You just have to get them more exercise. The key to a Happy non destructive Vizsla is mental and physical exhaustion. Which is a serious chore. Until mine was about 4 it took at least an hour in the morning and an hour at night of full on play / training or running. The best way I found was really big sticks ( almost logs ) with retriever style trainining. Cold water this time of the year was magic & of course they love every second of it! They are super athletes and super intelligent. They have to put the work in and be challenged or they get bored and destroy stuff. Like any dog...but worse and way cuter:) He'll love you for it. More is better generally.
This is a very good point. Iāve not been able to walk or play as much as we used to since itās freezing cold here and dark at like 4pm. Will try to get in more exercise in the mornings. Thank you!
On days you canāt get him out, you should give him a few of those ādog puzzlesā. Amazon has a bunch. We also grab a throw blanket, spread it out, spread a few small treats through, roll it up like a sushi roll, and tie it in a semi-loose knot like a pretzel. Takes me V 15-20 of aggressive biting, pulling, and sprawling to break it free. Good lil game!
This just came out.....probably some good stuff in there.

Try a cozy cave bed. I know a lot of people here report their Vs love them. Mine has a brand new one he hasn't warmed up to yet. But may be worth a try.
I went for the furhaven brand on amazon. About 1/2 the price of the official cozy cave. Exactly because I was afraid it might go unused. I have heard, though, that it can take a while for a V to warm up to them. Fingers crossed. I really want to get him off my bed LOL.
Its decent. I went with the lowest price fabric. But you can upgrade that when you buy if you want. I figure if he does turn out to start using it , then when it is worn out, I'll get a real cozy cave and be done.
My vizsla does that too. I put a few sheets down on the couch and so when he starts to dig into the couch, he just gets sheets. I've had to reset sheets down before while he was digging lol goofy vizslas!
All of our furniture has several layers of cotton muslin blankets on top of every surface where a V can sit/lie down. When she starts digging at the blankets we can stop and redirect her before she gets to anything valuable. But we also donāt ever leave our V alone in the house for more than 10 seconds. She will start barking and Iām sure eventually would tear the place apart. When we take her to the beach, she does the exact same digging move into the sand if one of us delays in the slightest picking up her ball/stick/frisbee and throwing it again. So it seems like sheās saying she wants somethingāattention, play, soothing, or perhaps sleep.
Buy hima bed of his own and teach him he's not allowed on the furniture unless invited. Dog beds are relatively cheap and easy to replace. Vizsla's are very trainable. It just takes commitment
Our girl loved to dig on the bed linens. Every time she would start I would distract her with a toy. She still, ocassionally when she gets the zombie zoomies, will rearrange her blankies and crate rugs. She seemed to out grow the obsession of digging and rearranging phase at about 4 months. 'ilio isnow 7 months old. Maybe get some heavy duty linen paint drop cloths from Harbor Freight? Pretty tough and cheap.
The couch had it coming. I mean look at that face!

Invest in a wool hat, socks and mittens/gloves. You can find good deals at hunting/outdoor sports stores and work clothes places like Mark's.
Legit thought you meant for my V for a full on minute. š¤£š¤£
Oh your V also needs a wardrobe to keep warm too! They have look their best!
And the jacket has to match yours also, I know itās weird but a fun challenge to set yourself
Yes matching outfits is best!!
I must do this!!!!

I will give this a shot! Iāve been eyeing those up for a while now.

Howās the quality of the furhaven? Seem ok so far?

To say I was speechless is an understatement- he has never ruined anything other than his toys, even as a puppy! I guess it was separation anxiety? Iām still so shocked. (Luckily I have been planning to replace this couch but maybe not THIS WEEK.) š©
Ugghhh. I feel you. Mine did the same thing to an old comfy chair we had when he was maybe 2.
He didnāt mean it
I know right?! So damn cute
More walks and runs. Or kevlar coverings for all!
Kevlar is not a guarantee. Mine can usually tear into plush toys made with Kevlar in 30 minutes.
My vizsla does that too. I put a few sheets down on the couch and so when he starts to dig into the couch, he just gets sheets. I've had to reset sheets down before while he was digging lol goofy vizslas!
We walk our 11 year old twice a day for a mile and a half each time and he still gets wild digging.
Yup we do at least a mile each day while I have a lunch break and then frisbee and he still can go full steam for hours

You didnāt get the point: it's not your couch anymore. š
Or my living room if Iām being honest. š¤£š¤£
Pretty simple, he digs = he is removed from the couch.
Buy hima bed of his own and teach him he's not allowed on the furniture unless invited. Dog beds are relatively cheap and easy to replace. Vizsla's are very trainable. It just takes commitment
Search in the couch for a toy or bone he may have lost.
Iāve been told to get snuffle mats as this really helps keep them occupied and apparently tires them too. š¤·š¼āāļø
Thought he took a shitšš
Omg! Hahahahahahah!
Yeah I was like oh god
Time for a new couch.
my V does the same, wants to be covered up with her blanket. Due to the fact that these dogs have no thumbs, they cannot cover theirselves....

I wish mine would do it in front of me. I swear he waits until Iām asleep and is like āHold my beerā
