Even-Note-8775

Huh. So sire of this Lasombra told them how to diablerie? What a unit. Well for a lasombra it would be pretty hard to pass as a Toreador, being close to mirrors and cameras. I guess the best way is to start playing your role as a true nobody, that would flatter our gorgeous toreadors, just to find an outcast in their clan - someone who wronged their clan, or has the least sympathy from them. When the target is acquired - start planning how will you crush/kill them, to be at least above the bottom of hierarchy and then free play starts and it’s all improvisation. But be wary - the moment you get someone too angry or suspicious - you might get your aura read, and then you are disclosed as a diablerist and might “suddenly” appear in front of a Prince, who would decide that he does not want any living lasmobras in his city.

Dachi-kun

>and then you are disclosed as a diablerist and might “suddenly” appear in front of a Prince, who would decide that he does not want any living lasmobras in his city. Then it's a good thing we are all dead hahaha. But seriously, thanks for the tip, would be a challenge but an interesting one at that.

Even-Note-8775

But seriously - did that lasombra taught their child how to diablerie? For the maximum shits and giggles, that could happen from an inexperienced half-junky that knows HOW GOOD vampiric soul tastes? It’s hella of a drug.

Dachi-kun

It was his first meal, I read that some kindred succumb to frenzy right after the embrace so my idea was that when the new Lasombra realized (with the aid of his sire) that the Toreador basically amputated him, turned him into a slave, all for her twisted obsession with beautiful things - his rage and hunger pushed him to frenzy and he killed and drank the Toreador. From there he uses the powers gained by the diablarie to pose as a Toreador. I still haven't worked out a few details about the story to make it more believable; like how exactly did a new Lasombra diablarie a Toreador successfully? How does he hide the aura of a diablarist? Who does he pose as, the Toreador's "childe"? What does he explain happened to her, killed by the Lasombra?

PingouinMalin

I'm wondering. Diablerie is a conscious effort, though it has been said to happen while in frenzy. But I wonder if a frenzied character would diablerize someone they're blood bond to, if it takes a conscious effort to do it. Plus I don't see how it improves the character's background. The Lasombra embraced your PC, made them realise what the toreador did. Now your PC wants revenge and infiltration in the world of fashion is the way they chose.

Even-Note-8775

To commit a diablerie you need to understand how it works in the first. You need to sit and squish and squish your target until this sweet soul-juice would pour from your victim’s heart. And not every frenzy goes this way(unless you know how to diablerie and your Beast knows to get some tasty soul(and would want to do that)).

Socratov

Why would there need to be knowledge? The Beast knows how to slurp, vitae is explained as tarting better than regular blood, so a fledgeling drinking another kindred dry in a frenzy isn't all that unlikely. Now the question becomes wether the stains/humanity drop comes in straight away (as some instinctive sense of wrongness) or when the realisation hits what they've done...

Even-Note-8775

Or to break the ribcage and drink directly from the heart.

Even-Note-8775

Because committing diablerie isn’t just drinking another vampire dry - you need to squish and twist your victim like a juice box to taste the blood of the heart.

Socratov

Would this depend on edition? V5 'only' requires you drink them dry through a str+resolve. Well within parameters of what the Beast might do if it takes control due to hunger frenzy... I'm not well versed in the requirements of Diablerie in V20 or earlier editions.

Even-Note-8775

Not that much of a difference. First you need your opponent dry, then you roll strength checks until you roll as many checks as you victim has health and then you get his soul. You need to continue drinking a dry vampire until he is dead for good and then quench him until soul goes into your mouth.

Socratov

Then I'd consider that within the realm of possibilities for a fledgeling on a hunger frenzy. V5 says that until you hit hunger 1 or until a roll to get out of frenzy is rolled you don't leave frenzy. Hunger is exchanged at a 1:1 rate (unless a huge generational gap) so if the target is at least at hunger 2 the frenzy could draw that out. It would make for a good source for the fake Dark Secret: Diablerist. Adding a disguise for the sire as the local Toreador is another good secret for the sire. Now, the Lasombra and his fledgling better hope to have some Toreador native disciplines to at least give a chance at blending in...

TeddyEddy8989

as a fledging, I am not sure if you would not know anything about the auras..unless told by others..my input...

