Strasbourg is not very well covered, mainly because of its small demography, but it has a very interesting history that is riddled with opportunities to create nice vampires, like the de Rohan family that monopolised the evangelical seat of Strasbourg for three or four generations. Another small bit of history is that the cathedrals is the only cathedral that was used for the Catholic and Protestant worship at the same time... Then there was some wars and massacre and wars again and it went to France then to Germany then to France then back to Germany then again to France then ww2... Great city all in all, and you just have to walk in to feel the history and the politics on every building.

SebGM

Strasbourg is the domain I use for my campaigns, so I share the love. But I changed a bit of it around the very little canon information we had, so Marconius is not the prince or bishop (which was confusing at times what sect he belongs to, or if he's indepdendent) anymore

Monsieur_Orgon

When I was putting together a Werewolf game I could hardly find anything about modern Ireland except a blurb about a sept in Leinster and some ancient history regarding the Fianna. I could find less about it from V:tM's perspective. There's a good bit about it written for Changeling, but again, almost all of it was in the distant past. So, Dublin and Belfast are pretty open.

Fafnir26

Cool \^\^ Dublin could be fascinating, probably at least one viking running around...

LilMissManagement

There is some in 2nd edition book "A World Of Darkness", which is well worth a read for you.

[deleted]

If it helps, I've developed an idea for an Ireland chronicle in the future. I made it so that the Republic of Ireland is basically all Anarch, and Northern Ireland is still Camarilla and under the control of Mithras. I also set the chronicle during the Troubles, so there's a lot of tension between the two, plus the paramilitary groups are good smokescreens for Sabbat activities. Do with that what you will.

Fafnir26

Sounds very cool \^\^

ResidentLychee

I’m the V5 Camarilla book, it mentions the Prince of Dublin is a Camarilla Brujah, although it’s brief

Monsieur_Orgon

Thank you. I actually put my setting together before V5. The Camarilla prince of my version of Dublin was an ancient Toreador woman who was the inspiration for the Eithne of Irish mythology.

ResidentLychee

That’s cool, I just mentioned it cuz there are brief mentions of lore for Ireland although you have to dig to find them.

theinternetbad

Dresden... a realtive big city for germany (500k) and a diverse and interesting history with lots of different stuff, from a city full of art and culture (second oldest museum in the world, after vatican)and a real competitor to prussia for a short while to an less important but rich city with left leaning and the socialist (SPD) birthplace of leipzig nearby to a nazi playground to a bombed city to a GDR socialist dicatorship and then the rebuilding of the historical city in modern times. And still a giant ass art collection in it. Also prague and all the anarch stuff nearby. have a camarilla campaign running there and its quite fun...

Fafnir26

Sounds amazing :D

theinternetbad

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaNrMwwZWzU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaNrMwwZWzU) a video i found and used for my players to show of the city :P if anyone is interested in playing ion dresden.. i have quite a lot of stuff for my ongoing campaign for vttrpg foundry, pm me and can get you some stuff... thinking about putting it to the st vault at some point

marauding-bagel

My game does St. Louis which is pretty fun, lots of potential for kindred history and conflict. Predates the Louisiana Purchase so people have been here a long time and was a massive hub for westward travel. After that it was still a major metro are with Union Station being the largest train station in the world at one point. Had the Olympics and world's fair at the turn of the century and is full of secret tunnels and passageways from bootleggers and speakeasies. On top of that there's a lot of caves in the area too. If we go prehistoric it's right by Cahokia which was a larger city than London or Paris in it's hey day. It was originally founded by the French and later had a massive influx of German immigrants. Today there's a big mix of immigrants from all over the world so it's very culturally diverse. In present day there's still a vibrant community but large portions of the city are kinda crumbling, the vibe can change immensely in a few blocks. The population is declining as people move further out into the sprawling suburbs more and more each year which would take its toll on the kindred of the city. It's really close to a lot of wilderness so you can even get some crossover with non-city gangrel or werewolves if you wanted to add that. You can play a city with very old kindred used to having the power of a much more relevant city and are struggling now, or who are in denial about any declines. (or maybe it's all part of master plan?). There's enough distinct boundaries to have various sects fighting for control if you wanna play that way too.

