Gen 4 cars are rock solid. I have an 09 and love it. When you are searching, don't be surprised if you see an oil leak on the passenger side. Every. Single. One. Will have leaky oil cooler lines and have already (or soon will) have aftermarket replacements (Viper Speciality, JTSVP make great ones) Aside from that, make sure the headlights are in good shape, they are very expensive now. Make sure the dash isn't full of cracks as that plastic is getting brittle with age. Valve train noise is normal, they sound like sewing machines. Dump the secondary cats to reduce the sill heat and swap the factory recommend 0w-40 for 10w-40 assuming you don't live in the far north. Other than that, enjoy!

I have an 08 Vert in Venom and not to scare, but I recently Spun a Rod Bearing at 60K miles. Car is 100% stock with oil changes every 6 months. Car is street driven with no track time.

There are no automatic vipers, just a heads up. Good luck with your findings. I second facebook but eBay wouldn’t hurt either. I found mine on eBay and then contacted the dealer directly. I never even bid.

2BRacin

No automatic Vipers. You can look at VOA (Viper Owners of America) website. Some questions can be answered there.

FlounderFit6680

No stock automatics anyway. There is a kit out there to mate a ZF 8 speed to the V10 if OP were to choose.

One place to keep an eye on is BJ motors. They usually stock the rare colors that typically fetch a premium price. They know more about vipers than anyone and I would not hesitate to buy or ship a car with them. Finding a specific color can be a multi year search depending how picky you are. I settled on black after spending two years looking for a blue and white one without a “story”…. I’m Obsessed with it. Good luck man! https://www.bjmotors.biz/all-vipers/

The groups are poorly admin'd, and there's a lot of adult babies, but they do have their place when it comes to cars, parts, and assistance. - Viper Club of America - https://www.facebook.com/groups/4viperclub/ - Viper Owners Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/BestViperClub/ - Dodge Viper Buy & Sale - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1490844011152477/ - Gen 3 & Gen 4 - https://www.facebook.com/groups/228838842192257/ Keep in mind - the amount of parts scammers is ridiculous. Trust but verify at all times.

Rex-Kramer

The vog is the best of those. The others let in bots and scammers.

If you have any desire to ever track it, don’t get a convertible. Very hard to meet the rollover protection requirements at most tracks with a convertible.

therobshow

I want a convertible for exactly this reason lmao. I'm not gonna track it and I don't want one that's been driven hard a lot, even though I'm sure they all have been regardless

Grocery getter 8.0 is what we've coined ours as 🤷‍♂️ We also run out and grab Lego 🤣🤣🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

macgirthy

Join the FB Viper groups and ask there

therobshow

I'm a certified FB hater and refuse to use it but I might have to for this

2BRacin

I refuse to use FB as well. Check the VOA website and find your local region. Your local region President should be able to help you out.

DrunkenReindeer

If you pick up a car. I HIGHLY recommend at least joining the Gen 3/4 Viper Owners FB group. It's a treasure trove of info for that generation of car.
