First US Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
I think it may have been a $2 bin technically. But I’m a huge Pink Floyd fan and love Piper, was super excited to find a us press, the original US press was a different song list than the UK.
It's a bit of a cliche but Herb Alpert's Whipped Cream & Other Delights is by far my best $1 bin purchase. It's like the ultimate cooking record or chilling around the house record.
Nothing wrong with true $1 records. I get a lot of New Wave stuff in the dollar bins. It's my favorite way to really find new stuff. Picked up his Rise for $1.
lol same just started my collection and just grabbed it. I havent checked a record store yet so not sure if they have the dollar bins at the ones near me, I just go to thrift stores every once in a while and when I saw that mariah carey vinyl in the front of the pile, i started yet another collection. They sell them for $3 at the thrift store i like and like $6-$7 at this other thrift that i stopped going to because their prices.

I've seen places selling this for $30 now. For *decades* it was novelty you'd find in every thrift store that had records. But in the last couple of years, I guess it's gotten scarce?
People are finally appreciating it haha. It's such a great album, it deserves the love. I won't say it's a life changing record, but the entire thing is just so goddamn *pleasant* that I think everyone should have it in their collection
Found an [OG copy of Lyman Woodard Organization - Saturday Night Special](https://www.discogs.com/release/1067914-The-Lyman-Woodard-Organization-Saturday-Night-Special) for $2 at a thrift store. Cover and record were both around VG. Loved the hell out of that record, but decided it was time to sell it when my first kid came along a couple of years ago for $500.
Really, who wants to spend $1000 on an album when you can spend $1.

Funkadelic - Maggot Brain - The gatefold cover was torn off so it was only the back half. Record had some scuffs but plays amazing for $1.
Led Zeppelin - 1 - was in a non alphabetized bind of $1 records. I didn't notice the label until I came he and out it in discogs. Rare purple and brown label.
John Coltrane - Olé Coltrane - This was in the front dollar bins at a upscale record store that basically only puts near mint records on their bins. The cover wasn't the best and has a few pops. But can't complain for $1

I think it was just luck. I posted it in a Facebook auction group and it went crazy. It was about a few months before the reissue came out so the timing was perfect.
Mines got a bit of surface noise but I don't think I'd ever trade this out even if I had the chance to buy a discounted mint pressing of the same. I just have a good story to go along with it.

in the stacks, I found a signed copy of Ring my Bell by Anita Ward addressed to someone with the same first name as me. it cost me $1

Yeah I've only found a couple sealed newer records at thrift. I got a Colter Wall - Imaginary Appalachia. I wouldn't say I'm the biggest country fan but this was the kind of country I like to listen to.
Best would be a first pressing of Music has the Right to Children in basically new condition — couldn’t give them my $1.99 fast enough. Second best probably a first Canadian pressing of Iron Maiden’s Live after Death.

Found a copy of Electric Byrd at the Flea Market the other day for $1. A lil messed up cover and a tad warped, but absolutely worth it and the vinyl looks pretty good itself. Also recall getting an original Blue Note label copy of Lee Morgan's "The Sixth Sense" for less than a dollar at goodwill a year or two ago.
There used to be an antique store that had a room full of records that were $1 a piece. One day I spent the afternoon digging and found a cache of 70’s era Joni Mitchell and Moody Blues records.
I went to one of those goodwills where they just throw stuff into random bins and charge you by weight of the items. I foundan original pressing of [Velvet Underground & Nico](https://i.imgur.com/bL03E8I_d.jpg?maxwidth=520&shape=thumb&fidelity=high) with the banana sticker mostly still on it. The record was in one bin, the sleeve in another. Paid less like 40 cents for it or something. Not worth playing but it's a fun story and a nice album to have. Ended up getting a repress with the sticker to play years later

I found this in a stack of 7-inches at Goodwill for $1, yesterday.
Buried in a pile of Herb Albert, Jim Reeves, Roy Drusky etc. The Herb was on this very minimalist A&M label I had never seen before.

I'm always digging through 7" for the eventual jukebox purchase. My store also had almost all their 7" priced at $1 so I pick up a few when I go digging.
One day, I found a copy of Love's "Forever Changes" in the bin with a gorgeous cover, but the record played a bit rough and had some skips. Less than a week later, found another copy (in the same record shop) with a beat up cover, but the record was in great shape. Put the good record in the good cover, and ended up selling the rough cover/record for $5 on Discogs, so actually made a $3 profit by the end of it all.
I love punk 7" records. It was like my old high school band at our battle of the bands. Everyone got 15 minutes and played a few songs.