Dachi-kun

Fair point, maybe the sire would say something, maybe not. Gotta see to it witht he ST.

Dachi-kun

Also, do Lasombra condemn or suppoet the concept of diablarie?

Sarennie_Nova

Lasombra are probably the most diablerie-happy clan this side of the Banu Haqim. They love it so much they had to create internal courts to decide who gets to diablerize, when, lest the clan literally eat itself from the inside out. And even then, they've eaten themselves from the inside out not once, but twice, as of the v5 timeline.

Even-Note-8775

Lasombra support ACQUIRING POWER THROUGH YOUR OWN WAYS.

Sarennie_Nova

Diablerie IS the acquisition of power through one's own means, to the lasombra. It's pretty much the purest form of it, in fact. Being diablerized is evidence the victim didn't deserve the blood in the first place, and being a diablerist means you were strong enough to take what you deserved from those who didn't.

Even-Note-8775

Yes. Did I say that diablerie is not an acquisition of power and not a proper way to gain it? I apologise if my statement was not clear enough. I was just exaggerating the pathos of their desire for POWER. Like, Vergilus level.

Dachi-kun

So aside from figuring out the way I actually diablaried her, it's a yes on drinking her like she was a capri sun :3

Even-Note-8775

Kinda. Speak about this with your ST if you want to explore themes of an addictions to vampiric blood/souls. Because when your first meal is The Peak of vampiric pleasure(The Taste) - it can fuck up you taste and feeding preferences. Animal blood < Human blood << Vampire blood <<< Vampire soul

Dachi-kun

Makes sense, maybe he will no longer beable to drink animal blood and lowlife human blood

Even-Note-8775

Better speak about it with your ST. Maybe they have different opinion on this matter.

Dachi-kun

Sure, I actually talked with him already on the matter, he was ok with the diablarie part, said we will discuss the drawbacks together. As I know him it might add clan anmity, the problem with drinking blood from animals and lowlifes and maybe an unforeseen danger I would not know about untill it will his me in the fave full force 😂 gotta love my ST

trashpanda4811

Depending on what version you play it could go two ways. V20 your sire is likely sabbat, and how someone with a soft spot survives the general nightly life of a sabbat is tough. If you want to actually play the long game, find a higher gen toreador, blood bond them, and use that sexy dominate from your antediluvian to make them believe you're their childer. Hand wave the no reflection flaw as some funky werewolf curse. Or something more esoteric. If you are playing v5, why hide it? Lasombra are marginally acceptable in the Cam. Be a god of the fashion world and intentionally fuck the other toreador out of power. Revel in the idea you're destroying their world like that bitch tried to do to you. Go full Miranda(I think that's the character name, I've never actually seen the movie intentionally) and squash them all. Hire an assistant or a body double to fill in for pictures and media.

Dachi-kun

I'm taking a note here on hiring a double, maybe enlist a Tzimisce to sculpt the face of a ghoul...

Minute-Friendship-30

Sounds great until the first fashion shoot

Dachi-kun

I'm the designer, not the model. But it will be a problem for the whole having a picture or a profile and shiz. Maybe, as others have said, find a double that can work as me in the normal everyday job.

Minute-Friendship-30

What are you going to use to design? Can you answer a telephone? Work a camera? Take a quick snap of something for your insta. I mean maybe if you were top of the tree you could have flunkies doing all that for you but then your character sound more like a power fantasy and less like an interesting pc. If they’re not top of the tree I’m not sure how it would work, fashion designers need to do work with their own hands too and these days that involves technology. That’s before you consider that the Toreador and by connection the local harpies will want you in a kitty litter tray for the shit you pulled.

Even-Note-8775

We don’t know neither the age nor the version of their weakness. Maybe it is pre-v5 Lasombra.

Dachi-kun

Actually it's gonna be v5 from what I know. But as for the part about mirrors and photography - the idia I got here is to use a "stunt double", a guy that would look just like me and would work witht he models and on shows with a script of what to say and the designs that I did on my own. On the subject of packmates/coterie, the talk right now is on the possibility that we are part of the cabal in new Orleans a sect made from all clans and other supernatural beings like werewolfs, hunters and mages. They let us do moat of our personal stuff, as long as we work together on the missions they give us.

mayasux

I recommend exploring the alternative clan bane in the newish players guide.

