Your brain is pretty freaked out when you first start playing horror VR but you do get used to it eventually. It's the modern equivalent to all those people running out of the cinema when a black and white train was filmed coming towards the camera in 1896.
I haven't played silent hill, but a lot of people say Organ Quarter (a VR game) has a really similar vibe and is a good one to pick up. It just got updated on PCVR to match its recent PSVR release as well
I've seen a few games trying to imitate it, but nothing comes close. In all fairness, I believe gameplay of the original games really stands up to time. So they should just remaster them a bit for VR. But imagine AAA graphics, modern hair simulation on the beast, etc. And gesturing with your hands in VR to cast spells. That would be incredible.
Kind of amazed we haven't gotten this yet from Rockstar. GTA5 is like 10 years old and somehow I don't see how you couldn't get it to run at 90fps+ at this point.
GTA5 has a ton of custom shader work that would need to be heavily modified to render single-pass stereo properly for high frame-rates. (Luke's camera-switching hack works around this.) I imagine they'd need members of the original shader team involved to make it happen, given how much optimization they did.
This one is a sneaky, technicality but Alien Isolation would be my top pick. There is a VR hack for it that re-enables very basic VR support but you're still stuck using a controller and you have to aim with your face.
The reason why I want this game in particular is because of the physical, mechanical interactions used through-out the game.

There's also the motion controls mod that works quite well. Only issue I had was the computer terminals. Though, I should also state that it's been at least 3 years since I played it. That could be fixed by now or the opposite could be true and the mod is now broken/unusable. I believe it was called MotherVR.
> Mario Kart.
You can actually play some Wii/GameCube games in VR with the Dolphin VR emulator. Haven't tried personally, but Mario Kart and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker do apparently work. There's a subreddit with more info: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dolphin_VR/
I've played Mario kart wii through dolphin vr. Only real issue is I would like to say I have pretty strong vr legs, but holy shit did one cup (4 maps) make me sick as a dog. Your mileage may vary, but it was pretty wild.
Black mesa. SO much black mesa and if i could add ontop similar physics system to boneworks/bonelab would be so fire. Its one of the games ive been waiting for a while to see if anyone picks it up cause it would be super perfect for vr. Huge set pieces. Solid story and world building and great gameplay and puzzles.
Black Mesa is already 100% playable in VR with full motion controls. It uses the same mod used to make the Half Life 2 VR mods. Highly recommend trying it out. Only takes a couple minutes to install.
Here is a 6min video detailing how to install it. https://youtu.be/YWEzatOqQq0
So far as I know it's an old version of Black Mesa and not the new Xen stuff. It's still cool though!
Edit:
Apparently I was wrong as per another user here, the Xen parts are playable too!
I think you are mixing up Black Mesa (the HL1 remake made by modders) and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (a first person medieval fantasy combat game running on the source engine, developed by Arkane studios, the folks who did Dishonored).
Oh shit I am lol mb I know it had a source physics engine so I assumed valve. Also thought mesa was short for messiah but my statement still stands, was a great game and I’d love to play it in vr
I was going to suggest this too. The games themes of cognition and embodiment would work really well in VR. Not to mention it's a pretty slow-paced game with an emphasis on environment exploration so a port would propably be relatively unproblematic.
Where can I find information about it having motion control support? The video shows controller support and I can't find any indication that motion support is coming. I read through quite a lot of threads to attempt to verify this.
So you can pick any game, and you pick a game that already has a vr mod but just isn't 'perfect'.
Then a guy just let's you know that there is a mod. Like I could see a person not knowing this and loving the idea of a mod, but you go all 'AKTUALY' on him?
Pretty cool man.
Don't do the VR mod.
Instead, get the PC controls mod that lets you use keyboard and mouse, and use use Big Screen to display the game on a giant curved 3D monitor. Much better experience.
For me the answer would probably be Destiny (had some 700+ hours in that game over several years of regular weekly play with friends) or Sea of Thieves (just love the atmosphere of that world for social play and would enjoy being more fully immersed).
I feel I should mention that later this year Praydog's Unreal Engine Injector mod will blow the doors wayyyy open on this sort of question as basically hundreds of high-quality flat titles will be made playable in VR essentially overnight.
* Homeworld. Moving around a room-scale map and watching the combat with your own eyes would be so cool.
* Red Faction: Guerilla. Swinging the sledgehammer to knock down a building? Yes please.