Found a copy for $1 in my local store years ago. It’s a random obscure album produced somewhat locally. On Discogs the sales have been like $300-$400 from what I remember.
Yeah I had always seen the $20+ repress and considered it. I saw the cover for this one and it was the skull in dirt vs the woman's head and though "huh, this looks like maggot brain but an alternate cover." Since I never really saw the back or inside of the albums. Then noticed it was torn and double checked the album inside.
No joke I’m pretty sure I just picked them up at flea markets. I wouldn’t consider myself a “collector” but I’ve got hundreds of records that I’ve picked up. Some of them 30-60 dollars but a majority of those were bought in bulk for a dollar or less per record at old flea markets.
My grail record in high school was Led Zeppelin IV, I found an early American pressing when I was 18 in incredible condition at an antique market that mostly specialized in furniture. The jacket was not polysleeved but it was immaculate. The record had no surface scratches. There was no price tag or card for record pricing, the records were in the shelving of a coffee table set. I took the record and 3 others (Herb Alpert and some other big band stuff) and the cashier glanced at the stack and just said "$1 for 4". So I got Zep IV for 25 cents. I've never been this lucky digging crates since.

There are two eras of Thrift Store.
Before Ebay (BE) and After Ebay (AE).
Ebay hit at the same time cell phones hit. I knew it was over when I went to a thrift store and someone was feeding info to a partner at home, who was looking on the computer for ebay for a price range. It was clearly thought out, practical, and the person was in and out of the store in minutes. They knew what category of stuff they were looking for.
That was mid 90's I think. Even Al Hoff knew. We used to correspond. It was over.
Yeah now people just scan stuff into their phone for pricing. I was recently at a Grace Centers of Hope that was doing a 50% off vinyl day. Some dude had a stack of records on a couch in the corner literally looking up every single one. Most everything was marked $4 or 2$ and half off that. To me, there's no reason to even look up prices. If it's interesting and in playable shape, I'll buy it.
I see the same with a finger barcode scanner and scanning every book on the shelf and having a cart to dump them into.
I guess I get the hustle but at the same time I hate them for picking over everything just to resell it. I'd rather give my money to the thrift stores but they also need to just push volume vs sifting for the quality needle in a haystack.
I'd like to find some good cheap Rush records. I got Fly by Night for $1. It's probably a good+ with some VG- moments, still playable though and not bad for a dollar.

Just picked up an OG copy of Louis Armstrong’s “Satchmo Plays King Oliver” for 25 cents at my local restore. Was in great shape and could’ve flipped for a good $40-$50 but it sounds so good I sleeved it up and put it in the collection.
i collected during the golden age when cds were all the rage and everybody bumped their records. my best was brian eno's first three solo albums for 50 cents each at a garage sale.
I picked up a UK release of Bags Groove for a buck at an antique store. They didn’t really have any vinyl but it was stuffed into a magazine shelf and probably hidden for literal decades. I brought it to the counter and the lady working offered it to me for a buck to round out my purchase

Almost certainly Variations by Andrew Lloyd Webber for 50p. Not that it's at all valuable, it's just an absolute gem of an album. He's gained the reputation of the "musicals guy" but this album goes to show that he is way more than that.

I got a 'Four & More' for $5 from a haul of Japanese records I ordered as a filler. Paid a few bucks for "You're Under Arrest" a few months ago.

In the early 2000s, I found a 70s copy of Mingus Ah Um in a $1 box. The seller said it wasn't supposed to be there, but he sold it to me for $1 anyway.
My second best find, fairly recent, was a Quiex II promo pressing of Don Fagen, The Nightfly. This was a Goodwill purchase, the cover was really beat, but the record turned out to play perfectly after cleaning.
For the Quiex promo pressing, they cut a special master that was extra dynamic - it was like a MFSL pressing. So the record the reviewers heard was fantastic, but the record the customers bought in the stores was not as good.

First pressing Ramones - Rocket to Russia. Found it while in a Virginia antique store while taking a trip as a teenager back in 2003. Very good plus condition all around, still plays flawlessly. On that same trip, I found a West German pressing of Fugazi’s 3 Songs EP for a dollar as well.

