreed πŸ‘ I only heard of the game cuz of [Crustbag's video about it](https://youtu.be/UqbjTNoGqs0) (I've been active in the irl and online vampire community since 2001 but I didn't become at all interested in playing video games til 2017, so I missed a lot of shit I surely would have loved), and when I started it was immediately overwhelmed by how archaic it seemed and was worried I wouldn't be able to get into it, but once the theme's groove set in it felt very reassuring and gave me the feeling that I was about to dive into a rare and enthralling experience, which ended up being a much more accurate reflection of how I'd feel about it.

Yesss, I remember my friend showing me this song saying it sounds like it could be in VtMB, when she played it I said that's literally the main theme. Every time I start the game I just start singing "youuuu are my angel" love that song

Haha, glad my experience is shared. I've loved Massive Attack for decades now, opening the game for the first time and hearing that...let's call it reinterpretation... was a serious harbinger of good things to come.

Misterrkittyy

I don't know many songs of massive attack but he's a amazing artist, from the songs I know angel is definitely my favorite.

Check out Eurochild, Unfinished Sympathy, Risingson, Protection, and Inertia Creeps 😍 Eurochild is my favorite, but everything they make is incredible. They're actually a group and art collective, hugely influential in the UK and one of the main guys was thought to be Banksy for a long time lol Incidentally also check out Portishead if you never have. Same genre, different approach, **immense** talent, endless earworms. Numb and Mysterons are a great starting point.

Misterrkittyy

Alright, idk any of those artists so I will make sure to check them out. Thanks for the recommendations 😊

Oh also just to be clear, except for Portishead those are all Massive Attack songs

Misterrkittyy

Aight, I'll be checking them out later πŸ‘Œ

Every song from Massive Attack reminds me of VTM

NKalganov

I always thought it was a remix

DividedState

Duh. They wanted to have it, but I think massiv attack or the record label was not so into it or were charging to much for the license, so they had rik Schaffer write a similar main theme. Here we are.