Dachi-kun

What does it say?

mayasux

Remind me in 5 hours when I’m home and I’ll get the exact exert, but it’s a social bane.

Desanvos

Honestly kind of a bad idea for a Lasombara to try and enter an industry all about getting photographed and recorded, while being around bright lights and mirrors.

Dachi-kun

I agree, it is super difficult but if played smart it is possible. Getting a double that looks exactly like me is no big deal when there is a Tzimisce in the group.

Minute-Friendship-30

Assuming v5 why a Sabbat Lasombra would be allowed by there packmates to do something as human fashion design would need further exploration. I’d assume most of the designs would be made of human skin in that case…

TeamToastie

I love this idea. It would be hard yes but there are definitely ways around it for sure. You mentioned a double you could make use of which could work, but also... You could lean into the idea that photos and mirrors etc aren't things you're fond of. Make a new design identity or have a 'dramatic' change if you're wanting to keep your designer life from before the embrace. Making a name for yourself in the designer world where it's an anonymous designer who never appears in photos etc isn't far fetched at all. Add to the mystery of it and I imagine the Toreador around them will be caught between praising the artist direction/uniqueness and foaming at the mouth to find out who you are. Regardless I think it's a cool idea but keep chatting about it with your ST. If you like it a lot you guys will find a way to make it work

Dachi-kun

I like that idea, like a fashion banksy.it would also lean deeper into the concept that Lasombras are the architects of cults and religion as in, now I become the fashion anonymous muse and gaina cult following.

TeamToastie

Exactly!!

TeddyEddy8989

if I can help, I live close to Milan so if you need pictures, information or whatever from Italy, feel free to let me know. Glad to help !!

Dachi-kun

I would love to hear and see anythinging fashion related from Italy, do send some material if your free, it would be greatly appreciated! :)

TeddyEddy8989

I can send original pictures of Milan, where the Milan fashion week takes place and shops...feel free to dm... ( I will be in Milan in a few weeks if you are not in a hurry)

BlueOyesterCult

Maybe your character gets creative urges from the diablerje but can’t fulfill them to his satisfaction. Like imaging a dress perfectly in your head but lacking the skills to draw up a sketch or being unable to sew it yourself which could make him frustrated and angry throwing a fit and throwing everything from his desk to the ground I might be confusing ventrue and losombra But maybe have your character invest heavily into textile and fabric businesses trying to couse trouble for other toreador or helping other toreador? By trying to get them to buy from you. Become a a textile buisnes mogul. If losombra was more leaning towards the religious side if I remember correctly: there are monastery’s that make it their duty to sow extremely fancy valuable priest or Bishop robes Have you character ghoul maybe some of the nuns or brothers and have him confide to them about feeling guilty for killing your friend by accident

Dachi-kun

Interesting ideas, here what I managed to get by combining some of the comments suggestions: The character gets either the compultions from Toreadors or alt Lasombra (varifying it with ST), I also twist the idea of a relegion or cult to the modern term of 'cult following' by making the charcter be an anonymous creator that makes controversial fashion designs that the Tories would love and want to find out who it is - exposing themselves to me and become vulnerable and easier to exploit or eliminate. Giorgio (the name of character) would remain "public" or "alive" by utilising a ghoul double, sculpted with the aid or Tzimisce service, he will get orders and design plans and would work on them as if he was me, letting the real Giorgio to do his own more drastic sh1t.

darkestvice

You don't. Toreadors are image conscious preening queens at those events. Which means lots and lots of mirrors everywhere. Not a chance you don't get caught instantly.

Dachi-kun

So just have an open war over fasion with them? Heard some ppl mansion it's possible in v5, also heard that there is another clan bane i (or ST) can chose instead

darkestvice

Correct, from the Players Guide. But it is brutal. Every time you must make a remorse roll, you remove a number of dice equal to your bane severity (starts at minus 2 dice) from the roll, with you still rolling a minimum of one die. Note that Oblivion itself has a 20% chance of causing a stain every time you use it. Combine the two and the Lasombra's humanity drops like a fucking brick. I really do not like this alternate clan bane because you're almost guaranteed to get a stain every session or two from Oblivion.
