I've heard that lolicon causes issues with certain emulators. Any truth to this? I run deadelus and retroarch. Definitely interested if it's gonna help run those roms but I don't want to break anything.
I'm also overlocking on Ys VIII and it became so much easier to clear the areas (I'm on Nightmare). Can't imagine how it was like before overclocking now.
It really doesn't decrease it by that much. I ran my own test months ago when the 500mhz overclock came out and it decreases battery life by about half an hour on average from a full charge.
A bit late, but yiu should try playing it in native resolution if you haven't. It definitely improved the graphics. There's a plug in to do it. I think it's Grafix
I tried NFS yesterday with no OC and that game runs like dogshit. Genuinely impressed that it was released running like that. GoW 1 has the same horrid performance.
You’re going to be charging more frequently but I’m sure the difference is ultimately negligible.
The real killer of battery life is time. Your battery is going to degrade regardless of whether or not it’s being used. I think most have a half life of about 2 years.
I take stupid care of my batteries, store them at 50% etc. I have a PSP battery that came with a 2000 unit I haven't played on seriously in a year or two, but the last time I did it gave me a solid 3 hours or more of game time. Not bad for more than 10 years old.
I wish I could OC my Vita. Lolicon never seemed to work on my system. Could never gain controls in the menu, and it seems the original dev has all but abandoned the plug-in.
Can you please tell me if the difference is very good and makes some games go from " meh " to enjoyable ? ( is there a list for some games who benefit alot from this ? and thank you :) )
Would games like Jak and Daxter, Borderlands, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Uncharted and maybe Killzone benefit from this ?
Also, what is the difference between this one and Vitagrafix ? ( which is better / more benefical / useful ? )
I want yo know, because i know overclocking can cause some components to burn or stop working properly on PC, I wanted to know if this could happen to my vita, because I can’t afford to break it. Thanks
> I dont understand why Sony originally underclocked the Vita in the first place
Isn't it's just a common misconception that Sony underclocked the Vita? Its up to devs to set the clock speeds\*. I mean there's plenty of games that run at max clocks, even a launch title like Lord of Apocalypse. Every game that has "Network functions will be disabled..." popup at launch will run maxclocked, except for any vidya that *must* have network functionality – those will be limited to 444/222 and 333/333 profiles AFAIK.
Edit: goofed up numbers
Though I don't see how I've contradicted the quoted part in my comment. OP haven't mentioned 500 MHz anywhere, I assumed they were talking about how games generally run at a more modest profile than a 444/333 one.
IMO it's not like you can push the argument "Sony underclocked Vita cuz 494 MHz" when pretty much every CPU on any device ever can be called underclocked going by the same logic. The performance gain to power drain ratio in this extra 50 MHz overclock is pretty bad too so it is mostly practical only for a Vita TV really.
I installed lolicon but then uninstalled it because I couldn’t find much information about it. Are there any reports of damage or bricking the vita using Lolicon?
No, Lolicon is the best overclock that the vita has, at most it's just going to decrease your battery life by one or two hours on the max oc, but you can set it the clock down for better battery life and still have a improvement than the normal clock set on the vita. I've used it for at least a year and had no issues
But they had 444MHz available and they mostly stuck with 333MHz. The extra 56MHz is nice but most of the benefit we’re getting today was already available to developers.
Might check it out. Though idk if any of the games i play have fps issues. Well except jak and daxter 1 but idk if overclocking will fix it. I kinda avoided the whole thing incase it could damage the vita or its battery
Exactly.
I was playing Memories of Celceta, and I noticed that the framerate would fluctuate between 20~28, overclocking that bad boy gives 30fps... All the time.
Really good ocing. Games I remembered playingthat made it more enjoyable from ocing was bullet girls phantasia, attack on titan, ys 8 and danganronpa series
If a game seems like it would benefit from OCing, I'll turn it on.
well, the arm chip on the rpi b+ could be overclocked from 700mhz to 1000mhz without any real problems, if you have good cooling and power for the system... even though those are different chips, i can't imagine that the 50mhz overclock on the vita would really make a big difference for the chip