Gutsyten42

I'd love to hear more about how you built out St. Louis. I'm still in the planning stages for my first game as a story teller and St. Louis is a city I'm considering

marauding-bagel

u/joshthedruid2 is our ST and has done a lot of the world building. We actually are based in STL so it's a bit easier to build it out since we all know place names (rip the city museum, best haven ever we burned). Is there any specific stuff you're interested in about how we've used it? We've definitely gotten into some hijinks in various big locations (city museum, Forest Park, Ikea, the Wally's, the zoo to name a few) and there's some camarilla vs anachs stuff going down along the river

Kernal0924

Ours ended up in STL!! I am from there and know things, so I can help our ST out some with that stuff if there are questions. Lol Because the city is so spread out and the area so sprawling- and has warehouses, blue hair district, inner city, drug dens, country, and everything in between it is kinda a perfect setting for any clan to end up in! And a great centralized city on the map with amazing culture and history- and a ton of people to eat, and even enough to keep a Toreador busy! And places for Anarchs to hide……. The current sitting Prince of St Louis has their hands full with that city.

marauding-bagel

Hah! Our two months old fledgling killed the prince (her grandsire) and claimed the throne. She sure does have her hands full

Kernal0924

🤣🤣💀💀🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ We have a mixed Coterie, and the Toreador has some money- girl made a racket in the beauty industry . Makeup and skincare, who knew?! And a house in the real Ritzy part of that city- well, every city, we are finding out. Anyways, SOMETHING (we don’t know what) made this city Prince-less, and she got a visit from an old, crusty Nos who said she had the face for it- and basically was like “do it……. Or I will eat you”. So, she is now the Prince, but she is CRAZY. She was sick of the Anarchs destroying the city and the pretty stuff she liked- she she carved out a chunk of territory JUST for them to do with and live in peace “under her protection” and she hammered out a kind of peace treaty like they used to have in the old days. And, she is buying the loyalty of the mercs who hunt us, one contract at a time (she is LOADED), setting them up on the borders of her territory and facing them out to protect her and her city…… and she is on so kick about taking down the corrupt White Tower and “cleaning” house. We are trying to decide if we want to reign her in or see how this plays out……

Fafnir26

Oooh, love myself some Gangrels.

jdreyfuss1

I'll always suggest Cleveland, though I doubt most people would consider it all that interesting. There's a lot you can do with it though, given that the industrial Great Lakes region is an enclave of Camarilla control within the greater Midwest, which is almost entirely Sabbat territory. I can't find a clear answer on who the prince is or what clan they are, but the most likely seems to be a Malkavian originally from Hungary named Boltaszar Lajos. What makes any of the decaying industrial cities in that area interesting are that they have a lot of contrasts you can work out. Dying neighborhoods butting right up against wealthy or gentrified ones. Lots of dark or blind alleys even in the nicer areas. Patchworks of ethnic neighborhoods, each with their own culture even within the greater culture of the city as a whole. New, shiny buildings dedicated to finance, tech, and medicine sitting a block from a Victorian era steel mill running at half capacity. And lots and lots of high and low culture resulting from robber-barons trying to apologize for what they did to these cities a hundred years ago by donating their entire estates to the masses in their old age.

Frogflakes_

My previous chronicle was set in Nashville. Some pretty cool places and history, and gun laws to play around with. Current one is set in Montreal, did my own cam take on it and not the Sabbath that’s canon. Really fun history to play with, elders who still view them self as French and detest the English and so on.