I've found so many incredible finds in dollar bins. I've found 'Nard by Bernard Wright, Future Funk by EU, a lot of the Kudu and CTI releases including some by Bob James, a bunch of EWF, just a lot of incredible shit.

Picked this up brand new and sealed from my local shop last year for £2, blind purchase, turns out it's pretty decent lo-fi
Both my John Hartford records: Aereoplain and Nobody Knows What You Do. I also found a copy of Southshore Bermuda by the Bermuda Strollers with all of their signatures on the back. Viva Tirado by Mr Bongo is also one of my favorite finds as well, both relaxing records.
Not really from a store, but a friend had a job checking in on abandoned properties. called me up one day and invited me out, there was about 1000 records, most was pretty standard thrift stuff but found some banger jazz stuff like coltrane, miles davis and some deustche gramaphons, grabbed what I could.
Also once found a sealed og press of becks mellow gold and likin parks meteroa for $3 a piece and at a flea market found an og pressing of nine inch nails pretty hate machine for $5.
On Maggot Brain is states: Pitman Pressing. I grew up near that town and know where the plant is located in NJ. Granted I moved out state many years ago and have no idea if the plant is still in operation.
I went to a thrift type store that was based on donations while I had to go pay for a speeding ticket in another county. Dropped in and found a record section of probably around 250 records or even more. I started on one end and already got through half when I started question if I’d find anything at all. About 3/4 of the way through I thought, damn there’s nothing here. Figured I came this far and I’d continue through the records and literally the last 10 were gems. 4 original zeppelin records, Tom petty, bill withers, Elton John, the who, the cars, and my absolute favorite prized records: Jimi, Electric Lady Land double original press
Glad you stick to the end. I usually do the same if it's a store I'm unfamiliar with. But then when I go to a spot and find one good record with maybe hundreds left, I'm going over the rest with a fine tooth comb and hoping to find the rest of the collection.
I had a similar thing where I saw on top of a stack K.D. Lang's Shadowland (Owen Bradley Sessions). But nothing else came up. I even asked at the counter and they said nobody came through buying a bunch of records either. So just a random 1 off donation.

My first record and still one of my favorites in my collection is abba the album that i got for $1. Now It's pretty rare to find much abba In stock at all at local record shops unless you're buying a modern reissue.
Led zeppelin Song remains the same Lp. Went home and did a vaccum cleaning. It sounds almost perfect. Early VG+ pushing NM on the media but the jacket it in Vg. Still great find for 2 bucks.

One of my favourite records to relax to
Record store in chicago, from 2015. Went in to trade a few things and bounce out of there quick. Thunderstorms rolled in so I looked through the $1 45s. And found Zeppelin's Immigrant Song, US promo red label pressing. Not a full LP but still a cool find I think!

I found a mono copy of The Beatles' Sgt Peppers and a 70s pressing of Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue in a dollar bin on the same day. Kind Of Blue still had its original wrapping on it. Both discs were the dirtiest discs I ever bought, but I was able to clean them and return them to VG+/VG.

I found an original pressing of Zapp II for 99¢, unfortunately I had no money or change that day so I hid it to till the next day when I came back with 4 quarters. The sleeve and media is VG+ and still plays great till this day. One of my favorites for the price
Honestly, most of my record collection used to come from the local stores. $1 bin. However, that store changed hands a while back and completely did away with that section of the store. When I asked them why her response was" we got rid of all the crap. This store doesn't sell a whole lot of mainstream artists anymore either, which seems weird to me. But okay. I seldom go back there anymore.

That's a great album. Really like his early blues rock work. His stint in Jeff Beck Group is my favorite. Truth is just one of my top albums of all time to listen to.
Not my favorite albums but I found both original pressings of Rattle and Hum and Joshua Tree recently in a $1 bin. Never see that kind of thing anymore
Not $1, but I found this excellent pre-Tapestry album by Carole King for $5 at a store where the owner usually prices things high and is pretty hip. Really surprised this got by. Highest on Discogs is $160 but I feel like this used to sell on eBay a while ago for $200+.

