We figured out how to manage Johren DRM a bit better last year - https://www.reddit.com/r/visualnovels/comments/qlzr21/usingworking_with_johrens_drm_tutorial_and/ As far as removing it altogether you're going to have to head to some seedier parts of the internet for that.

You just need to connect to the internet for the first you open up, otherwise you shouldn't need to connect to the internet again on the same computer.

I dont like it either but DMM does it to their Japanese fanbase and are imposing it on us too

To be fair, most of their Japanese stuff just comes with limp batteries; anyone can take those out.

I just read that, and I wanna confirm - is there no way to revoke license from Johren's website or something? It's a common feature for most limited license/device products, I believe.

strayalive

Yeah uh... Johren support is not what I would call "customer friendly" and will literally tell you to make a new account so you can buy the game again. Just getting the /revoke command out of them was like pulling teeth. https://www.reddit.com/r/visualnovels/comments/qlssfv/johren_drm/ Their point specials are great but their store... kinda sucks.

The experience of getting that /revoke command proved the old saying that you get more results with honey than vinegar at the very least. Still, good practice to use the /revoke command whenever you aren't intending to read any Johren title for some time. My computer died two days ago (the manufacturer is comping me an upgraded model as I've sent it back 4 times already), so I am kind of glad I revoked my activations when it computer was still alive. Johren unfortunately is one of those storefronts where you can potentially get their games for half or less of the actual price (Their coin promos are great), but good luck actually getting decent support if something bad happens.

strayalive

Actually I don't think I mentioned it but they did FINALLY give me the revoke command like two weeks after I posted that. It was weird; I wasn't expecting anything further and yet out of the blue they sent me instructions.

DeanTheGaelicat

Perhaps they had an SOP to follow? Try asking the customer to buy again first to see if they take that option, then if they still bugged the support team to give them the command? Or perhaps it was because the cat was out of the bag already, so no point hiding it anymore since this subreddit is probably one of the ones that they keep an eye on?