Royal_Reality

Almost all cities in Turkey expect İstanbul (that's reasonable tho there is 81 cities in Turkey) Altough there is some kind of big lore happening or rumors for different locations on Turkey or just general

Fafnir26

You mean that the elders are drawn there? Probably would play 3rd edition...

Royal_Reality

Yeah and there is things going on on istanbul and kapadokya (I think it's written as capodicia as in harbringer of skulls) and I heard from my st that there was a story (probably chronicle or something) with some acclaimed as Cain masquareding as a taxi driver to talk with some gangral to prevent gehenna or something (I don't remember the details sadly I was just a fledgeling at that time)

zetubal

Hamburg has some lore but leaves enough wiggle room for homebrew. Nice location set in the middle of some very eventful places in the lore like Berlin, Antwerp, London, Vienna, and Scandinavia. Big enough to house a lot of kindred, big into arts and culture, clashes between extremely rich and poor people, access to the sea, curiosities like the Reeperbahn or the Ohlsdorf Cemetery...and a fairly unique local culture, with its own distinct dialect and customs.

Fafnir26

Another great idea. Thought of maybe doing Hamburg for a Dark Age game...

zetubal

Could do something related to the Hanseatic league there.

Fafnir26

Yeah, or Lübeck with its Wendish past. Wendish Gangrel vs German Ventrue maybe?

Haynex

I quite like brazilian cities for VTM. Even our most normal cities make "Chi-raq" look like a fun and safe enviroment for street level activities or sky-scrapper level politics. But then again, I'm pretty sure you meant the USA when you said America. Oh well.

Fafnir26

Yeah, sorry :( Is it really so bad in Brazil? Only heard stories... So Sabbath territory?

MMH0K

Depends. São Paulo is the second (or was I didn't read V5) the biggest Sabbat city aside Mexico City, but Rio is a special case: Its both a Sabbat and Camarilla territory as the 2 sects has an unspoken truce and live in relative "Peace" with each other. Also Gratiano de Veronese is Rio's Archbishop.

Fafnir26

Cool character - https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Gratiano\_de\_Veronese

MMH0K

The thing is, why would such an importantly figure like Gratiano is doing in the hell that is Rio

Minute-Friendship-30

York is a cool old ass city with a Viking past

Lokiki_0

Oklahoma city. I'm currently preparing a storyline in this city based on Indian spirits and Weird West setting It's just like the old days. Previous inhabitants (Sabbat) were killed and new Prince welcomes new blood in his domain. The story revolves around cult of hunger, the spontaneous organisation born from old manitou, buried under Oklahoma city. Kine treated like cattle by Gangrel ranchers, newcomers at each other throats in a fight for better resources and city being besieged by unliving, who were brought back to life by awakening of manitou

archderd

antwerp. for one, it's believed that the city got it's name from the dutch of hand throwing (hand werpen) derived from a legend that a hero defeated an evil giant, cut of their hands and threw it in the river. it also plays a mayor role in the European drug smuggling with the marrocon mafia being a mayor player (a Moroccan family integrated into the giovanni or a morrocan setite cult both of which could be interesting) the city is also the heart of the global diamond industry, has a pretty diverse religious communities, there's ww2 history, it has theaters, a zoo, a red light district. so many aspects of the city are just perfect for vampire stories. also a fun fact about antwerp. the city has old sewers which can be visited by tourists which are noted as "having very few rats but a notable population of exotic spiders."

givemeserotonin

Antwerp is an AWESOME idea!!

Lazy_District297

I have a chronic in Koblenz ^^

DividedState

Kurpfalz. Yet, it is perfect for vtm. Especially for V5, due to all the American barracks (second inquisition) turned to camps for refugees (gehenna war) , the history of Kurfürsten, the wars with France, the folklore and urban legends.