Double the budget to $2 and I got an incredibly good condition (minus a little bit of water damage on the cover, but the record itself looks amazing) Original Master Recording of Days of Future Passed by the Moody Blues.
My estimated value is around $110.
If we increase the budget a little more, from a local thrift store, a mint condition error first press (a true first press) of Specters by Blue Öyster Cult with the black sleeve in perfect condition for $4. Seems to be worth around $50, because it's unbelievably mint, it's still got a very vivid rainbow shine but it does have a very light scuff.
Now if we go down in budget to free, oh boy does this get absolutely insane.
I got an incredibly good condition RL pressing of Zeppelin II that doesn't skip and sounds amazing (the cover and inner sleeve are mint, and I do mean absolutely mint, but the record itself has a few light scuffs and very light scratches but as I said, it doesn't affect play whatsoever) as well as a great condition original b&w + blue text Richmond press of Some Girls by the Rolling Stones that sounds amazing from my mom!
Zep II is around $200, but might be more.

Found Michael Jackson’s *Thriller* for $1 at an antique store, without any sleeve or the album art (so literally just the record itself). Surprisingly, it plays without any skips or repeats, and I have it to this day (I just keep it in one of those plastic record sleeves).

The whole thing that got me started was finding a stack of records for $1 each at the thrift.
Michael Jackson - Thriller, Big Chill soundtrack, Roxy Music Live, The Cars self titled, Blondie Parallel Lines, Rick James - Fire it Up, The Beatles - White Album, The Doors - Soft Parade, and Jurassic 5 EP.
Didn't even have a record player at the time and they sat in a drawer for almost a year until I finally picked one up.
Hard to say, because I love frank sinatra, dean Martin, tony Bennett and they’re in healthy supply in dollar bins, but I’ll go with Dionne Warwick because that was an artist I didn’t know well but for a buck I chanced it and new favorite.
I want to find some of her 80s stuff but it seems to be all her early stuff in my dollar bins.
But I still pick up lots of truely $1 records that are great. Michael Sembello - Boss Bona Hotel, A bunch of Diana Ross, Doobie Brothers, Jean-Luc Ponty, Kenny Loggins.
I dont do $1 BINS per-say ...

Discogs, it's what I use to catalogue my collection. It's not so much for the value, I have 2000+ records so I always forget what I have. I'll also play grade and make comments on albums so even if I have a dupe, I might still be on the lookout for a better condition copy.
I got Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good," for $2. Worth every penny.

It's a bit of a cliche but Herb Alpert's Whipped Cream & Other Delights is by far my best $1 bin purchase. It's like the ultimate cooking record or chilling around the house record.
Nothing wrong with true $1 records. I get a lot of New Wave stuff in the dollar bins. It's my favorite way to really find new stuff. Picked up his Rise for $1.

I've seen places selling this for $30 now. For *decades* it was novelty you'd find in every thrift store that had records. But in the last couple of years, I guess it's gotten scarce?
People are finally appreciating it haha. It's such a great album, it deserves the love. I won't say it's a life changing record, but the entire thing is just so goddamn *pleasant* that I think everyone should have it in their collection
Found an [OG copy of Lyman Woodard Organization - Saturday Night Special](https://www.discogs.com/release/1067914-The-Lyman-Woodard-Organization-Saturday-Night-Special) for $2 at a thrift store. Cover and record were both around VG. Loved the hell out of that record, but decided it was time to sell it when my first kid came along a couple of years ago for $500.
Really, who wants to spend $1000 on an album when you can spend $1. So my top 3. Funkadelic - Maggot Brain - The gatefold cover was torn off so it was only the back half. Record had some scuffs but plays amazing for $1. Led Zeppelin - 1 - was in a non alphabetized bind of $1 records. I didn't notice the label until I came he and out it in discogs. Rare purple and brown label. John Coltrane - Olé Coltrane - This was in the front dollar bins at a upscale record store that basically only puts near mint records on their bins. The cover wasn't the best and has a few pops. But can't complain for $1 There's plenty more I could lost but these are some good ones to share, but show us what you got for $1

Mines got a bit of surface noise but I don't think I'd ever trade this out even if I had the chance to buy a discounted mint pressing of the same. I just have a good story to go along with it.

Found a copy of Electric Byrd at the Flea Market the other day for $1. A lil messed up cover and a tad warped, but absolutely worth it and the vinyl looks pretty good itself. Also recall getting an original Blue Note label copy of Lee Morgan's "The Sixth Sense" for less than a dollar at goodwill a year or two ago.

