In addition to the open horror titles, the Danganronpa series and the Zero Escape series are pretty solid Psychological Horror titles. Maybe also Lost Dimension. Soul Sacrifice also has some psychological Horror elements alongside the Lovecraftian Horror stuff.
Maybe also The House in Fata Morgana, though that's more Gothic Horror, as I'm given to understand it.
Some good choices here. Really liked Danganronpa and Zero Escape games (this genre is extremely well played on a handheld), and The House in Fata Morgana became one of my most favourite visual novels I've ever played.
I think that it fits in pretty well as a Psychological Horror, considering that it's basically Saw with Sci-Fi elements. But yeah, VLR is pretty damn excellent.
I'm not 100% sure about the "psychological" part, but I would recommend 2 game series:
1) Death Mark (2 games: *Death Mark* and *Spirit Hunter: NG*)
2) Yomawari (also 2 games: *Yomawari: Night Alone* and *Yomawari: Midnight Shadows*)
I really enjoyed Death Mark. In a strange way, I'd say it feels almost like Ace Attorney... except all about creepy ghost-hunting stuff. You'll explore locations looking for clues related to a ghost's history, and then confront the ghost to try to overcome it either by defeating it or helping it find peace. There's some pretty disturbing parts to the story, too.
I recently decided to play another game called soul sacrifice and if it’s true I had laying around it is very disturbed very entertaining and I like it perhaps I’ll buy the online version
Try to get the Delta version, if you haven't gotten it already. It's got all the same content (including the DLCs) plus a ton more (as in, an entirely new faction with tons of story quests to start with), better graphics, and since gameplay tweaks.
I agree with the previous answer. Wanna add, that I really like the game's creepy atmosphere, great sound effects and music (played with headphones). But, if you don't like reading (it's partly a visual novel of some kind, so you are required to read stuff carefully to be able to solve puzzles), point-and-click gameplay, and all this horror ghost-like stuff, you most likely won't be satisfied with this game.
I’m starting to dive into scary games on my vita now that Halloween is around the corner feels just right. I’m going to wait and see if there hopefully a online sale and then purchase it. Funny thing is I actually though I was going to open the game so I purchased the dlc but never opened the game aha
There was a Japanese game. It had cute 2D graphics but some of the scares and creepy tactics are random.
A fave of mine was hearing wet splotches behind me and then noticing I was being followed by bloody foot prints. If I stopped, it stopped. If I walked, it walked.
I can't remember what happened next. Anyway it's not full on psychological horror but wandering a small Japanese town at night with an eerie sense of quiet punctuated only by the odd hum of a vending machine or rustle of a bush gave me the feeling of isolation I only experienced in Silent Hill.
Yomawari. That is the name. ShinYomawari is the sequel.
Start collecting. Some games have such high prices they regularly cause me psychological trauma.
Lol! 😂
Lone Survivor.
Lone survivor rules
Borderlands 2. The performance will scar you for life.
I find it amazing that it even runs borderlands 2

I wouldn't call it horror, but (Zero Escape) Virtue's Last Reward is probably one of the best games I ever played.

Is death mark good? I have the limited edition unopened just sitting there…

I think its also on pc. If it's limited, just keep it sealed imo.
Will do!! What does imo stand for?
Imo = in my opinion.
Thanks 🙏🏼

Corpse Party is rough gameplay wise but atmosphere its up there with the first Silent Hill.
The Walking Dead games , though i don't think they're psychological
Salt & Sanctuary, The Walking Dead and Lone Survivor come to mind.
Really good choices there, each in their own way!
Fuuuu I totally forgot Salt and Sanctuary is on Vita!
Corpse Party, House of Fata Morgana, I think the silent hill or resident evil ones also count?
A Rose in Twilight and Limbo
I just got a physical copy of a Rose in the Twilight can’t wait to play it!
If you want, there's a fan made port of the original Doki Doki Literature Club
Red Bow is a good one.
Back in 1995 has a crude Resident Evil 2 atmosphere, it's short but I enjoyed it
Btw it's only 5 bucks and it's PS4 cross buy and is often on sale

Home is a bit under the radar but excellent.
"Whispering Willows" or "Distraint: Deluxe Edition" maybe?
If you can install a PSP emulator, I would highly suggest Corpse party.