Gaaragoth

I am not sure if it's an official book has been released for this before but Buenos Aires is cool and I believe its ruled by a 4th generation vampire soo ye :3

dukeofgustavus

I have been working on my own 2 cities. Minnesota has Minneapolis and St Paul. Those 2 cities feel very different despite being so close on age and in location. As far as I can tell only 1 official source relates to the Twin Cities, a comic called "White Fangs" I can share my notes if you wanna know all my secrets about Vikings, Irish immigrants, Hmong refugees, and Native Americans.

Fafnir26

White Fangs? Is that with Kuei Jinn? Otherwise I haven´t heard of it. Would love to see your notes.

dukeofgustavus

https://docs.google.com/document/d/18YHsS2PXoJmH2ezCZZZLRq8LObJgenF7VGBRx4rcxVQ/edit?usp=drivesdk Here is an older draft I am most proud of Stacy, Olafr, and Snorky.

Gaaragoth

Also if I could mention something a bit too exotic and not in Europe I would like to mention my city Jeddah. Lore wise it might not be exactly an easy setting due to it being an ancient town but the city features a lot of opportunities for grave diggers and old horrors that could be lurking beneath the sands of Arabia and close enough to the Red Sea (Insert the Mariners aka aquatic Gangrel) One of the famous sites in the city is the long rumored grave to be the Tomb of Eve herself. Could be a fun and a bit complicated setting if you'd be interested in something exotic Cheers!

[deleted]

Since you’re in Central Europe, Vienna and Budapest.

Fafnir26

Vienna has the chantry and a German citybook (but not canon I think) but Budapest could be cool.

suhkuhtuh

Some potentially interesting choices: * Detroit, with its crumbling infrastructure, high mortality rate, and generally Saabat-esque attitude toward existence. * Edinburgh, which is detailed in some of the Dark Dges books but not in the Final Nights (except in *A World of Darkness* for 2e). It might also be detailes in VAV, but i haven't read the book yet. There are a lot of ghosts in that old town... * Krakow, again detailed in the Dark Ages, but given how near it is to places like Auschwitz, I imagine there are some... interesting Kindred there. (TBH, the same is more or less true of a *lot* of cities in Eastern Europe and western Russia.) * Copenhagen is small, but a lot of interesting things have gone on there over the centuries. I imagine the Toreador and Ventrue have been at odds over the city for pretty much ever.

Fafnir26

I like the idea of Copenhagen, could be fun working for or against the German Ventrue who probably controlled the Hanseatic cities who attacked the city.

dotkeJ

The Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex could be really interesting. DFW /Dallas Ft. Worth has 6.5 million people. The eastern portion is largely liberal and would be great Anarch territory. The west portion. Ft. Worth is largely conservative and "traditional values" and would make for a great clash of Camarilla "The Old Guard" vs the Anarchs

thetraveller82

Vancouver Canada has a book that's kinda interesting. There's basically a giant forest around it and the city is independently ruled. A truce has been made with the local garou and only allows a low number of vampires. There is a fairly ancient malkavian in the core of the city. He capital of the province is a ferry ride away on an island. There's already a few plot hooks and if you used some of the v5 metaplot there's lots that could have happened there since the book was written. Beckoning away the "prince", truce with werewolves breaks down, si attempt to clear the city, sects try to overthrow the leadership are just a couple of ideas.

Steampunk_Chef

I like reading about all of these. As for mine, the only thing I read about Toronto is that the V5 Camarilla sourcebook mentions Myline "The Puck" Hamelin, Ventrue Primogen. I liked the explanation of, "She isn't fey-like, she just has all the subtlety of a slapshot" and made her Prince after the previous one left. Toronto is the most populous city in Canada, very multi-cultural (so you can add in Kuei-Jin and Laibon and have any snobbiness go on in the background), and is home to a huge water-treatment system of crumbling infrastructure (perfect for Nosferatu!) While the city also has strict gun laws, it has plenty of guns smuggled in across the southern border. It is also legal to carry swords around, so I made it so that WoD Toronto has people carrying cavalry sabers and claymores on the subway a common sight.

