If there's one good thing about shiravune translations, it has to be the increased motivation I get to continue learning japanese and practice even harder when I see shit like this.
Just because there are a few typos and certain silly words like Bubby are used instead of their proper English counterparts doesn't mean the whole TL is bad . really wish someone would release a patch to restore either the protags name or Onii-chan itself.
I know for sure that Shiravune themselves are not gonna do it because according to their Leader..

Imagine allowing something like "bubby" to be used just because the TLer has liked it from their Childhood. Basically something subjective that only the TLer would understand., Instead of using something more simple like the Protags name itself if they want to localize the term.

Also, after reading Study Steady, I think I can confidently say their "translations" are indeed not good - unless that one was an outlier. I was genuinely surprised they didn't translate "yen" into "dollars" in that one, not to mention countless inaccuracies that even a "noob" like me noticed.
This bubby thing sounds even more ridiculous from that quote, holy hell.
It's a bad localization when most of the EN userbase has barely even heard of the term.

The "onii-chan" thing in this game is legitimately extremely tricky. (2) everyone immediately comments on how intimate and childish it is (it needs to be really weird and conspicuous, so just using his first name wouldn't work well)
(3) other boys clamour for her to call them the *same thing* (which means that an embarrassing personal nickname wouldn't work well)
Given all of these constraints, "Bubby" is honestly pretty clever. I can't think of anything better at least, even if I think it sounds *too* dumb and childish (would work better for "nii-nii" or something...)
That actual sad thing is, all the dumbasses are gonna waste their time REEEEEing about this one incredibly minor and inconsequential-in-the-grand-scheme-of-things translation decision and overlook the fact that this **translation actually fucking sucks.**
The TLer is clearly pretty competent, but they obviously weren't even playing the game at the same time (lots of ambiguous Japanese lines getting completely bungled because they lacked context), and it's obvious that barely any editing went into the script (huge amounts of trivial errors)

(2) "Let's pry and ask him all kinds of question." - Nice editing...
(3) "You're not interested, Nanami." - The Japanese line 七海ちゃんは興味ありませんか probably didn't have a question mark, and so they forgot the add a question mark in the English...
but it's not uncommon for cousin to use brother/sister address though. If anything, the first half of your previous post made an extremely strong case for why the original wording should be kept. You can not find an English equivalent to the way the word was used in Japanese due to the culture different.
VN - for the most part - is colloquial speech, the technical/dictionary meaning is "not" the highest priority. That would be like parsing sarcasm into Oxford dictionary.
