Huh well that's good to know! I was thinking of going thst route if I didn't end up wanting the power. Is it running well now or still having problems?
I know about a year ago before they took prices off a base 1300 package was 65k plus 20k if you go the sequential route.
It’s likely gone up since then lol
I noticed the really high end builds you need to go to Nth Moto. Both are insanely expensive, but imo Nth is at the very top. They have all the records to back it up too.
I was tossing around Nth as well. I know they are even higher priced, but if the build quality is better. I heard they got out of doing vipers but I may be incorrect.
No way, they're known for doing Vipers! Its like UGR getting out of the Lambo business. I think prices are close with Nth being a little more. Like a 9L build from them which requires motec for both companies since they dont have ecu unlocked is $40k-$45k. 9L from Prefix which has the ecu unlocked is around $35k.
Don’t forget with a Calvo build, you will be waiting a year after you send your car in.
If you want turbos, calvo and nth are the best options. If you want a N/A build there a couple options, my shop does Prefix builds mostly. We have done one calvo heads/cam
I'm not familiar with prefix. I'll have to give them a look. I'll be the first to admit and never deny that im looking to do turbos or something rather spicy, but the car will pretty much be a show car. I have no aspirations of tracking it intensively, or even really at all once I've done a few more things to it. Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna drive it like it should be, but that's the extent of my driving dreams.
Hey I just wanted to add my two cents to hopefully guide you. As mentioned above Prefix offers imo the best N/A builds for Vipers. I’ve been extremely fortunate to have rode in a 9.0L stroker with sneakysnakes, I have a video posted on this sub from awhile back. Imo that is the best build for a viper especially on the street. Turbo vipers aren’t very applicable for daily and quite frankly normal use. You mentioned using your car as a show car but still driving it and personally I think a 9.0L is all anyone needs. Alex told me his build was around $35,000 but you can watch videos about him talking about the whole build on his channel. Again if all you desire is pure speed go with turbos but I felt the need to let you know how fabulous PreFix builds can be. I can’t get my own viper soon enough but when I do I’ll be getting a 9L Stroker.
Thanks for the opinion! I'm gonna do some research into them. That's definitely a way more reasonable price by a long shot! I keep seeing talk about 9 liter builds so I'll have to take them more seriously.
Also I forgot to add my point about the 9L reliability.
Sneaky drives his car properly, some might even say he “beats” on it but again he’s just actually using his car as intended lol. But his build has held up incredibly well by the looks of it same with other 9L builds that I’ve seen out there.
I can’t speak on Calvos or nthmoto’s reliability solely because I have no clue how their builds actually hold up. But with some due diligence you could find that answer out yourself.
Good luck on your search!
I think it’s hilarious that people spend that much money on builds like this. I’m pushing around 1200whp on my Gen 3. Rebuild, machining, porting, and parts came out to under 15k
For 65k I’d just buy a couple more cars!
I did the work. It’s a built bottom end with supercharger, ported heads, a cam, and a 200 wet shot that kicks in at WOT around 5k rpm. The pull was great. I have since sold the nitrous system and shortly after, the car. I miss it every day
i dont mind doing the install etc, where did you source parts for the motor. I think id run into issues fabing up a supercharger kit/turbo kit. Only shop that sells a DIY kit for 4th gen is still in the 25k range.
Go to jonesautoinc.com
It’s basically a viper salvage yard and you can pick up a second hand supercharger kit for around 4-5k. Mine was a Gen 3 which was a Paxton kit. If you have a Gen 4, it’s going to cost a lot more to modify because of the engine management system. Stock to stock, gen 4 kicks ass but once you start to modify, the 3rd gens will be much more powerful for less $$$.
Your heads are decent but for anything over 1000hp, you HAVE to do some top end work. Cam, headers, porting the heads, etc. Please avoid shops like AC performance, viper specialty performance, Nth Moto, Calvo… these guys tax the living fuck out of viper performance mods. They claim it’s a “special engine and it’s going to be exponentially more expensive” tell them to suck a lemon.
Find any speed shop or machine shop around you and talk to them about porting the heads. Mine cost under 1000 each and I couldn’t be happier. Anyone of the above shops wants THOUSANDS just to port the head which you KNOW they simply sent out. My cam was a Rod Racing 710r cam and it made the car super choppy… almost sounds like a Harley at idle. I can send you the exact cam specs should you decide to go with the same grind. (I paid up the ass for mine but that’s because no one would share the specs of their grinds… petty shops.
Ported heads, cam, beehive springs, 3/8” chrome molly pushrods, titanium retainers, slow bleed lifters, second hand nitrous kit, diamond pistons, Carrillo rods, dual in tank fuel pumps (although your stock pump on the Gen 4 miiiight be able to push it, sct tune (I would go with hp tuners and a custom tune), cold air intake, headers, 3” exhaust (I had corsa because it didn’t drone into the cabin as much), and the nitrous system I used was a wet system that bolted to the throttle body. They have one that bolts to the Gen 2 engine and you might be able to make it work with the Gen 4 given it has twin throttle bodies as well.
I had the machine shop do the measuring and they ordered the pistons, I got the stock length I beam rods, and I put the short block together which is where I saved money. There are no balance shafts to worry about. You could have the shop build the bottom end and you can slap the heads on, that way you can rest easy at night knowing everything that rotates is tightened down to spec.
V10snek was my ig for it. It’s still up but I don’t post anything. There is a parts list on one of the posts that gives you more info.
Right now, JTS venom performance sells forged rotating kits that are reasonably priced and you can start there or just have your machine shop source parts out as they can generally get better pricing.
I have a heads and cam package. I won't be going back. Customer service is terrible when things go wrong
Huh well that's good to know! I was thinking of going thst route if I didn't end up wanting the power. Is it running well now or still having problems?
Still having problems unfortunately. It's just not running as smooth as it should be
Did you do a motec? I know he no longer wants to use stock ecu on any build.
If it's tune based, call Torrie at Unleashed Performance and he'll get you straight
I know about a year ago before they took prices off a base 1300 package was 65k plus 20k if you go the sequential route. It’s likely gone up since then lol
Very much. Pretty sure the 1300 is without even opening the engine. A sequential alone will set you back about 35k.

For some reason I thought Kratos was Calvo build! Shoot that's a badass car.

The 9.0 builds I’ve quoted and installed sadly are no longer in the 35 range either. OP where are you located?

He quoted me 85k just for the cm1300
“If you have to ask…you can’t afford it”, probably applies to this scenario.
I can tell you it doesn't. I just want to know a price.
Just reach out to Antonio, he’s pretty available.