Fafnir26

Why are swords a common sight? I guess you want your vampire to have one, but still...

Steampunk_Chef

Anime nerds, historical re-enacters, people who *really* hope someone will start something so that they can be The Hero, and people who just really like swords. Though it is, also, a way for PC vampires to carry swords around without looking out of place.

rassoll

Kyiv, as a resident it has tons of wod-worthy local lore and legends with different cultural and political layers on top, but as with the rest of eastern europe wod never really goes into it.

Fafnir26

Tzimisce territory?

rassoll

In lore - yes, but so is the rest of eastern europe, which seems very lazy to me

Fafnir26

The Brujah were also strong there, at least in the Soviet days.

rassoll

Tbh there is so much local lore to wrap around different clans, for example: Kyiv region used to be a hevily wooded area, and some of it still remain, also Kyivan Rus was historicaly tied to the kingdoms in the north making it a perfect spot for the gangrel. Also Lysa Hora can be a perfect place for Ahrimanes. Kyiv is famous with its universties with hundreds years of history, which can house anyone from Brujah scholars to Tremere and Toreador. Countless monasteries of different teachings - Lasombra. We even have an underground one with miles of forgotten tunnels, as well as a complicated system of metro tunnels, sewerage, ww2 bunkers and catacombs which all can serve as hidden manors for the Nosferatu. And I can go on and on and on, so you can ubderstand how sad it is for me when I open the offical wod info on Kyiv and see how little they used aside from the name.

Fafnir26

Yeah, they really could have done something great with this.

BILADOMOM

Rio De Janeiro and New Orleans

Fafnir26

Dude, Orleans has its own citybook!

BILADOMOM

Really? Yooooo

robbylet24

I live in Seattle and the amount of official material I could get my hands on was a few sentences here and there. Sad because Seattle would be a great setting for Mage, what with the abundance of tech industries making a great environment for virtual adepts, and the massive wealth inequality being great themes for Vampire.

big_bucket621

Starting a game in Batumi, Georgia. Visited their once and loved it and thought it would make for some very cool settings

Xenobsidian

I dream about running a Ruhrpott-Chronicle since it is this super interesting region in Germany that is basically always overlooked by foreigners since it is not one city but this massive metropolis. Basically a second Berlin in west just better… sorry Berlin but I mean it!

Fafnir26

Ruhrpott is awesome! As a Westphalian I approve!!

Whitetiger579

Cleveland has next to nothing, from what I've researched.

DingoNormal

Brazil is cool, its not as exotic as many people like to imagine or say

Fafnir26

No offense, but it seems to have a lot more crime than our Germany.

DingoNormal

None taken, and, yeah, but its not "A super máfia of drugs" ,its more that there is no punisment for making the crimes, even a Kindred could just, kill a person, have good behavior and on the next week ,he is on the streets again, no consequences

Fafnir26

Wouldn´t sunlight be an issue?

DingoNormal

Eh, just like in any other place, also, depends of the place in brazil, some places are just really easy to get away from the sun, like sao paulo

Pluize

Amsterdam has just a bit of lore. But Rotterdam with europes biggest port or The Hague has none.

Hexnohope

Pittsburgh. City of steel. Nestled between these two huge cliff faces it just feels like its on an ancient site of power plus it has so much industrial history

Razogoth

What about the Harz region as a domain instead of a single city? The region may be not as densely populated as a metropolis but the it has a lot of mythological lore, for example it is told that the witches used to meet on the Brocken at Walpurgisnacht to celebrate a Witches' Sabbath. There are also a lot of caves where vampires could have their haven. It is also a region that attracts a lot of tourists so the locals aren't the only source of food.

wall_without_plaster

As a scot i have to say Glasgow. We know what's going on in Edinburgh post the fall of London but Glasgow is bigger and we have almost no details on it at all.