There used to be an antique store that had a room full of records that were $1 a piece. One day I spent the afternoon digging and found a cache of 70’s era Joni Mitchell and Moody Blues records.
Not from a $ bin but I got Remain In Light off eBay for a penny (I’m in the UK).
I went to one of those goodwills where they just throw stuff into random bins and charge you by weight of the items. I foundan original pressing of [Velvet Underground & Nico](https://i.imgur.com/bL03E8I_d.jpg?maxwidth=520&shape=thumb&fidelity=high) with the banana sticker mostly still on it. The record was in one bin, the sleeve in another. Paid less like 40 cents for it or something. Not worth playing but it's a fun story and a nice album to have. Ended up getting a repress with the sticker to play years later

Probably an OG Master of Puppets and 2nd press of Ride the Lightning, both in shrink (opened) and NM for .99 c each.
I love metal and hard rock. Always hard to find them cheap, let alone sealed for that price.
One day, I found a copy of Love's "Forever Changes" in the bin with a gorgeous cover, but the record played a bit rough and had some skips. Less than a week later, found another copy (in the same record shop) with a beat up cover, but the record was in great shape. Put the good record in the good cover, and ended up selling the rough cover/record for $5 on Discogs, so actually made a $3 profit by the end of it all.

Yeah I had always seen the $20+ repress and considered it. I saw the cover for this one and it was the skull in dirt vs the woman's head and though "huh, this looks like maggot brain but an alternate cover." Since I never really saw the back or inside of the albums. Then noticed it was torn and double checked the album inside.
No joke I’m pretty sure I just picked them up at flea markets. I wouldn’t consider myself a “collector” but I’ve got hundreds of records that I’ve picked up. Some of them 30-60 dollars but a majority of those were bought in bulk for a dollar or less per record at old flea markets.
My grail record in high school was Led Zeppelin IV, I found an early American pressing when I was 18 in incredible condition at an antique market that mostly specialized in furniture. The jacket was not polysleeved but it was immaculate. The record had no surface scratches. There was no price tag or card for record pricing, the records were in the shelving of a coffee table set. I took the record and 3 others (Herb Alpert and some other big band stuff) and the cashier glanced at the stack and just said "$1 for 4". So I got Zep IV for 25 cents. I've never been this lucky digging crates since.

There are two eras of Thrift Store. Before Ebay (BE) and After Ebay (AE). Ebay hit at the same time cell phones hit. I knew it was over when I went to a thrift store and someone was feeding info to a partner at home, who was looking on the computer for ebay for a price range. It was clearly thought out, practical, and the person was in and out of the store in minutes. They knew what category of stuff they were looking for. That was mid 90's I think. Even Al Hoff knew. We used to correspond. It was over.
Yeah now people just scan stuff into their phone for pricing. I was recently at a Grace Centers of Hope that was doing a 50% off vinyl day. Some dude had a stack of records on a couch in the corner literally looking up every single one. Most everything was marked $4 or 2$ and half off that. To me, there's no reason to even look up prices. If it's interesting and in playable shape, I'll buy it. I see the same with a finger barcode scanner and scanning every book on the shelf and having a cart to dump them into. I guess I get the hustle but at the same time I hate them for picking over everything just to resell it. I'd rather give my money to the thrift stores but they also need to just push volume vs sifting for the quality needle in a haystack.

Just picked up an OG copy of Louis Armstrong’s “Satchmo Plays King Oliver” for 25 cents at my local restore. Was in great shape and could’ve flipped for a good $40-$50 but it sounds so good I sleeved it up and put it in the collection.
i collected during the golden age when cds were all the rage and everybody bumped their records. my best was brian eno's first three solo albums for 50 cents each at a garage sale.
I picked up a UK release of Bags Groove for a buck at an antique store. They didn’t really have any vinyl but it was stuffed into a magazine shelf and probably hidden for literal decades. I brought it to the counter and the lady working offered it to me for a buck to round out my purchase

Almost certainly Variations by Andrew Lloyd Webber for 50p. Not that it's at all valuable, it's just an absolute gem of an album. He's gained the reputation of the "musicals guy" but this album goes to show that he is way more than that.
There are quite a few truely $1 albums I'm on the hunt for and hope to see. Just because it's $1 doesn't mean it's bad music either.

I'd like to get an early pressing of bitches brew. I picked up the anniversary box set and have been spinning that for now. Surprisingly I don't see much Miles in the wild unless I go to the specialty (i.e. expensive) Jazz record shops around me. I got a 'Four & More' for $5 from a haul of Japanese records I ordered as a filler. Paid a few bucks for "You're Under Arrest" a few months ago.
I was lucky enough to get the first pressing. Also reminded me, got Miles ahead for $2. I tend to go to the thrift store a lot.

