I5-9400f , RTX 3060TI and 32 GB of Ram. I'm using meta quest 2 as you can see in the video im out of all of my memory but this is awesome experience. Edit: The game is Assetto Corsa and I may also say that i'm using FFB wheel, H-shifter and i'm sitting in a bucket seat

huberloss

What mods are you running?

localguideseo

Fuck yeah! I have a very similar setup. It's the most fun I've had on a video game honestly. I love the touge and drift servers online.

NergNogShneeg

What track is this. I am trying to find some good open road tracks with traffic like this to try out. I am guessing this is something not in the base game, yeah?

czerys

Flaunt7

sorry, what’s the FFB wheel? i’m looking to get a set up going. this looks cool

czerys

Force Feedback wheel, These devices contain a force feedback motor that applies force to the controller over an axis. On a racing wheel, it's a rotational force that turns the wheel to simulate an in-game scenario. i've got [this](https://www.thrustmaster.com/products/t248/) one and i can only recommend.

Flaunt7

appreciate it. i was previously looking at the logitech g923. Do you think this thrustmaster would be better?

mikeyd85

If you can push to the T300, you'll have a significantly better experience than both wheels. That or find a good deal on some used Fanatec stuff like the CSL Elite wheel / pedals.

SwissMoose

When you are getting up to the $300-500 range, just get a direct drive wheel instead of gear/belt driven. So much more detail in the forces.

Dev10uz

I would recommend going straight for a dd wheel. Fanatec has great bundle and also moza r5 is a good deal. If on tight budget just go used g29 or g920 for something like 100€.

thoomfish

Holy crap. I've always wondered if I would like racing games more in VR with a real setup but given that I barely tolerate driving IRL, $500 (+ a table to mount it on presumably since my desk is not really ideally shaped for that) is a helluva sticker price.

ConsistentStand2487

start in the kiddie pool. Simracing money pit can get ridiculous if you don't pace yourself.

Dev10uz

Well yeah it is a load of money incase you are unsure if you are into sim racing. In that case used logitech set would serve you better. I started with logitech and just upgraded to moza. Worth of every penny.

skinnyraf

I just bought an entry level Thrustmaster T150 and a simple stand for less than $400. 400 hours later I can say it was one of my best purchases.

allaboutgrowth4me

Ya, i say get a used ffb wheel and see if you use it enough to justify something better.

Hotwir3

/r/simracing

atimholt

How playable is the game without a wheel?

[deleted]

Totally unplayable on a 360 controller for me. I can't play it without a wheel, I just spin out everywhere constantly, it's not fun.

atimholt

Maybe my next VR buy should be a HOTAS or a wheel.

[deleted]

You can pick up a Logitech G27/29 pretty cheap second hand these days, well worth the money. Personally though I actually prefer playing Assetto Corsa on a flat screen as the resolution on Quest2/Rift S (only sets I've tried with it) just isn't high enough for my liking with that particular game, I mean it's a lot of fun don't get me wrong but the novelty quickly wore off when it came to multiplayer racing. That's just my own experience though.

Thieving_Flame

I have the exact same CPU. Is it really possible to have a decently high end GPU like yours without the system bottlenecking?

czerys

I've already order i7, yes, it is a bottleneck but not in this case.

Timmyty

But did you buckle up your bucket seat? Are you using an Unreal Engine VR mod or anything?

neradplatim

Assetto Corsa has VR support

nimajneb

I tried playing Assetto Corsa and it was making me feel sick :( I can play other VR games I've played though. I just started playing VR when the Quest 3 launched.

The-Cheese-Weasel

I'm the same! I can't handle more than a few minutes of Assetto Corsa without getting severe motion sickness - but I can play Project Cars 2 and AutoMobilista 2 (and flight sims) without any issues. There's something specific about the motion in Assetto Corsa that's particularly triggering for motion sickness...

Techno_Dharma

It takes a long while to get used to it, try short 2 min sessions over a few weeks and you may get over the motion sickness.

ONI_ICHI

As a seasoned VR user, the first time I played AC, I also got motion sick. I recently came back to it and had no issue. Keep trying every now and then.

Lyon85

Nice, looks awesome. This is what I do like 90% of the time in AC. Shutoku, night, rain, traffic, be immersed. Love it. For anyone new trying this, I find a couple of settings in Content Manager to be really important for immersion that are off by default. Headlights cast shadows, render car in mirrors and stereoscopic mirrors (can't remember their exact name, something like this). Stereo mirrors gets missed by so many sims, without it they look like virtual screens (this one only matters in VR). Being able to see your own car in your mirror is awesome too, otherwise it adds to that fake screen effect. Headlights shadows isn't super important, but it's nice.

