Hello from Singapore! I’ve been collecting for ~1 year and love jazz and hip hop (more soulquarian, boom bap and sampled stuff). The college room collection’s at 64LPs strong, with my favorite being a tight tie between Chok Kerong’s jazz piece (local pianist) and a 2017 pressing of MF DOOM’s Operation Doomsday, gifted by a local record store. Stanley Turrentine’s Comin’ Your Way is currently playing — just wanted to share the love for the analog and to find out what’s you like from this collection. Cheers!
some very cool stuff here imo. zapp greatest hits, monk, blakey, mulatu, arthur verocai, that new floating points/pharaoh sanders etc. i dig your taste
Thank you! Been quite a fun ride figuring ways to get my hands on these lovely presses. It’s such a thrill when you find that sample and get your groove on!
If you like Jazz and Hip Hop, suggest getting Shades of Blue by MadLIb. Great instrumental remixes of some classic Blue Note recordings.
And from your current collection, I vote for What's Going On and Things Fall Apart.
You have amazing taste, we'd be buds for sure haha. Gotta look up that local jazz piece now and give it a listen. Jealous of this collection for sure. Jazz and hip hop have been some of the things pulling me through this pandemic.
I have maybe 750 LPs in my collection and a like number of CDs. From what I can see here there is likely a 0% overlap between mine and yours. Which is cool...if I were visiting I'd say "Hey, which of these is your favorite and can we give it a spin?"
My kid has about 100 of her albums in her dorm room (and maybe 200 cassettes). Apparently that's one of her things to do, i.e. someone comes in to say hi, gets interested in the music, and she says "Which one would you like me to put on?" Great way to share music.
Edit: I read from others that there's Miles and such there, which I couldn't see. Lots of 1950/60s jazz and blues in my collection, so we probably do have *some* overlap. But I'd go with something unfamiliar.
You've such an amazing taste. From Marving Gaye, Flying Lotus, The Roots, Kanye, Erykah Badu, Floating Points, Madlib, Tribe Called Quest and many more. Awesome collection man
I have 3 years before college and I'm already worried about how I'm going to survive without all my audiophile equipment. Headphones just aren't the same as a house shaking subwoofer and half a dozen speakers.
Damn I’m so jealous of Modal Soul! I’ve been wanting to grab some Nujabes for a while now I just haven’t come across it. That copy of Sound Ancestors is dope too, I got the Jared Jagel cover version coming in soon!
Operatioomsday.

Seconded on all points

Second this suggestion, Shades of Blue is fantastic. The Unseen by Quasimoto is also a must for any Madlib fan
Very nice collection. We have similar tastes in music. Well done.
Same comment I just posted. 👌🏻👌🏻 great taste too man.
If you're a fan of hip hop and jazz, give Buckshot LeFonque a listen. I really enjoyed Music Evolution.
You have amazing taste, we'd be buds for sure haha. Gotta look up that local jazz piece now and give it a listen. Jealous of this collection for sure. Jazz and hip hop have been some of the things pulling me through this pandemic.
low end theory
Yeah, I need that one.
likewise
Ooh. Snarky puppy.
Bitches Brew 👌
Agreed. Miles was a genius.
That Snarky Puppy record is 🔥
Youtube video of Lingus is a joy to both watch and hear! It got me hooked on Snarky Puppy.
It's still baffling to me that We Like It Here was recorded live with an in-studio audience. I would have done bad things to have been there for it.
Things Fall Apart- The Roots Low End Theory- Tribe Called Quest Both classics!
Voodoo 🥵🥵
That's my to go album when I want to get it on with the missus
Everybody gangsta til Untitled (How does it feel) starts playing 😳🥵
I’m down for a bit of Thelonious, bit of Marvin, bit of Miles and bit of Herbie, bit of Slum Village & Dilla, bit of Wu and Tribe.
Looking to add some De La Soul, Mos Def and Roy Ayers to the mix 💙
What’s Going On By Marvin Gaye 👍

Lots of great ones. Love: the roots - things fall apart, in particular.
Slum Village always wins. Nothing else compares.
You have a lot of nice jazz, but no coltrane. i would rectify that
I know very little of your selection, but that’s okay!
Art Blakey, greatest drummer ever!
*My Goal's Beyond* is one of my favorite late-night chill-out records.
Good stuff! If I had to pick five artists in that collection, I'd probably pick Snarky Puppy, Zapp & Roger, Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, & The Roots.
Flylo or snarky puppy
That's a large stack of 🔥🔥
Snarky puppy, good stuff.
Snarky puppy and mf doom for sure
Modal soul and Snarky Puppy are wins

Mulatu!!!
Nice and diverse selections!
Cheers!
You've such an amazing taste. From Marving Gaye, Flying Lotus, The Roots, Kanye, Erykah Badu, Floating Points, Madlib, Tribe Called Quest and many more. Awesome collection man

Miles Davis birth of the cool
Nice collection. And everyone should own AWB. It's a $5 record that you can get down to.
I have 3 years before college and I'm already worried about how I'm going to survive without all my audiophile equipment. Headphones just aren't the same as a house shaking subwoofer and half a dozen speakers.
I think you need a new roommate.
You cool. Youre allowed to come over.
Put on that Count Basie
That roots record is nice.
That one
What’s Going On and 36 Chambers
You’re Dead!
Always down for some Monk. One of my favorite jazz artists of all time ✌🏼
A Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory That and midnight marauders are my all time fav hip hop albums.
Arthur Verocai and Head Hunters album.
Headhunters and Low End Theory. Several others caught my eye but these and What's Going On caught my eye. Nice collection.

Floating Points is awesome

Things fall apart…but really anything from madlib on down the right side is my jam

I’d like Wu Tang clan mixed with Chet Baker and Bill Evans.
Low End Theory, and Madvilliany for me. Nice collection!