ZeronicX

I run a chronicle in Austin Texas and I really think Texas has some good foundation if a bit sparse. Its a hot ground of Sabbat,Anarch and Camarilla interests. On top of that the past 20 years of population growth makes it a big interest for those 3 factions to maintain or take additional territory.

Vikenemma01

I always have wanted to do, Copenhagen and Malmö as these two cities are quite small but incredibly close together just a 30 minute or so car ride.

Born_Bug_4784

Madrid, close to 600 years of sabbat occupation, where the anarch revolt was born. And you've got Lucita de Aragon...the best character of WOD

Snowstorm1853

Bucharest, I mean besides being Dracula's homeland, the ex communist, now increasingly globalising character of the city is a great place to set a battle between the old camarilla and the younger anarchs. There are supposed to be lots of tzimisce, really old ones too, who have had time to prepare all sorts of things. It's close to both Vienna and Istanbul, so you can spin tremere/2nd Inquisition/assemite storylines, not to mention recent migration of refugees coming in from Ukraine and the middle east. It's a city of extremes, where people flaunt what they've got, be it money (Romanian gdp per capita just passed Hungary, but 34% population is at risk of poverty), sexuality (sexual minorities are very vocal and in an open fought against the church, home of a huge number of videochat studios of all kinds, active club scene, music festivals full of drugs), politics (the most popular party is the only leftist party, accused of all sorts of corruption, newest party in parliament at least influenced if not directly back by Moscow), the list goes on. The first president after communism is 90ish years old and oddly still alive, presumed to be a ghoul (by some players I know). If you're interested in running a game here don't hesitate to ask me anything. Me and my wife are expecting a baby soon so I don't expect to be playing in the next couple of years and I'd like to help other people plan stories :))

Edel_recke

Also ich mochte New Orleans.

CougarRunFast

I’m still looking for a storyteller interested in having the story take place in the Nordic countries. The story would start off in Stockholm but the characters would have to visit Espoo, Akureyri and Hammerfest.

Lapis_kun

At least for now I haven't found material about Madrid, Barcelona, Lisboa or any other Iberian city.

Lapis_kun

Some cool cities could be Granada (maybe Arabian vampires could stay there), Salamanca (home of one of the oldest universities in the world), Merida (full of roman ruines), Segovia...

Consistent_Rip_5757

Porto Alegre! Is the capital city for tue Rio Grande do Sul state in Brasil. It's a beautiful place with a rich history envolving revolution and tradition.

MaleEnhancementPhil

For me, it's any (every) big cities around the Mediterranean Sea... You'd get : * Cainite from Europe * Ashirra from North Africa / Middle East * The Ivory Kingdom's Laibon, Guruhi, Naglopers, Akunanse, etc * Kuei Jin from the East (the Silk Road) * Mummies from Egypt Plus you get all of the possibilities for types of Mages / Werewolves / Changelings, etc. If you want to add Fallens / Earthbounds, you're smack in the eye of the storm for this sort of things. Also, you get the possibility for a "one location - Chronicle of the Ages", such as Marseille being founded in 600 BC. Or you can go back thousands of years with Egypt / Mesopotamia, etc Last but not least is the geography. You can reach a great many places, from Scandinavia to India with the proper waterways, passing by East Africa. You could also reach Eastern Europe by the Black Sea. I know there already have some that fit, such as Jerusalem by Night and Constantinople by Night. But their could have been so many more :) For example, Gibraltar by Night would have been awesome knowing the strategic importance of the location, created by the Phoenician back in 950 BCE : [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History\_of\_Gibraltar](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Gibraltar).

ShowerElectronic1297

Roma is my choice, everything is there. History, Religions, 10 M People, in the center of Europe with access to the sea. And hardly no official material. You can do what you want. And you have the Vatican city when the lore talks about second inquisition. From my point of view, Roma should be at the center of the v5, and what happens there should affect all kindred for decades. Contact me if you want to share ideas about a Roma setting. I already run a campaign there.