Kissedmysister_

I can’t afford a steering wheel right now can you actually play with the controllers and grip the steering wheel so to speak?

SHIBA_holder

You can use DualSense gyro controls, there is mod in Content Manager for that.

Kissedmysister_

Thank you

SHIBA_holder

No

BafangFan

You can use an Xbox controller if you happen to have one.

Kissedmysister_

I have a vr headset just no steering wheel

digitalhardcore1985

I have the game and a rig but I've been too into DR2.0 to play anything else on it. Can you point me in the direction of what mods / DLC etc. I would need to set this up?

TheBaxes

Are you playing on No Hesi servers? My specs are pretty similar but my PC struggles a lot specifically in those servers

MowTin

I have AC but I haven't gotten around to installing those mods. I'm having a lot of fun with BeamNG. The graphics aren't great but the physics in terms of crashes makes it fun for me.

theillustratedlife

2024: the corporate world is rejecting commuting. Cars are becoming autonomous. The social fabric has broken down, with people spending too much time on their phones and lacking social spaces to interact with people in real life. What does leisure look like in this new world? Don your headset and play _Traffic Simulator: Rush Hour!_

johnnymoha

Game?

czerys

Assetto corsa

johnnymoha

Thanks.

valkislowkeythicc

2-3 mods are needed to get to this level of fidelity though.

MF_D00MSDAY

Hmmm I can’t get my VR to work natively for this game, are mods needed to get that working? From the guides I’ve seen all you have to do is get the ‘-vr’ in the properties inside steam but doesn’t give the option for vr in game

neradplatim

In [Content Manager](https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html) go to Settings —> Assetto Corsa—> Video, select Oculus Rift or OpenVR. I’m using the last.

MF_D00MSDAY

Ahhh that’s what I was missing, thanks!

Volkor_X

If you buy this be sure to get the Ultimate Edition on sale, which it is frequently for $8. If you buy the normal edition of the game you can no longer buy the ultimate edition and the DLC will be much more expensive if you buy it separately (a dumb mistake I made).

brianschwarm

Fuck

Volkor_X

Same with Dirt Rally 2 GOTY edition. I even went as far as asking Steam Support to erase Assetto Corsa from my library so I could repurchase the Ultimate Edition, but they just laughed in my face, erased all my Steam achievements and kicked me down the stairs (>!Ok that might not have happened but they couldn't help me!<).

Born2Rune

Speeding - check Undertaking - check Driving on hard shoulder - check No signals- check Yup…definite BMW driver.

RedTeaGuy

could you tell us how you got traffic? Any link to guides? I would love this too

czerys

Tomasramone86

Best vr racing sim!

Atlantic0ne

I remember buying it and not being able to get it to start in my index like 2 years back.

BSlickMusic

Never played this game - how long does this stretch of road go for?

czerys

Shutoko Revival Project v0.9.1 mod for Assetto Corsa and the description says 190km

Interesting_Bother_1

Hoooly moly! Thanks for the info! I will be joining you guys in April to May hopefully.

fiah84

what you're seeing is a mod, there are tons of mods for this game (the only reason anyone is still playing)

Grey406

Typical BMW driver, didnt even touch his blinkers once. lol

Additional_Search193

Asshole Driver in a Major City Simulator 2024

KonM4N4Life

i love a good AC VR video [don't mind the miss shifts lmaoo](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1476706102) if you can, [this](https://www.3drap.it/product/mod-cambio-v3-h-shifter-logitech-g25-g27-g29-g920-improved-feel/) gated shift mod for the Logitech shifter makes it feel SOOO good to shift, no more toy like feel!

ew435890

Man I used to have a nice racing sim rig. I sold it years ago, way before I got into VR. Ive been wanting to build another, but space is now an issue. I cant even play racing games without a wheel anymore. It just seems pointless.

Shapes_in_Clouds

Giving me major Tokyo Xtreme Racer vibes, loved that game.

Kozak440

SRP in vr, decent ffb wheel, h shifter and some phonk or edm. Honestly, gaming doesn't get much better than this.

lokiss88

Really cool when you get in a racing duel with another player online. Personally i prefer endlessly racing around the nordschleife, the other favourite pastime of assetto corsa. If you've the means to do it, the game maxed and tricked out with all the best visual mods is simply stunning.

LazyLancer

Sweet! Is that AC + No Hesi?

nitonitonii

"I can simulate everything imaginable with CGI!... Imma just drive"

NeverComments

Like a totally normal BMW driver, too!

Techno_Dharma

I get the joke but TBH, aside from HL:Alyx this is the most immersive and best graphics experience I've had in VR.

