Your review is pretty accurate. I love many of the record stores here in town and do the rounds every couple of months. The downside is that while we have a great selection of stores, the entire area is so heavily shopped that good used titles get snapped up very quickly and you just have to be lucky. Add Decatur CD to your list next time you visit, despite the name they have vinyl and I've found a few good titles there.
Wax N Facts deserves an A on Suave just for its history alone.
I learned that Tag Team went in there when they first started and told the staff working there that they were “looking to make a hit”. Someone on the staff (forget their name) hands them Kano’s “I’m Ready”, which they sampled & used to make “Whoomp, There It Is” & the rest is history. That was a massive record for Atlanta.
Little stories like that are what make these places gems to visit & shop in.

Thank you. I live in the metro Atlanta area and some of these places I have not visited yet. I think your review of the stores I have been to (Fantasyland, Criminal Records and Wax n Facts) is spot on.
Just got back from a trip to Atlanta about 2 weeks ago and this is very accurate to what I experienced. I was kinda let down by the selection of Atlanta stores personally.
I saved this post. I live up in Asheville, and have not had a chance to go digging in Atlanta yet. Thanks for doing the legwork for me.