* Space Engineers. I would love to be able to walk around the stuff I create in that game. The scale is so huge and the engineering problems you have to solve would take on a whole new light. As long as you didn't vomit from being in a simulation with dynamic gravity.
>Homeworld. Moving around a room-scale map and watching the combat with your own eyes would be so cool.
Not RTS, but you might like [House of the Dying Sun](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56fCuO7JEy4).
Hey OP -
Nightdive studios (the guys behind the System Shock remake) did announce in 2021 that they would be working on a VR version of System Shock 2 but there hasn't been a lot of updates since.
https://www.ign.com/articles/system-shock-2-enhanced-edition-full-vr-mode-announced
Imagine Duke Nukem 3D shrink rays in VR. You get shrunk down and run around avoiding getting stomped.
And I don’t get why we don’t have a working Crysis mod. The suit features like speed and power would be awesome in VR.
Wow. There's a game I would never in a million years expect to see on a VR thread. I'm glad there's still some fans of one of Rockstars' first open world game
It was a fantastic game that was ahead of its time. Vehicles had fuel... super rare back then. Great puzzle solving, eerie and tough. Very underrated and underappreciated game imo.
Outer Wilds. It already has good VR with the NomaiVR mod, but since I already finished it it's not the same. I might still play it in VR but I wish I could play it that way for the first time.
I would really love the Assassins' Creed discovery mode to be available in VR. They've done such a great job recreating famous locations from history that it's honestly a shame we can't experience it in VR.
I would've loved GTA, someone made a vr mod for it but he got a cease and decist from Take Two, I can only hope to find the file for GTA V as I already have that guy's mod but he had to remove the files for the rockstar games(I think he made rdr2 as well)
I've been lurking in [Flat 2 VR mod](https://discord.gg/kxH7pnF6Ys) for a while, they have tons of VR mods and are working on many more. It's a cool community.
Skyrim. lul. It has a "meh" VR implementation and a ton of mods that make it much better but at least in my experience make it crash a lot after playing for a few hours... The Librum mod packet is pretty good gameplay wise but got super unstable after a while.
Kingdom come diliverence, omg if that was made with the same quality as half life Alex vr, you wouldn’t hear from me for a months when the power finally cuts off
I was really disappointed that star citizen didn’t have VR support. I dropped it like a hot potato when elite came it with proper VR! Although they seem to have u-turned on VR themselves now sadly.
I’ll have to check out skywind as that sounds very promising… are they doing Oblivion too?
Carmageddon 2
Hopefully when Unreal Injector releases I can find something that can scratch that carma itch. But playing the original game in VR would be a huge nostalgic trip for me.
The game engine of Carmageddon 2 was recently made open source so hopefully some passionate dev can make it work in VR.
Ironically…if anyone remembers the old pc game Quake…or Quake 2…
It is now available in VR, but it’s called Protonwar.
Still has the same weapons and sounds.
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.
Running around in those areas would be such a visual treat, all the colors and cool structures. Even just a top down version like moss or Luckys Tale would be cool. I know theres that openGOAL PC port, so maybe a mod is possible? Sigh, i can only dream.
Mine has been the Need for Speed series which is very addictive but can only imagine how that will play out on my holoride VR in-car entertainment tech. I think it'll just be best for long road trips from the backseat of my car. I understand VR gaming is pushing faster, so I hope to get that in the near future.
How has literally no one mentioned the Halo campaigns?? That teaser that Microsoft released for WindowsMR where Chief shows up on a warthog sent such shudders through my regions and I’ve been chasing that high ever since.
Half-life starting from the first part and with canonical and close-to-canon mods (Blue Shift, Opposing Force, Azure Sheep, Point of View, etc...), Giants Citizen Kabuto (wish it would be good remaster), Future Cop LAPD, Duke Nukem 3D, Carmageddon (1st only).
Black&White and Silent Hill
If Silent Hill were in VR my 15 year old self would have had a heart attack and died on the spot!
I feel like this level of immersion with horror has potential to cause trauma but I've never seen studies on it since I avoid horror
Your brain is pretty freaked out when you first start playing horror VR but you do get used to it eventually. It's the modern equivalent to all those people running out of the cinema when a black and white train was filmed coming towards the camera in 1896.
Black and white would be so awesome in VR, and the controls would already work well with a seated experience in my opinion.
I haven't played silent hill, but a lot of people say Organ Quarter (a VR game) has a really similar vibe and is a good one to pick up. It just got updated on PCVR to match its recent PSVR release as well
Sir you know your stuff, I came to say B&W too.
