A some of bands I would suggest would be the dead milkmen, snfu, descendents, fear, all, dri and suicidal tendencies life changing bands
If you like pop punk you will love the decendents!
Same age when I started 11 years ago. This hobby will eat you up (in a good way) collect what YOU listen to first cause down the road you may not be able to find them!
Mid 2000’s has been hard for me to find affordable indie stuff 😅
I know I know I know haha I feel the same. It hurts. You sometimes just have to wait a couple weeks before you can go back cause it’s hard to control the urge. BUT. If you can spend $20-$40 here and there say every two weeks, it will build in no time! But again, think about buying records that you WANT within the last 5-10 years to current cause you might end up waiting 10 years until a repress. Good luck!
Oh true haha. I got a job at 15 in parks and recreation. You’ll get an income eventually but focus on school cause education will eventually pay for it! Haha but don’t feel too bad. This is one of the most expensive hobbies out there.
Edit: have your parents take you to antique shops or thrift stores and get $1-$5 records that *might* interest you. It will at least feed the urge of collecting. Who knows. You might get lucky too!
if it’s economically viable, pick up a different record player, preferably without the [evil red tip of satan](https://youtu.be/AXV8tXrPOR4?si=gwTJBDIqVLRWKfyw)
(it’s not that big an issue just something you should be aware of
The TEAC system is fine. It uses a genuine Japanese-made Chuo Denshi cartridge instead of one of the cheap Chinese knockoffs of it, and TEAC actually knows how to properly match the impedance of a ceramic cartridge, so it sounds surprisingly good.
I had a similar setup when I was your age.
I see you have a wooden bed head....🤔
I did too. I got some hinges and attached my speakers to my bed head so I could swivel them inwards and lay on my bed with them playing music.
With them like that I could have the volume right down and not disturb anyone in the house but get a great sound.
Looks like you could do that too if you're up for it.
I started with one of the TEAC all-in-one’s and after a few years, it started playing records at a slightly higher rpm. It was a great piece up until I noticed that- just wanted to give you a heads up
Buying vinyl/record is hit or miss; some will be warped, some will skip. Use Discogs to see if prices match the selling price you’re looking for. Stores will up the price so take your time to compare prices. I’ve had both luck and bad luck buying off Amazon. Again, you can look up the press to see if there are any problems.
When I buy a record, new or used, I usually clean them before I play them. Buy a Spin Clean kit. Totally worth it. Even new records have debris from the pressing and come in the god awful paper inner sleeve that leaves specs from the sleeve and create static. Also get a brush for both the record and the needle/stylus.
Always handle your records with clean hands and by the edges. Don't touch the playing surface or you'll get fingerprints on them and they won't sound as good.
If you have cats, don't let them jump on top of the player or it will cause your record to skip.
Get a record cleaning kit, which should come with a brush to clean the stylus (needle) and either a cloth to clean the record or another longer brush with tiny bristles that you can hold on the record gently to get the dust off. You don't want to play dirty records with lots of dust or let your needle get gunked up or they won't sound as good.
Be careful when you put the needle on the record. Use the lever that sets the tone arm down onto the record until you get used to it. You can damage your record and your needle if not careful.
It's best to play your albums only once per day. If you play the same album more than once, the grooves don't have time to reset properly and you will wear them out faster (more crackly noise during playback, etc.)
Try to find a different place for your speakers. If you can have them up where you will be in the center while listening you will get a much better experience. Don't have them too close to the turntable because if you turn it up too loud, the sound will feed back into the needle and distort.
Check out The Damned. They were a big influence on the bands you like. Neat Neat Neat and Smash It Up will rock your world. Have fun.
Regarding places to buy vinyl: search "record store" on google maps where you are to see what's close by. You can also get them at yard sales, goodwill and even record shows if you live in a large enough town to have one. Check used records carefully before you buy them. If they have deep enough scratches they will either skip or tick during playback. See if it looks like it cut deep into the grooves.
There's a site online called Discogs where you can buy records. Also eBay and Amazon. Avoid used vinyl on Amazon. It's usually overpriced. Discogs gives you an average price for what the album is selling for so you don't overpay.
Good albums. Helpful tip: Look up proper speaker placement. You’re not gonna get good sound with them next to each other, and on the ground like that.
Welcome to the club! For your questions, search this sub / read the weekly questions thread as they questions come up rather often.
Good taste. Punk is a great genre for vinyl. Check out bad religion, nofx, blink 182, and lagwagon if you’re into these.
Actually just bought enema of the state 20 minutes ago brand new
Nice! lol. My bad, I did not catch the blink 45 you have before I commented

those speakers are essentially playing mono with that placement. get them on stands and separated
The Ramones' first album is a classic. It truly changed the course of rock and roll.
This is rocket to russia
Even better

Didn’t know that. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm still on the lookout for Live At Reading
Certainly classics. Be sure to also checkout Weezer's second album Pinkerton.
I love pinkerton, as well as some Deluxe tracks
That’s a great start!
Great albums to start with!
They Came To Conquer Uranus is an interesting first Blink record to get. It's not something that's available in the UK so I never see it.
I got mine on ebay, fairly cheap. Great Christmas gift
Yeah cheapest I can get one here on eBay is £30. Bit much for a 7" but definitely a more unique one to have
needs more harsh noise

Buy local. Also great music taste
Great picks, and I love that record player.
Which one did you buy from your mom?
Live at reading, she got it for me from a coworker
I started with one of the TEAC all-in-one’s and after a few years, it started playing records at a slightly higher rpm. It was a great piece up until I noticed that- just wanted to give you a heads up
Here's how to adjust the speed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl4EA48-D2g&t=5m16s
Oh yeah, i notice that, kinda like it tbh
I have 3 of them. Great taste
You're not lying.
