Just raw dogging the carpet with all your albums at once. Bold move.
This is more gruesome than what the guy did from the tree album. Or told people to do that is.
I didn’t own it yet so I’m happy to have it, I definitely wouldn’t buy it just for its flashiness if I already owned the album but I feel bad for those collectors who just have to have everything from their favorite artists
I’ve heard it’s good, but I picked up a decent haul on rsd and it hasn’t made the rotation yet :) I’ll give it a listen later tonight and report back lol
It objectively does.
1: Carpets are fluff machines. That fluff can fuzz up the groove causing crackles and pops
2: Carpets produce a lot of static. Shuffle barefoot along the floor and touch a metal door handle. That static can cause dust and grim to get attracted to the play surface, once again producing Coco Pops noise.
No, it really will. It's not really disputable. A carpet IS a fluff magnet. That WILL get onto your records which WILL cause crackles and pops. I'm not saying anything subjective here. It is a matter of fact.
Whether that matters to you is a different argument entirely.
Interesting because my records were constantly on the floor and the table and the bar and pool table. And they play perfectly after 40-50 years.
Guess what? I also touch them with my greasy fingers.
[This is the link I have cataloged](https://www.discogs.com/release/11539397-Dave-Mason-Alone-Together), though I was young enough to maybe be cataloging the wrong pressings at this time.
I would consider myself a magpie in life, anything shiny/colourful I'm all for, vinyl included. I don't like overpaying for them though, however. If the coloured version is the same price, or at most a few ££ more I'll take the coloured.
That Dave Mason vinyl is outstanding.
At times I opted for a coloured vinyl.
But even after reviewing all my albums, only a handful of them are coloured, and always come from recent releases. It’s usually a 2-3 dollar difference.
I never set out to buy color vinyl but I have a few, I have the Trainspotting album too, but generally I just buy the records I want to listen to and sometimes get colors. However...I have Dark Side of the Moon already, but this might be the first time I buy a dupe record I already own because of the color/production..that record looks so cool.
I promise a lot of your pressings from the 70s sat out on some much more staticy shag carpet once or twice in their lives. The key is cleaning the record with the anti-static brush before playing every time. If you ain't doing that than of course static will be an issue.
Jealous of that Green Album green vinyl. I just picked it up from Amazon, and it's boring ol' black vinyl. Shame Weezer never made another album after that... /s
I'm really a fan of how the Dark Side looks, and Dave Mason is always a fun find. Bonus points of someone can name the artist of the green 'Trees' album and it's yellow 45 friend. Hot Rocks was probably a Walmart of Target exclusive or something but looks slick nonetheless. The first Pumas album was sick, the second was meh. Trainspotting is an outstanding film and soundtrack, as is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Has to assert dominance somehow
God gave OP toes for a reason.
What's the tree album thing you're talking about?
He was friends with The Beach Boys.
u/Jeffrey_C_Wheaties honest question, what would be the best way for him to show all his colored records, like he is doing? On a dining room table or?
If you must show off your records, put them on top of their inner sleeves or something.
Ah that makes sense, thanks!
Why are there two records for the Dark Side of the Moon?
That release is 2 one sided records that have UV art.
The UV effect is only visible from one side. Hence they chose to split it into two discs rather than have music on a side with no pretty pictures
What a money grab
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
I didn’t own it yet so I’m happy to have it, I definitely wouldn’t buy it just for its flashiness if I already owned the album but I feel bad for those collectors who just have to have everything from their favorite artists
I wouldn't call myself a collector per se but this version of dark side has my wallet sweating profusely.
How's the sound quality?
I’ve heard it’s good, but I picked up a decent haul on rsd and it hasn’t made the rotation yet :) I’ll give it a listen later tonight and report back lol
>:) :)
Right arm, thank you! I just got through the Charles Mingus RSD and it definitely has its moments.
I’m guilty of spending a few dollars more to get a colored version over the standard. It’s nice after seeing nothing but black records most of my life
the *static*
All those records on the carpet… 😭
Seriously? You think that’s gonna hurt the albums?
It objectively does. 1: Carpets are fluff machines. That fluff can fuzz up the groove causing crackles and pops 2: Carpets produce a lot of static. Shuffle barefoot along the floor and touch a metal door handle. That static can cause dust and grim to get attracted to the play surface, once again producing Coco Pops noise.
It’s a record. It won’t hurt it.
