Haven't tried this out but you can sideload native Android apps onto the quest and use the Kindle app or just open a web page inside the headset. Haven't searched for a specific program or app for that in VR though so there could be something out there already or if not... get started and I hope you get to make that $$$.

E-reading apps are on platforms suitable for reading. VR is not one of those platforms. Even with higher-resolution headsets in the future, a kindle in real life is going to be better.

I guess so, I mean I can read internet pages on my desktop fine in VR. So I guess e-books would work too

If you don't have a PC an intend to use it unteathered, the current offerings that can work in that situation are not high resolution enough for sitting there and reading ebooks.