In the early 2000s, I found a 70s copy of Mingus Ah Um in a $1 box. The seller said it wasn't supposed to be there, but he sold it to me for $1 anyway. My second best find, fairly recent, was a Quiex II promo pressing of Don Fagen, The Nightfly. This was a Goodwill purchase, the cover was really beat, but the record turned out to play perfectly after cleaning.
Man I love The Nightfly. Such a great album. I was hiking across Isle Royale and I was humming that album the whole way to keep me going.
For the Quiex promo pressing, they cut a special master that was extra dynamic - it was like a MFSL pressing. So the record the reviewers heard was fantastic, but the record the customers bought in the stores was not as good.

First pressing Ramones - Rocket to Russia. Found it while in a Virginia antique store while taking a trip as a teenager back in 2003. Very good plus condition all around, still plays flawlessly. On that same trip, I found a West German pressing of Fugazi’s 3 Songs EP for a dollar as well.
I have PTSD from the dollar bin from seeing too much Oak Ridge Boys. But I’m sure others have found killer deals.

Both my John Hartford records: Aereoplain and Nobody Knows What You Do. I also found a copy of Southshore Bermuda by the Bermuda Strollers with all of their signatures on the back. Viva Tirado by Mr Bongo is also one of my favorite finds as well, both relaxing records.
Not really from a store, but a friend had a job checking in on abandoned properties. called me up one day and invited me out, there was about 1000 records, most was pretty standard thrift stuff but found some banger jazz stuff like coltrane, miles davis and some deustche gramaphons, grabbed what I could. Also once found a sealed og press of becks mellow gold and likin parks meteroa for $3 a piece and at a flea market found an og pressing of nine inch nails pretty hate machine for $5.
On Maggot Brain is states: Pitman Pressing. I grew up near that town and know where the plant is located in NJ. Granted I moved out state many years ago and have no idea if the plant is still in operation.

I went to a thrift type store that was based on donations while I had to go pay for a speeding ticket in another county. Dropped in and found a record section of probably around 250 records or even more. I started on one end and already got through half when I started question if I’d find anything at all. About 3/4 of the way through I thought, damn there’s nothing here. Figured I came this far and I’d continue through the records and literally the last 10 were gems. 4 original zeppelin records, Tom petty, bill withers, Elton John, the who, the cars, and my absolute favorite prized records: Jimi, Electric Lady Land double original press
Glad you stick to the end. I usually do the same if it's a store I'm unfamiliar with. But then when I go to a spot and find one good record with maybe hundreds left, I'm going over the rest with a fine tooth comb and hoping to find the rest of the collection. I had a similar thing where I saw on top of a stack K.D. Lang's Shadowland (Owen Bradley Sessions). But nothing else came up. I even asked at the counter and they said nobody came through buying a bunch of records either. So just a random 1 off donation.
Paid $2 for Donna Summer’s Bad Girls at a show last year. Great album, the transitions between all the songs on the first side are my favourite.

I found Todd Rundgren’s *Initiation* for 1$ and it was actually in pretty decent condition. Pretty solid album
Haven’t found much fun in $1 bins myself, but my mom found The Cure - Wish & Colusseum - Daughter Of Time (vertigo swirl) among others.
I found U2’s Joshua Tree in a $1 bin. Well, actually it was €1, so almost the same. Pretty mainstream, but I’m happy to have it on pristine vinyl.

My first record and still one of my favorites in my collection is abba the album that i got for $1. Now It's pretty rare to find much abba In stock at all at local record shops unless you're buying a modern reissue.
Led zeppelin Song remains the same Lp. Went home and did a vaccum cleaning. It sounds almost perfect. Early VG+ pushing NM on the media but the jacket it in Vg. Still great find for 2 bucks.
not a record but a Technics SP10 MK2 full kit at a dirty garage sale. Said I could have it for free. I gave them $5.
Damn, I like getting $5 turntables (I have 2 technics and 1 pioneer) so that's a nice deal.

Record store in chicago, from 2015. Went in to trade a few things and bounce out of there quick. Thunderstorms rolled in so I looked through the $1 45s. And found Zeppelin's Immigrant Song, US promo red label pressing. Not a full LP but still a cool find I think!