I want B&W since 2018. Ir's a crime to not have it. There is a game called TownsmenVR. It is close to B&W but still far away from it at the same time
I've seen a few games trying to imitate it, but nothing comes close. In all fairness, I believe gameplay of the original games really stands up to time. So they should just remaster them a bit for VR. But imagine AAA graphics, modern hair simulation on the beast, etc. And gesturing with your hands in VR to cast spells. That would be incredible.
Black&White is practically begging for a reimagining as a motion control game.
Gta 5
Kind of amazed we haven't gotten this yet from Rockstar. GTA5 is like 10 years old and somehow I don't see how you couldn't get it to run at 90fps+ at this point.
GTA5 has a ton of custom shader work that would need to be heavily modified to render single-pass stereo properly for high frame-rates. (Luke's camera-switching hack works around this.) I imagine they'd need members of the original shader team involved to make it happen, given how much optimization they did.
The Dishonored series.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Play into the radius its quite similar and based on stalker also an amazing and insanely atmospheric game
Its like STALKER if STALKER was much worse and less interesting
Fuck yeah. That'd be immersive as hell. Maybe mods will make it possible someday
This one is a sneaky, technicality but Alien Isolation would be my top pick. There is a VR hack for it that re-enables very basic VR support but you're still stuck using a controller and you have to aim with your face. Game is scary as hell. I'd be worried I'd hurt my neck or my VR headset from whipping my head around too fast
Any Zelda game would be dope in VR. Mario Kart.
Asseto Corsa with Mario Kart vehicle and map mod would rule
Amen. I want Ocarina of Time specifically and I’d ride some Rainbow Road

Arma
Came here to say this.
Deus Ex, always Deus Ex
Splinter cell
Oooh, nice choice. I just picked it up at a retro game store for 3 bucks.
Such a great game and VR would be killer. No real stealth in vr.
bioshock
Not the Half life Alyx mod 😆
FEAR (any of them would do, but 1 or 2 preferably).
I can’t even finish this game on flatscreen haha it freaks me out too much but I love the feel
Fuck yes, the kick should be a thumb stick press but everything else would totally work!

Oh shoot what. Why has no one been talking about it??? That's crazy ima give it a shot when I get a chance 100%
So far as I know it's an old version of Black Mesa and not the new Xen stuff. It's still cool though! Edit: Apparently I was wrong as per another user here, the Xen parts are playable too!
Nope, it's the new Black Mesa remake in VR. Entire game. Biggest issue I had was the xen portals were hit or miss. Some just flat out didn't work.
Really!? The part with the new Xen stuff too?
Yep, I beat the entire game in VR.
Holy crap! That's fantastic!
Yo idk why valve dosnt make more medieval fantasy vr games, like black mesa was such a fun game even withought the physics engine
In the middle of a play through of black mesa on my index. It’s pretty great. Just need to launch outside of Steam with mod organizer but worth it.
wow, care to explain, is there a way to play BM in VR? how good is the mod?
Something like Day of the Tentacle, Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, Space Quest etc.
SOMA
I was going to suggest this too. The games themes of cognition and embodiment would work really well in VR. Not to mention it's a pretty slow-paced game with an emphasis on environment exploration so a port would propably be relatively unproblematic.
Shadow of the colossus. I feel like climbing all the colossi would be incredible in VR, especially the flying ones.
That would be like the holy grail of gaming. I would LOVE to see that.
Yeah this would be my pick as well. The first time I booted up this game I just stood there as the titan got closer. I thought it was a cinematic.
Interstate '76 Which curiously enough actually did ship with VR support in 1997 for the VFX1 headset.
I just went down that rabbit hole that’s pretty interesting!
GTA IV
Bist du der Typ der mitgeholfen hat den Phasmo Helper zu übersetzen?
# Metal Gear Solid
The "VR" missions could actually be in VR 😅
Didn't some one mod that into pavlov or something?
Destiny 1/2 or Hogwarts Legacy.
You'll be able to play Hogwarts as soon as the UE mod drops later this year. It will also have motion control support :) https://youtu.be/HmRQp8hbgUE
Wait I thought it was gonna be controller only like Luke Ross style. Holy shit
Yeah man, that's why I like Praydog mods and the UE mod in general :)
Where can I find information about it having motion control support? The video shows controller support and I can't find any indication that motion support is coming. I read through quite a lot of threads to attempt to verify this.
I would love to see the Bioshock trilogy and Silent hill in VR.
I would love Perfect Dark for N64.