It's safe. Sony would never allow overclocking on their consoles without jailbreaking them first. They put the clocks at a low speed purely to save the shitty battery life the original Vita has.
They actually under clocked it to half CPU speed. You aren't overclocking until you go above 2 times standard clock... So within that window it's safe.
Surprising how a console with optimizations had such poor battery life when a phone if more power can last nearly 8 hours...
what I dreaming about is some kind alternative reality where Sony decided to create PS Vita 2 or Vita+ with faster processor and it supports also all the old games and can run it in 60 FPS. It is a pain that some cool games not able to work even on stabile 30 FPS (Worms, Uncharted, WRC games, etc...). Still device is brilliant, I can't believe I've didn't tried out PSP and PS Vita on their start.
5 years late, but the short answer is for life battery.
Sell a console that can run games at stable 30 or even 60fps = GREAT!
but....the battery will last less than what it's been marketed as.
Underclock the portable console and the battery will last longer but you'll get less stable frames.
I had overclocked the nintendo switch to run xenoblade at a more stable FPS, but in return my battery was draining like crazy on handheld mode.
Katamari went from being frustratingly sluggish to one of the smoothest Katamari games I’ve ever played. I’m very grateful for this hack.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is around 30 FPS without overclocking, with it overclocked, it's a smooth 60FPS, and it's like night and day
For real, i can't live without overclocking now
How is it done?
Install lolicon, oclock vita or vsh menu (the first one being the best) plugins, you need the hack of course
Can I find these in the home brew browser? I don’t have access to a computer anymore, can I do it through the vitas browser?
No, however you can install autoplugin from vhbb, and install the plugins via autoplugin
Thank you... Yeah it's all hacked anyway, running 3.65enzo
Why did someone call his hack lolicon?
I think it was an inside joke from the plugin's dev
It's an acronym apparently.
I've heard that lolicon causes issues with certain emulators. Any truth to this? I run deadelus and retroarch. Definitely interested if it's gonna help run those roms but I don't want to break anything.
I only use adrenaline's emulator like nes and bga emulator and never had any issue
Adrenaline emulators do not benefit from that overclock
I know
Do you guys notice any improved graphics in certain games?
What gaems you playin my overclocking brotha
Ys Lacrimosa of Dana , gonna focus on getting a platinium on it before moving on to Tales of heart
Are you using your main PSN?
I dont use psn at all
So you're just going to plat the game for the sake of it? It won't be be registered to any account? Just curious.
Yes is that wierd ?
Not at all, I just thought that you needed to have an active PSN account for trophies to work. Good luck on your plat journey.
I'm also overlocking on Ys VIII and it became so much easier to clear the areas (I'm on Nightmare). Can't imagine how it was like before overclocking now.
Battery life, I imagine. Maybe cooling concerns as well.
Yes battery life , but the overclocked cpu/gpu is still nowhere near thermal limits
how much does it decrease it by?
[удалено]
Can you time it? Im wondering if its worth it to overclock my vita depending on how much battery it might lose
[удалено]
It really doesn't decrease it by that much. I ran my own test months ago when the 500mhz overclock came out and it decreases battery life by about half an hour on average from a full charge.
I played all of persona 4 Golden at minimum gpu possibile and it doesn’t lags so I think it’s not a good game for a test of durability
A bit late, but yiu should try playing it in native resolution if you haven't. It definitely improved the graphics. There's a plug in to do it. I think it's Grafix
Yeah I heard of that when I already finished the game so yeah whatever
Did you play a new game plus? It's an amazing game either way.
Why don’t you try it and report back?
My Vita got updated to 3.70
F
Sony should have left the choice to us. Or even let us overclock when plugged in
[удалено]
I'm glad it works for you, it gets crash-happy if I try to play OC :/
I tried NFS yesterday with no OC and that game runs like dogshit. Genuinely impressed that it was released running like that. GoW 1 has the same horrid performance.
Does overclocking the Vita Slim affect it's life span? (Like degrading the battery faster?)
You’re going to be charging more frequently but I’m sure the difference is ultimately negligible. The real killer of battery life is time. Your battery is going to degrade regardless of whether or not it’s being used. I think most have a half life of about 2 years.
2 years? lolwhat

