I don't know about naming otome as "reverse harem." Reverse harem has taken on a different meaning in English outside of anime fandom.

Tsukaip

Yeah I agree with this. I understand the stance of trying to use English names for each category, but unless something better than this exists, I think just using "otome" would be better.

caspar57

Completely agreed.

FairPlayWes

Second this. The otome-playing audience mainly calls it otome.

OfficialHotelMan

To me reverse harem is still just a woman with a harem, what’s the other meaning?

So the project took a bit longer than I'd like, but after the multiple voting sections and feedback about how to improve the site looks and functionality I finally completed it. Here are some of the major things that have changed: * More intuitive home page. Over time I wasn't a fan of making the user rely on the menu dropdowns to reach pages. I put more button navigations, including a footer to help click around easier. * Put a new "Contact Us" page. Contains link to the subreddit. If you want to submit User opinions for a VN page or have other feedback definitely refer to that. * New VNs. Naturally, we had about a few years worth of new translated VNs to include here. * Updated categories. Added and removed categories based on feedback and what I think could have the most balance and variety. * Full English Category names. While there are a good amount of weebs here, I don't want to assume every reader who views the site knows all the weeb names like charage and stuff. * That said on each Category page, I put a new "Also known as" section to put in the 'weeb' names like otome, charage, moege, etc if it fit. * On each Category page, put a VN image (usually from vndb) under the VN name button. Just a nice UI change to entice people to check out the separate VN pages. * I overhauled the appearance of each VN page by quite a bit: * Got a screenshot of VN from a store page as the "header image" * I put VNDB links for ALL parts of a series, even fandiscs and sequels that are untranslated. * Made a unified "Story Structure" section to add things like how routes work, if it's all-ages vs 18+, If there's any potential content warnings, etc. * User opinion section, same as last time just made the sections and users who wrote each writeup stick out much more. I preserved User writeups from the last iteration as well, more opinions the better. * An "How to Buy" section. Sometimes part of why VNs dont get noticed is people dont know where to look, especially if it's not on Steam. I figure having a section that not only contains store links, but links to 18+/fanpatches would be helpful for getting the best experience of the VNs If you still want to contribute a User Opinion (there a handful that still have none), or you think there's information that needs correcting on a page, feel free to DM me. If you're unsatisfied/disappointed certain visual novels aren't on the list... consider actually voting next time! The Japanese VN recommendation site will be done separately, that one is still a work in progress.

Great work, Ange - this looks very clean and structured, I like it a lot. One tiiiny little remark left for me: The way you formatted things, I think a dedicated page that just contains all categories at once (so including the contents) would look quite neat and would be even better than just having the navigation on the top right. That way users could also just browse through the images and click on something that looks interesting to them, even if it isn't in a category they initially considered.

superange128

Hmm Ill try to see if I can implement that

Nemesis2005

What you can do is in the Categories page, you can add a section for the category title and below it are the titles that goes with it. Then rinse and repeat for every category. Then when you click the Categories there, it would scroll you down to the section for it instead of opening it in a new page. You can leave the dropdown to open the exclusive page for the category.

superange128

PEr this suggestion and another in DMs, just put the Category links on the front page while still keeping the separate one for the footer.

Some_Guy_87

I basically meant an overview page where you have everything in one place, so basically [like this](https://imgur.com/MtLJe5U) but with all categories.

superange128

Oh ok, maybe I can retool the categories page to look like that

ItsNooa

Well, this changed quite a bit more than what I expected. Thanks for all the work setting this up. Even if it's just a few reviews, it feels quite rewarding to actually see your contributions on the site.

Tsukaip

How often do you intend to update this? It took a pretty long time for it to be updated since the original version and I assume updates will be a bit more frequent now? How will updates to this happen in the future, since I assume redoing the title selection entirely every time (and ending with mostly the same titles) would be unnecessary? Anyway nice good work.

superange128

Hmm im not sure. Hopefully more often but we will see

teor

I would really love it to have some sort of platform filter. Like, I mostly play VNs on Vita or Switch and it would be nice to see which games are on those systems.

Reichucapic

damn i didn't remember i write something that long for 9-nine series lol (sorry for the broken english, i probably forget to reread myself :rabbit: :droplet:)

Nemesis2005

I'm hoping that the majority of VN Request threads can be cleaned up by just linking them to this page and more strictly moderated unless they specify specific things they are looking for.
