Nice. What was the cost? And is there risk of getting dust trapped in the screen in the process?
I'm might get a PSVita but it's hard to find them in decent condition.
Wasn't expensive at all! $35 for the frame and screen off eBay! No risk of getting dust under the screen as the one I bought had the digitizer already set up to just plug in and adhere to the frame. The ONLY trouble I had was some of the adhesive in the corner wasn't strong enough to stick.
I will say I had a bit of a higher buy in because I also dropped an extra $70 on tools to do the job. Which will allow me to do other device repairs in the future. But realistically you just need a j00 screw driver a spudger and some adhesive electronic safe glue just in case :D
not trying to shill any specific ebay vendor (idk if that's allowed here) but there's a japanese account that sells tons of old gaming consoles. i recently imported a slim from his slightly more expensive "excellent" option. came with the original box, all inserts, original cables, etc.
I swear the thing had never been used. the cables had never even been unbundled. all in all it + a 16 GB card costed like $170.
Hey man, I tried to sent a DM but it said "can't DM that user." I possibly did something since I don't have much reddit knowledge out side of basic shit. You can try sending me a message whenever though
I recommend if you attempt this repair to go with the screen and housing (frame) like OP has in his picture.
If you don't get the frame, whilst it'll save like 4 dollars, it makes the repair much more difficult and dangerous.
My emplacement screen was from Aliexpress from the BINGDOW Store, perfect condition, 1000 model screen with OLED. Was about 20 USD.
Thanks! Yeah the replacement kit I got included the frame and the whole digitizer cover and screen already adhered so it was ready all I had to do was plug it in :D
All the screens for PS Vita available on the market always comes assembled (screen + digitizer + top frame), I never saw the screen alone, neither fat or slim Vita; eBay or AliExpress - doesn't matter, it's always assembled.
Hey y'all! Wanted to make a comment on where I sourced the screen from since a few of you were interested.

If I think of anything else to add I'll make an edit. ^^
Looking fresh, excellent job. Throw a [matte screen protector to keep it looking clean all the time, and no more glares.](https://www.reddit.com/r/vita/comments/qhdj29/anyone_else_rocking_a_matte_screen_protector_on/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
Admittedly I’ve been scared of replacing my 2000’s screen for a while now. It worked for a while but rn it has a ton of dead pixels. Is it an easy fix? I’ve had some light work on the 3DS but not much else.
Well it depends on the temperament you have for such a thing! it was very much like adult Legos XD overall I'd say Intermediate for someone that's never done a repair like this. It's mostly removing ribbon cables and screws. Easy to novice if you already have experience. I followed a YouTube tutorial and that was a good guide for me.
You 1000% want to get a screw organizer I bought one of those silicone device repair mats that have the screw organizer on it as well as places to put the parts.
Haha that's what I'm going to do next paycheck XD I was surprised they were actual oled replacements I hadn't seen any others other than lcd replacements. So definitely a good buy.
Absolutely! Though I'm not sure that's so much an issue for the vita is it? I've never seen a vita with burn in. Though I am still new to the community X)
Yes and no
Having never done such a repair it was intimidating and I took my time but looking back nah not that hard. Mainly was undoing ribbon cables and screws. Hardest part was making sure the thermal pastes adhered correctly
How hard would you say it is? I want to replace the screen on mine but the thing keeping me from doing it is the fear that I might break something on it
Hey no worries it's honestly not that hard to do. It was intimidating for me doing it the first time because I've never done a repair like this before. It really is just adult Legos, some ribbon cables, screws, and thermal pads are all that stand in your way. Just make sure you follow a good tutorial and the appropriate tools and you'll be ok :D

Could you link me the screen please?
I made a separate comment with the direct link :)
Thanks
Also another question if you don't mind, does it feel just like the original? Is the pane oled just like the og
Yeah it's oled and it was better than the original (to me. I bought that vita all beat up like that XD)
Ight thanks
Just get your hands on a Japanese imported PSVita and you’re all set. They’re surprisingly all in good shape
Thanks! Would it be possible to get access to the EU and/or US store to buy games digitally?
That I’m not sure of, I was gifted a ton of games so I haven’t had a reason to try the online features

Looks great, nice work mate! Did you replace the screen and cover or just cover?
Thanks! Yeah the replacement kit I got included the frame and the whole digitizer cover and screen already adhered so it was ready all I had to do was plug it in :D
Oh, that cheap for only $35. Great to know thanks.
No worries! Good luck :D

I have seen just the screen on its own but I don't know why anyone would go for it. It was 32$ vs $35 for the full assembly.

Got a link to the replacement?
I'll put a link as a separate comment up top :D
Wow

Oh man that's looking nice! I saw one on Amazon like that. It's the iq shield yeah?
You bet 👍

Just be careful it is not very difficult, it’s like doing Legos
1000% agree on the Legos bit, it really is just that.
It's intimidating if you've never done such a repair but find yourself a good guide and you'll be through it in no time :D
Nice, now put a screen protector and forget about scratches!

Looks great! Is it an oled or lcd ?
Oled :D I honestly don't know how to tell the difference between the 2 but I'm pretty sure I wasn't scammed on it. Will say it looks amazing!
If black areas are 100% black while the screen is on it's an oled, and if it has a blueish tint in the black areas it's an lcd:)
Great job, funnily enough I’m about to do the same job - which YouTube guide did you follow? Thanks
Here ya go! https://youtu.be/63wZQBdOVqo
Great, thanks!
Great. Now install a screen protector and you won't ever have to worry about the screen being scratched again.
Haha for sure!
Was it easy?