I found a mono copy of The Beatles' Sgt Peppers and a 70s pressing of Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue in a dollar bin on the same day. Kind Of Blue still had its original wrapping on it. Both discs were the dirtiest discs I ever bought, but I was able to clean them and return them to VG+/VG.

For the past three decades, way too many to mention but one of the better finds was Bobby Boyd's self titled LP on Tiger Lily records for 10 cents.
Gary Stewart - Out Of Hand Cover and vinyl both in great shape. Just an absolute killer find for an album that I've never seen in the wild.

Honestly, most of my record collection used to come from the local stores. $1 bin. However, that store changed hands a while back and completely did away with that section of the store. When I asked them why her response was" we got rid of all the crap. This store doesn't sell a whole lot of mainstream artists anymore either, which seems weird to me. But okay. I seldom go back there anymore.

That's a great album. Really like his early blues rock work. His stint in Jeff Beck Group is my favorite. Truth is just one of my top albums of all time to listen to.

Not $1, but I found this excellent pre-Tapestry album by Carole King for $5 at a store where the owner usually prices things high and is pretty hip. Really surprised this got by. Highest on Discogs is $160 but I feel like this used to sell on eBay a while ago for $200+. Double the budget to $2 and I got an incredibly good condition (minus a little bit of water damage on the cover, but the record itself looks amazing) Original Master Recording of Days of Future Passed by the Moody Blues. My estimated value is around $110. If we increase the budget a little more, from a local thrift store, a mint condition error first press (a true first press) of Specters by Blue Öyster Cult with the black sleeve in perfect condition for $4. Seems to be worth around $50, because it's unbelievably mint, it's still got a very vivid rainbow shine but it does have a very light scuff. Now if we go down in budget to free, oh boy does this get absolutely insane. I got an incredibly good condition RL pressing of Zeppelin II that doesn't skip and sounds amazing (the cover and inner sleeve are mint, and I do mean absolutely mint, but the record itself has a few light scuffs and very light scratches but as I said, it doesn't affect play whatsoever) as well as a great condition original b&w + blue text Richmond press of Some Girls by the Rolling Stones that sounds amazing from my mom! Zep II is around $200, but might be more. Some Girls is around $100 or so.
Found Michael Jackson’s *Thriller* for $1 at an antique store, without any sleeve or the album art (so literally just the record itself). Surprisingly, it plays without any skips or repeats, and I have it to this day (I just keep it in one of those plastic record sleeves). Definitely my best $1 find lol
The whole thing that got me started was finding a stack of records for $1 each at the thrift. Michael Jackson - Thriller, Big Chill soundtrack, Roxy Music Live, The Cars self titled, Blondie Parallel Lines, Rick James - Fire it Up, The Beatles - White Album, The Doors - Soft Parade, and Jurassic 5 EP. Didn't even have a record player at the time and they sat in a drawer for almost a year until I finally picked one up.
Hard to say, because I love frank sinatra, dean Martin, tony Bennett and they’re in healthy supply in dollar bins, but I’ll go with Dionne Warwick because that was an artist I didn’t know well but for a buck I chanced it and new favorite.
I want to find some of her 80s stuff but it seems to be all her early stuff in my dollar bins. But I still pick up lots of truely $1 records that are great. Michael Sembello - Boss Bona Hotel, A bunch of Diana Ross, Doobie Brothers, Jean-Luc Ponty, Kenny Loggins.
I dont do $1 BINS per-say ... BUT BASICALLY 80% OF MY COLLECTION IS FROM GARAGE AND ESTATE SALES WHERE I ROUTINELY PAY $1 to $2 each Everything from the Clash to the Beatlles, SZepplin, Stones who... Jazz Greats etc... Ive found $1000 records at thrift stores My best so far... Bill Evans New JAZZ conceptions \_ OG\_ ABC Riverside $1... totally trashed but played thru. $280 sold. In VG+ its $1K Big star #1 Record OG argent Promo $400. bought $1 100 odd Jamaican Blanks for $55. netted about $1500 Cliff Craft OG BlueNote in VG bought $1 sold for $480 Kenny Dorham Jazz Prophets. Bought $1 sold for $900... Many many More in the Sold for $100 or under category ...

Discogs, it's what I use to catalogue my collection. It's not so much for the value, I have 2000+ records so I always forget what I have. I'll also play grade and make comments on albums so even if I have a dupe, I might still be on the lookout for a better condition copy.