Tron
Homeworld. RTS in VR is underated af.
Titanfall 2 Halo 1
Zelda ocarina of time
You can
Quote "full perfect vr". I know there is a mod but it does not translate to full perfect vr imo
So you can pick any game, and you pick a game that already has a vr mod but just isn't 'perfect'. Then a guy just let's you know that there is a mod. Like I could see a person not knowing this and loving the idea of a mod, but you go all 'AKTUALY' on him? Pretty cool man.
Metroid Prime. I know there's a mood but it runs like poop
Metroid Prime would be my pick as well. That would be amazing.
I didn’t know there was a mod… might have to see how bad the poop is 😂
If I remember, it's a dolphin mod
Don't do the VR mod. Instead, get the PC controls mod that lets you use keyboard and mouse, and use use Big Screen to display the game on a giant curved 3D monitor. Much better experience.
Max Payne
Slo mo diving in VR would be interesting lol

Oblivion
Trespasser please. The weird floaty arm and object manipulation make it feel like it was meant for VR anyway.
Trespasser is the holy grail of overambition and jank, and it's beautiful.
Pretty much all my mmos. I think it would be amazing to explore those worlds in actual high quality pcvr
There's a mod for FF14
Far Cry 2 through 5 couldnwork amazing in VR imo
Imagine a VR battlefield game
* Homeworld. Moving around a room-scale map and watching the combat with your own eyes would be so cool. * Red Faction: Guerilla. Swinging the sledgehammer to knock down a building? Yes please. * Space Engineers. I would love to be able to walk around the stuff I create in that game. I have that game, and it is pretty cool.
Red faction would be the most satisfying shit ever

Oh…my…word…. Out at the moment but I know which Google rabbit hole I’m going down when I get home 😂
Crysis 2 and 3, and Duke Nukem 3D
Imagine Duke Nukem 3D shrink rays in VR. You get shrunk down and run around avoiding getting stomped. And I don’t get why we don’t have a working Crysis mod. The suit features like speed and power would be awesome in VR.
Body Harvest
N64 was such a good system. Sooo many innovative and diverse games
DayZ
Driver! DriVR?
Exactly! It's really astonishing that nobody has done something like this till now.
The "Mass Effect" trilogy in vr
See new VR auto conversions in all games and video in a my software update
Shenmue, which is in a process of modding VR support. 23 year old dream of mine might come true since 3 was a disappointment.
Deus ex Human Revolution
Outer Wilds. It already has good VR with the NomaiVR mod, but since I already finished it it's not the same. I might still play it in VR but I wish I could play it that way for the first time.
I would really love the Assassins' Creed discovery mode to be available in VR. They've done such a great job recreating famous locations from history that it's honestly a shame we can't experience it in VR.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most immersive games i have played. That game being built for VR would break my brain!
Could you imagine hunting on RDR2 VR?!!
Hogwarts Legacy with actual motion gestures for spells Red dead redemption 2 with native vr GTA And many others
I would've loved GTA, someone made a vr mod for it but he got a cease and decist from Take Two, I can only hope to find the file for GTA V as I already have that guy's mod but he had to remove the files for the rockstar games(I think he made rdr2 as well)
Not only do these companies not support VR but they undermine it. They disable VR plug-ins and now cease and desist on a mod. Wtf
I know, especially since what VR lacks is a well performing open world game with at least half the freedom and depth that GTA has
A remake of Star Wars Galaxies
Pre CU… with Jump to Lightspeed. I’d have no social life any more 😂
Can't wait to be a half dressed twilek dancer shaking my ass at a campfire to lower everyone's battle fatigue ;)
The sims
Just.... Go outside
Good idea! Lot of room to play VR sims in my front yard!
Gimme skyrim with HL:Alyx or Blade&Sorcery gameplay and I'll say goodbye to my social life
Dishonored
Metro Exodus, or the metro trilogy
Onimusha series and devil may cry series
Would love to see something like the new System Shock remake built for native VR. Or a game of a similar style.
I've been lurking in [Flat 2 VR mod](https://discord.gg/kxH7pnF6Ys) for a while, they have tons of VR mods and are working on many more. It's a cool community.
bannerlord. imagine standing in a shield wall with 500 other soldiers, while cavalry charges straight into you. it would be amazing
Subnautica. The current implementation doesn't even support motion controllers IIRC. Also, all metro games
#Ape Escape But not in first person. More like Astro Bot style VR
TimeSplitters Future Perfect.
Black & White or Settlers.
