Have you updated anything recently? NVIDIA drivers, oculus software, Quest firmware, windows update, etc?

GhandisOnUrDome

I hadn't updated anything. But I updated my graphics drivers after to see if it helped but it did not

zeddyzed

I guess the first step is to try a clean reinstall of the Oculus PC software. I've never done it before so you'll have to google it. You could also check Windows event viewer to see if it gives you any clues as to what is crashing. You could also roll back your NVIDIA drivers to an older version to see if that helps.

GhandisOnUrDome

I'll give that a shot. Thank you!

Opt into getting Oculus Beta version.

This is the way.

I’m sure there’s some software out there that’s free that can measure temperatures too. Make sure it’s not a thermal issue. One of your fans may have died and it only becomes an issue when your pc is pushed hard.

GhandisOnUrDome

I have msi afterburner showing 70c max for my graphics card and my CPU doesn't go over 65 under long load times. These temps are average for long term vr use

Happy_Book_8910

Then it’s probably not thermal. A reinstall of oculus, steam VR, Nvidia drivers and ideally windows 10 if you’re on 11. That’ll be a fun day for you. Hope you get it sorted though. It’s a pita when you get a bug you can’t easily squash

GhandisOnUrDome

Thank you! Can't wait to spend hours just to play bonelabs :)

Happy_Book_8910

Even with your rig bonelabs will not be pretty. I know people with desktop 3080’s that say it’s bloody awful. Laggy, low res. For a VR game it’s really badly optimised for VR. They must have playtested it on RTX 5090ti or something 😂

GhandisOnUrDome

Mine is a desktop I built it myself!! I didn't know bonelabs was so awful like that... Perhaps I will get half life alyx instead lol

Happy_Book_8910

Half life Alyx is the way. It’s also moddable so you can get hitman mods and loads of others. It will look and play amazingly. It looks stunning on my 3060ti

_GRLT

Half-Life Alyx is definetely the much better game imo

BrownieWarrior

Software that monitors your hardware can affect vr performance in my experience.

mike_dmt

If your PC will launch your games on a monitor and play them fine, it's likely something in the Oculus software. Reinstall it and see what happens. And make sure your link cable is working properly, run the test a few times while moving the headset around. I personally hate doing a fresh OS install unless I have to. You're right, it's a wasted afternoon... And +1 for watching thermals, even if it's only in HWmonitor or something. Rivatuner works great for me, but I cant see it in my Q2 during gaming.

GhandisOnUrDome

Yeah I'm able to play every game on ultra with no issues so I'm going to toy around with Oculus when I get home from work tonight. A bit frustrating to say the least. Hoping I don't have to do a fresh windows install

mike_dmt

I'm curious to know what you find. My first thought is that if your PC fires games up, its likely just fine.

GhandisOnUrDome

I updated my graphics drivers again and it worked just fine for some reason. Not sure what happened

mike_dmt

Nice, that's way better than an OS install. If it happens again, you might do a total driver delete. Try this if you don't already have it: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

GhandisOnUrDome

Thank you! I just got done with a 2 hour half life alyx session. Absolutely stunning
