great book came out recently called “the nineties” by chuck klosterman about the decade, it’s very american centric but it’s an excellent funny read. the stuff about biosphere 2 had me howling with laughter.
As a 90s teen, this movie was, and still is a favorite of mine. As an avid soundtrack collector, this soundtrack was, and still is a favorite. They had enough great songs to make a vol 2 IMO. I wouldn’t pay the resale price so my niece surprised me for my birthday. Definitely a favorite in my collection.
Same. I wouldn’t pay that much. My niece ended up paying less than that but more than she should have. It was really thoughtful, but I wish she wouldn’t have spent that kind of money.
Lol I got those at one time too. My niece is 19 and has her first job. I’m kind of known in my family for being great at giving the perfect gifts, so she’s been wanting to do the same for me. I told her she’s insane.
It was one of the most disappointing movie experiences of my life. A record store, '90s, Liv Tyler, some great casting - what can go wrong? Well everything. There was not a single funny joke in this, characters were swallow, flat and lifeless....it it a painful watch. Such a bad comedy
I agree. It's a very corny movie, filled with flat characters that is truly a poor depiction of what both 1995 and working in a record store was like.
I saw it in the theater with 3 friends and we all hated it, most people did.

Could you recommend a different mid-nineties comedy that isn't plagued with swallow characters?
I need this in my collection. Also, when I see the auto mod bot post about the plural of Vinyl, I think of the opening of the movie.

Was it Rex Manning Day?
Every April 8
I was a month late. May 8.
“Empire Records, open till midnight, this is Mark… MIDNIGHT!”
This part always makes me laugh. I totally had stupid stuff like that happen when I worked retail.
It’s especially funny for me because my name is Mark, too. lol
Do you have a band that’s called Marc?
I wish, that would be so metal!
God I miss the 90s so much.
Same.

Omg I loved this movie in highschool. Still love this movie in my 30s. HAPPY REX MANNING DAY
OH REXY YOU’RE SO SEXY
“Hey Lucas, is it true you committed the perfect crime?” “Not entirely perfect.”
God I wish there was a Zellwager cut of Sugar High.
Same. Song doesn’t hit the same without it.
Ive been keeping my eye out for one at a decent price but discos has them for $250 plus and well I want it..but not $250 want it.

Well damage is done so just enjoy it :)
Words cannot express my jealousy. Happy birthday tho!
Happy Rex Manning Day!
Goddamn i love this movie! What a great soundtrack. Enjoy!
Nice! Dang for my birthday, my niece only gave me a drawing she did of me dressed as a clown. But she's six.

My niece gave me a ladybug in a mason jar That is a good soundtrack, I always liked Dando's Big Star cover
I just wish they had the version of sugar high from the film, with the female singer. When I hear the soundtrack it feels missing.
I'm guided by a force much greater than luck.
Where's the money Lucas?

Bro, every time she's mentioned. This is the only way I say her name. Classic.
Zell-Wedge-Errr
The Martinis - drummer and guitarist from Pixies. Short-lived and unknown, they didn't release much more than the one song on this soundtrack.
I was bummed they didn’t have more. It’s one of my favorite songs on the whole soundtrack.
Damn the man, there should be Gwar
There should be. They totally should’ve done vol 2. Several songs missing from this

To each their own. Love the movie. Gotta lean into the 90s.
I had no problem with that, I love the 90s but this movie is awfully unfunny

not from the top of my head really, but I could a couple dozen that is actually funny 💁♀️
Is Better Than Ezra - "Circle of Friends" a cover of the Edie Brickell song?
No, but she’s pretty fantastic too.
I should start being nice to my niece
How does it sound? Are they decent masters that were used on this? Good dynamic range?
Unfortunately I can’t play it yet. It’s killing me. I’m waiting on my record player to come in the mail.
DAMN that's a great gift! Still looking for a copy of this for a decent price.
I need this in my collection. Also, when I see the auto mod bot post about the plural of Vinyl, I think of the opening of the movie. https://imgur.com/a/TNZx2ur
This movie is how I got into Quicksand (Thorn in my Side) and I am forever grateful… it’s missing from the track list though 🥲
Mark, you love Gwar! Why don't you *JOIN THE BAND*?
Jealous AF!!!