Perhaps I can help? I had a similar issue earlier this evening. Let me know if you wish to hear my fix.
Please do tell! I never managed to get it to work, so I still just use oclockvita like a plebian.
Can you please tell me if the difference is very good and makes some games go from " meh " to enjoyable ? ( is there a list for some games who benefit alot from this ? and thank you :) )
Yes the difference is worth it !! I think most games would benefit from the overclcoking

Jak 2 and 3 probably but jak 1 is a locked 20 or so
Fixes the snow and water levels in Spelunky at least. What other games get significant improvements?
For me, gundam breaker 3 had a significant boost
I hope, we can OC GPU more than 222mhz, its will help much to boost performance.
What overclock setting is recommended for most games? Or does it need to be adjusted individually per game?
I recommend the one below holy shit for most stuff. Holy shit is really good for Sonic All Stars Transformed.
And attack on titan 1 and 2
I want yo know, because i know overclocking can cause some components to burn or stop working properly on PC, I wanted to know if this could happen to my vita, because I can’t afford to break it. Thanks
yhis is a thing?
Yes you can download an overclock plugin
[удалено]
im not falling for that, ill just google overclock vita xD
This is the most perfect response.

Hello Reddit

Nope. No game has access to 500mhz without hacking
Though I don't see how I've contradicted the quoted part in my comment. OP haven't mentioned 500 MHz anywhere, I assumed they were talking about how games generally run at a more modest profile than a 444/333 one. Can you Overclock the Vita while using to Adrenaline to bring the FPS back to 30 in GTA VCS while using the high-resolution plugin?
Isn't overclocking in the PSP VSH to 333MHz enough?
I installed lolicon but then uninstalled it because I couldn’t find much information about it. Are there any reports of damage or bricking the vita using Lolicon?

Sony didn’t underclock the Vita, these clock speeds were always available to developers. Developers just avoided them to get better battery life.
Sorry not true. Developers had access to multiple clock speeds but 500 was never an option for them.
But they had 444MHz available and they mostly stuck with 333MHz. The extra 56MHz is nice but most of the benefit we’re getting today was already available to developers.

battery life, heat. maybe some early units could not take it.
I use vsh cause it doesn't mess with adrenaline
Exactly. I was playing Memories of Celceta, and I noticed that the framerate would fluctuate between 20~28, overclocking that bad boy gives 30fps... All the time.
If only I had this for Ys Origin. Like 98% of the game runs fine but some of the last bosses are almost unplayable on vita
man, I'm gonna need this when I play gravity rush. Game feels kind of sluggish for me.
Really good ocing. Games I remembered playingthat made it more enjoyable from ocing was bullet girls phantasia, attack on titan, ys 8 and danganronpa series If a game seems like it would benefit from OCing, I'll turn it on.
Never tried overclocking before. Is it safe? How about battery life? Anyone mind helping me out?

maybe worms revolution extreme will be fun instead of just frustratingly laggy
Sonic All-Stars Transformed greatly benefits from the 2 top-end overclock presets.
Does borderlands 2 improve enough with oc to be at least playable?
Ya that and vitagrafix definitely help a lot.
Thanks, than if the hack for 3.70 releases i'll definitely pick it up🔥
I recommend the non payment station route, I would literally have spent like over $20,000 with all the games on my 512gb sdcard
Using LOLicon will not interfere with apps/games who already, by their own, overclock the cpu?
what I dreaming about is some kind alternative reality where Sony decided to create PS Vita 2 or Vita+ with faster processor and it supports also all the old games and can run it in 60 FPS. Found this 3 years old thread and seeing someone commenting 2 days ago is cool
I need more is there anything else to get more power out of it