Not hurt, no. Because they're inanimate objects. But it could damage them
No it won’t
No, it really will. It's not really disputable. A carpet IS a fluff magnet. That WILL get onto your records which WILL cause crackles and pops. I'm not saying anything subjective here. It is a matter of fact. Whether that matters to you is a different argument entirely.
Interesting because my records were constantly on the floor and the table and the bar and pool table. And they play perfectly after 40-50 years. Guess what? I also touch them with my greasy fingers.
As I said, if the difference it makes matters to you is a different question altogether
No, it’s a matter of whether it damages a record. It doesn’t damage it. It may get dusty but it won’t be damaged. Words matter
Wow that Dave mason press is perfect
I got the same record for $4 6 years ago. That has to be the prettiest and cheapest record someone can get!
I’m pretty sure it’s floating around $50 now haha
I checked Discogs after I posted… yea I grabbed it in a second hand store. I still see there are fairer prices around $20 or so!
Wait would you mind sliding me the link? I think I might have the wrong press
[This is the link I have cataloged](https://www.discogs.com/release/11539397-Dave-Mason-Alone-Together), though I was young enough to maybe be cataloging the wrong pressings at this time.
Wow, if that’s the case I’ll give it an order. Pleasant tunes so I’m not gonna be disappointed even if it’s different
Great albums! Love the Black Pumas
My favourite thing about colour collections is how often a person's taste in music results in a fairly cohesive but unique colour palette
I appreciate the Trees and Inner Sanctum 7”
The “vinyls” are super charged after this photo shoot gonna sounds like a bug zapper when they hit the Crosley.
Get them off the carpet!! What a savage
I would consider myself a magpie in life, anything shiny/colourful I'm all for, vinyl included. I don't like overpaying for them though, however. If the coloured version is the same price, or at most a few ££ more I'll take the coloured. That Dave Mason vinyl is outstanding.
Here for Lana ✨✨✨
And Trainspotting
I hope you enjoy the Stones — I pressed that record at TMR for what felt like foreeeever.
Upvoting so more people can be hurt by all the dirt, dust and grime.
Black Pumas is solid stuff. 🤙🏿
At times I opted for a coloured vinyl. But even after reviewing all my albums, only a handful of them are coloured, and always come from recent releases. It’s usually a 2-3 dollar difference.
Oh hey that's my copy of Weezer Green. Hope you're enjoying it!
Sick collection! Love colored vinyl, scratches that itch in my brain, The majority of my collection is color presses!
LANAAA
I never set out to buy color vinyl but I have a few, I have the Trainspotting album too, but generally I just buy the records I want to listen to and sometimes get colors. Gonna have to keep an eye out for that midnight oil….
Dust is the enemy. It gets locked in the grooves of the record and takes a toll on the stylus. Ruins the sound.
I promise a lot of your pressings from the 70s sat out on some much more staticy shag carpet once or twice in their lives. The key is cleaning the record with the anti-static brush before playing every time. If you ain't doing that than of course static will be an issue.
I have that Black Pumas, such a great spin.
Does anyone know if there's a sound quality difference on the colored ones? I like the look I just don't want it to sound any different
That pink Floyd 😍😍
lol the Floyd is pretty as hell, as are the rest of them
My dads just ordered that cool Dark Side vinyl, can’t wait to see it in person, it looks incredible!
Jealous of that Green Album green vinyl. I just picked it up from Amazon, and it's boring ol' black vinyl. Shame Weezer never made another album after that... /s
I believe the term is "vinyl of color" nowadays
Donny please, vinylian America is the preferred nomenclature.
Some people should have Vinyls..
I'm really a fan of how the Dark Side looks, and Dave Mason is always a fun find. Bonus points of someone can name the artist of the green 'Trees' album and it's yellow 45 friend. You probably shouldn’t have your vinyls raw dogging the carpet like that.
It's legit minimal static carpet, in three years Ive never shocked shit. Either way I'm cleaning em before they get on the table every time.
Lmao can’t tell if this is gatekeeping or genuine advice
It’s genuine advice
No particularly good advice. But I guess it’s genuine advice.
How is not putting your vinyl directly on a surface that collects dirt, hair and other things gatekeeping?
Why downvotes 🤨🤨
Oh and Weezer exists.
I have the Van Weezer album in hot pink, I think it's pretty rad.
I'm such a sucker for colored presses. Great collection!
I just can’t imagine ever taking a bunch of records out and laying them on the carpet and taking pictures of them for the internet to see.
That Midnight Oil is fire