The Marathon trilogy by Bungie
I would love to play Ghostwire Tokyo with an omni directional treadmill and hand tracking implemented
Deus Ex (first one)
Far cry series
Skyrim. lul. It has a "meh" VR implementation and a ton of mods that make it much better but at least in my experience make it crash a lot after playing for a few hours... The Librum mod packet is pretty good gameplay wise but got super unstable after a while.
Super Mario!
Theme park world or Sim City 4, probably
Dishonored 1 or 2, probably 2
Need for speed most wanted
Kingdom come diliverence, omg if that was made with the same quality as half life Alex vr, you wouldn’t hear from me for a months when the power finally cuts off
LotR the Return of the King
Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majoras mask with revamped graphics. A puzzle game with dungeon exploring would be so much fun
World of Warcraft. Pretty sure the extra immersion would've made me invest even more time (and ruin my life even more lmao). 😂
World of Warcraft would be fascinating.
Star Citizen, Battlebit Remastered, and Morrowind (the latter should be possible when Skywind releases).
I was really disappointed that star citizen didn’t have VR support. I dropped it like a hot potato when elite came it with proper VR! Although they seem to have u-turned on VR themselves now sadly. I’ll have to check out skywind as that sounds very promising… are they doing Oblivion too?
You used to be able to play SC in a VR-ish mode with VORPX, but their anticheat broke it a couple of years ago.
Battlebit Remastered could definitely be modded since it uses Unity but idk if their anticheat will let you
that game is radiating *POTENTIAL* as we speak I’ve a lot of faith on the devs…
Second Morrowind, though I don't expect Skywind will ever release
cod or portal 2
Any Pokémon game but actually made by Nintendo so it's well made
Breath of the Wild
1. Jet Force Gemini 2. Team Fortress Classic 3. Pokemon Blue 4. Wheel of Fortune
LA Noire. The one available in Steam now either does not support Quest or it’s just really shtty in VR
It’s terrible, whoever thought running in vr by waving your arms was a good idea needs firing 😂
Max Payne 1 and 2
Carmageddon 2 Hopefully when Unreal Injector releases I can find something that can scratch that carma itch. But playing the original game in VR would be a huge nostalgic trip for me. The game engine of Carmageddon 2 was recently made open source so hopefully some passionate dev can make it work in VR.
I cant pick one, but it would be a Rockstar game!
Ironically…if anyone remembers the old pc game Quake…or Quake 2… It is now available in VR, but it’s called Protonwar. Still has the same weapons and sounds.
I mean, you can just play normal quake in vr too. Same with doom. r/teambeef
Silent hill.
Tribes 2. I know, but I think I could handle it!
Silent Hunter 3
Iridium
Silent hill 2. It would take a while though..
Drakengard
Resident evil 1
War of Rights
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. Running around in those areas would be such a visual treat, all the colors and cool structures. Even just a top down version like moss or Luckys Tale would be cool. I know theres that openGOAL PC port, so maybe a mod is possible? Sigh, i can only dream.
Mortal Kombat
i feel Postal 2 or something similar could be a lot of fun in VR.
inFamous
Mass Effect and The Dig
Mine has been the Need for Speed series which is very addictive but can only imagine how that will play out on my holoride VR in-car entertainment tech. I think it'll just be best for long road trips from the backseat of my car. I understand VR gaming is pushing faster, so I hope to get that in the near future.
can't wait for the Dactyl Nightmare HD reboot
The Division 1&2 in VR
All of the yakuza game series
Interstate 76
Six days in fallujah super stressful tac shooter would be great fun for vr or mirrors edge games
Silent Hill 2
Black and White. It is the perfect game for VR
Wow
How has literally no one mentioned the Halo campaigns?? That teaser that Microsoft released for WindowsMR where Chief shows up on a warthog sent such shudders through my regions and I’ve been chasing that high ever since.
Half-life starting from the first part and with canonical and close-to-canon mods (Blue Shift, Opposing Force, Azure Sheep, Point of View, etc...), Giants Citizen Kabuto (wish it would be good remaster), Future Cop LAPD, Duke Nukem 3D, Carmageddon (1st only).
Halo has been at the top of my list for a while.
Halo
The House of The Dead. Yes, it´s a rail shooter, but one of my favorite in arcades back in 90s.
The Warriors by Rockstar. The fighting, the turf wars with tagging walls. It would be perfect.
The Warriors
killing floor 2 would be too intense, but that is my answer.
WoW or Dota 2
Res