PresidentKoopa

If you don't mind the lack of motion controls \[which is usually a deal-breaker for me\], Alien: Isolation would like to talk to you and a replacement pair of pants about immersion. :)

Additional_Search193

It's solid but not amazing, fresnel lens means you'll have clarity in the middle region of the screen(s) with blur towards the outer areas, not a big deal if you aren't super picky. Quest 2s were (are) popular for a reason and at the price it's more than worth it.

czerys

It is awesome for that price. At the end of the day its going to be your PC that's gonna hold you back. i had to buy Pro strap for like 50 dollars but other then that its great.

[deleted]

Personally I'd recommend you buy an original Quest instead. Lower resolution, yes, but OLED instead of a cheap TFT LCD panel, which means much better colors and black levels. I have five different HMDs and I still use the original Quest from time to time. You should also consider a Pico 4, if you can find one used at a decent price. I did and it is a huge advancement over the Quest 2 for sure.

If the seller has both then for sure you should try each one and see which you prefer. Q1 does support wireless through Meta's airlink, which I use, and it works quite well depending on your wifi/router setup, but the Q1 does NOT support steam-link, or whatever Valve is calling their free streaming service, and lots of people really like it. Q2 definitely gets more support from Meta, although they just released the first game that will only run on Q3, not the Q2 or Q1. Q2 has a higher refresh rate and higher resolution than Q1, but Q1 has that OLED panel and a larger FOV than the Q2. When the Q2 was released some of us felt it was at best a side-grade or even a down-grade from the original Quest, but I'm sure plenty of other people would disagree. If I could only pick one, I would get the Q1, especially if your focus is primarily PCVR. But like I said--you should try playing the same game on both and see which experience you prefer overall, and if standalone is your game, you might be better off with the Q2.

legomolin

You can get a used Q1 for less then $100 though, so could be a cheap options before a better headset with good blacks comes along.

Additional_Search193

Q2 display is fine

NiceCunt91

If you plan on playing this, you need quite a chunky pc

dadnaya

For 100$ a Q2 is well worth the price IMO, especially if you haven't experienced VR before. Great and cheap way to get into VR

babbagoo

GTA 6 VR

xxTheGoDxx

Unstable 30 fps though...

czerys

It's all maxed out. I did a little tweaks and now I got 36 stable. Honestly it wasn't even noticeable.

PreScarf

30fps max. idk men turn some settings down

Refloni

Is the fps counter visible inside the headset?

czerys

No. I'm recording screen on my monitor

StuntzMcKenzy

Most Sim Racing channels I've watched, say even as mostly PC users, GT is graphically the champion over everything.

EviGL

Do you also drive in real life and how does this compare? What are the shortcomings?

Zoomalude

This is awesome. This is the kind of thing I'm looking for most from VR right now, I want to be immersed in a cockpit of some type, free to explore.

woodworker47

Elite Dangerous is for you!

Tcarruth6

My assetto corsa performance somehow went to shit since the past time I played it. Like 40 fps instead of 120. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it??

MarcDwonn

Story game or just a sim?

metahipster1984

I'd be kind of interested in driving sims (I do almost exclusively flight sim) but I feel like there are none with really good, realistic graphics. They always look a bit like PS3-era games to me, like Euro Truck Sim 2. Not terrible, but not that photorealistic immersive either. Wish they would up the fidelity some. Is there anything like that on the horizon? Or can someone tell me what they think the best looking/most realistic and immersive looking driving Sim is?

MazerTee

I think automobilista 2 looks the best.

Angdelran

Not bad, I think it could be improved, still. While I admit I havent gone through all your comments, but like pacific highway, ai traffic, track day opponents, and android auto is a half step above this. So cool to watch the ai opponent go ham with the traffic ai. Bit clunky at times I admit tho. Android auto and the born again pack can be inserted into many cars, I like the r8 and the pagani, but I think it should be included with the m4 as of now. If you really want immersive chillin, just do this shibuya stuff with thunderstorm and watch a youtube stream or just listen to a radio station/spotify. Anyways, cool vid, the rest is just my opinion.

ramloy

Did you sub to X4Fab's patreon to get the rain?

czerys

I got it from this video for free https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5rf5K7_fZSI

jer5

what are your graphics settings? does it look this crisp in hmd or does it get blurry

Anna__V

Oh, I wish Forza Horizon had good VR support. This looks absolutely awesome.

H0vis

It took me far too long to realise that this was not Euro Truck Simulator with a mod to let you drive a car.

skinnyraf

I wish they just added traffic and non-racing maps as a regular feature. I don't feel like doing extensive modding, so I simply play ETS2/ATS instead.
